Lyrics
Heal myself-a feather on my heart
Look inside-there never was a start
Peel myself-dispose of severed skin
All subsides-around me and within
There's nothing painful in this
There's no upheaval
Redemption for my pathos
All sins undone
Awaiting word on what's to come
In helpless prayers a hope lives on
As I've come clean I've forgotten what I promised
In the rays of the sun I am longing for the darkness
For me it's crazy how he plays that riff live, while singing, with such quality. It's not an easy arrangement to play!
It's not too difficult, but no one can play it like him.
1:44 ... I could marry that guitar riff
Manuel such a unique acoustic part
Learned that today on acoustic and I cant stop playing it. It flows so well but it confounds me to write licks in thus manner. Well I'll keep at it.
Its deceivingly easy, too. Perfect.
@@wizzardswing hope you're still shredding dude
Martin the Machine Lopez, everyone. This shows we wasn't just a death metal drummer. I love the latin rhythms he pours into this version. Te queremos mucho, Martincho, volvé.
If Shakira was into Metal he'll be his drummer. That cumbia was heavy as fuck.
@@jeromeclemente3672 Shakira is way closer to reggaeton than cumbia. 🤮
Wow I could never put my finger on that drum part. You're so right. Super reggaeton beat. I absolutely love it.
More like a Punjabi touch than Latino. May be a bit of both.
Na minha humilde opinião nesse final apoteótico, só faltava uma cobra levantar do cesto totalmente hipnotizada.
The fact that the album version isn't like this is criminal
Fucking agreed
Not really... The fact we got to hear it live this way is a blessing.
Now we have two versions 😉
agreed
Agreed, I love the album version too but the way it just ends abruptly always throws me off.
Mendez is killing that bass man. Absolutely beautiful
Martin López from 4:00 to the final part is amazing
Pink Floyd echo and Opeth closure are gifts for mankind
I like listening to this when I'm depressed! The ultimate soundtrack for the darkest hours...👍👍👍
Typical Opeth fans. Headbanging to the non-death metal sections! 😁
So true
I mean closure is a heavy song even with only clean riffs
and flying the horns at inappropriate times
Yea thats me
I mean, the band is headbanging, so of course they are.
1:43 this is the ultimate evil riff, love it so much!
1:25 I love that dark acoustic riff!
The best transition in Opeth discography ! What a brilliant song ! Absolute masterpiece
Holy hell........this version of Closure is mind-blowing.
The outro of this song is the best!
Did you hear the outro of the original track on Damnation?
It's mind blowingly good. The only crime is that it isn't longer!
You mean the song's "closure"?

Been listening to Opeth for 7 years now and still don't know even half the lyrics. Thanks man.
Man this version is so different than the original... Amazing
God I miss this line-up.
I love this lineup, too! I first saw Opeth in Miami (May 2008) when they opened for Dream Theater (I wish it'd been the other way around!). I've seen Opeth every time they've been to the U.S.A. since then.
@@Wishpool lucky you, unfortunately for me they never play in my country
@@silversky5554 same, i think they would came here this year, at another city but i would defently go. Howerer Covid 19 fuckded everything...
the jamming ending part give goose bumps like death. that sounds like oriental music so much it is heavy and grooved in a way we can not resist.
A Masterpiece by true Musicians.
That middle instrumental part is a finger stretcher, the slightest pressure change on the fretboard causes a bad half strummed sound, he's so In it. Love this song
6:16 fucking love that guitar fuckup
A dead note that somehow served the song lol
One complete life is not enough to heal you through this song
0:25 that was about the look on my face at my first opeth show the entire time! so incredible
I cant love this band enough! seeing them live is one of the best shows I have ever been to.
One of the best live versions of this song I've ever heard in my life... SO FAR!!!! Opeth are gods!
Oh for that line-up again. Opeth at their best.
I may not listen to much Opeth nowadays, but this band will always be boss! Esp this line-up
This was definitely the golden era
Same. I listened to a lot of metal about a decade ago and even tho I never got much into Opeth , Damnation was a fantastic album. I can enjoy it from start to finish. Absolutely beautiful.
Their drums are always so bloody crisp
God almighty, Lopez is such a fuckin' powerhouse
My God, his voice is soooo PRETTY
Tremendous version! 🤘🤘🤘
Best line up ever! And that intro omg !!!
I love this version. I miss Lopez!!
Very Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
Hope to see you in Turkey again we miss you
The best lineup
Absolutely brilliant. People will be listening to this in 100 years and saying, this is amazing music!
6:57 oooohhh myyyy
THE BEST live version ever lml
Opeth playing reggaeton at 5:52 :P
+Thor Leyvus i thought the same jajajaj but the sound seems like more tropical, do not you think so ?
+Christian Zamacona jajaja yeah kind of, "mas rico" latinos would say
+Thor Leyvus Sorry dude, im mexican, latino too, and in years i haven't heard something like "más rico" when we really like some music.
Pues metete mas a los barrios compi ;)
+Thor Leyvus jajajajajajaja
TREMENDOOOOO.
This is way too metal to be played without distortion
The weirdest thing ever, Deathprogreggaeton
wow dude 7:19 it's like almost they dont want to get to that part
Haha they're teasing us and giving us blue balls before penetration
Masterpiece
Holy Molly!!!! In moments like this I believe in God, the studio version is a delight insurmountable!!! But this presentation stands out and deserves to be recorded and put in a studio version for more pleassure.
1:43 is my ringtone

That Outro!
This Christmas, I'm celebrating the birth of Martin Lopez.
I've got the vinyl.
Some classic, thrilling head banging going on! 🤘🏼
Coated pwerstroke on the snare! Dig it!
Gratitude.
Incredible
Well this tops the album version
🔥🔥🔥
Here we go again! 7:20
This is like closure on MAMH🖤spot on
That final third is so Porcupine Tree. Omfg.
Akerfeldt and Wilson is ❤️
Fantastic.....
this is so rad
Que obra de arte !!!!!!
That middle part reminded me of Bleak
01:49 i've practicing that little part for one year now... i can't do it :c
its not that hard bro
@@skukatab7113 I know, but i can't :(
@@xxJirenzaRxx its kinda little strange and fucked up i agree but try playin it several times a day when u have patience and concentration. When u start gettin angry, take a pause , do something else , then again take your guitar and try. After several days u will be impressed with the progress. Trust me bro ;)
edit: maybe watch some covers if youre havin trouble with finger position
take a look at ben eller's lesson on that one I'm sure it'll help
Only me who hear music it self has an Arabian influence (middle Eastern)?
Yes dude the drums at 4:00 is so Arabian
Yep, it's why this is my fav Opeth song! 🧞
this song can make even michael nervous
One of the darkest songs I've heard
That riff that begins @ 1:44 🤘🏼
This is better than original
No, it isn't lol
Mästeverken!!!
5:54 alguien se saca un paso de reggaeton
Martin fucking Lopez, the best drummer Opeth ever had.
Yilber Pacheco yesss
I love his drumming especially in this performance.
I know you're not saying it but Axe is awesome to and underappreciated. Axe shoes are same size as Lopez's. Axe fills them well.
@@rameshramchandani7247 Yeah nah, his shoes are def not the same size. He's good, but he ain't no Lopez. Two complete different flavours. Axe is just your generic run at the mill Death/Black Metal drummer who had to learn a complete new style when he played for Opeth. That's why he messed a bunch of stuff up at first. Lopez on the other hand. Completely on a different level when he was with Opeth. His Uruguayan roots gave him a latin groove. The sound of him hitting his kit had a precision and warm meaty sound, the sound of his ghost notes were crazy. Something Axe couldn't replicate playing songs originally played by Lopez. Axe is not a bad drummer by any means, but my guy, come on.
@@apollyonexe868 I totally agree with you. Lopez is in a league of his own! 🥁
I miss Martin Lopez on drums so much :
Depths...
1:40 on slaps
million-dollar sounding snare.
Its August 2022 and Opeth needs a permanent drummer. Someone call Mr Lopez.
needs more hand drum
Esta versión le patea el trasero 1000000000 veces a la original...
Concuerdo, incluso la producción es mucho mejor aquí y Méndez varía mucho más los ritmos. También el riff del 1:44 se escucha mucho mejor y más fluido. Gracias a Dios existe Opeth.
Senor lopez
Fun Fact: 1 in 10 opeth fans have mental illness. I know this cuz I'm one of them 🙃
Would be true if Opeth only had 10 fans.
@@powermetallistic2293 exactly what I wanted to write

i prefer the album version but this is a killer too
static crowd's the worst..
Easily the best song on Still Lyf
troubadorista! This isn't from Still Life lol.
Hahahaahahhahhaha
Lmfao
i think you misspelled sorceress :)
No, it's from Damnreveries you idiots!
where is axe :(
With all respect to him, Lopez had a magical touch.
This was before Lopez left
Lol what. How can you possibly ask for axe in this performance
Martin is better tham axe from the arrangement but not for his tempo.axe is more smooth
Arrangement? Have you heard the lines in my hand, nepenthe, eternal rains will come, goblin or the Lotus eater?
Cast D Rafa have you heard Leper Affinity, Ghost of Perdition, Harlequin Forest, Deliverance, The entirety of Still Life, and Isolation Years?
mmm, nothing beats the original.
Except this version. This version beats the original.
@@apollyonexe868 It does not.
@@ReneAensland Oh but it does :)
