The control unit you refer to at 2:20 is a regulator/rectifier combo. The regulator portion ensures that electricity is delivered at a safe level so it doesn't exceed voltage limits. The rectifier converts AC power from the alternator on the motorcycle into DC power to charge the battery. Sorry to comment on an older video you probably already know this information!
I used to live in a bad neighborhood, having such a light bike, I parked it inside my apartment. Two people could pick up a Rebel and throw it in the back of a pick up and drive off.
Hey man, great video. Very detailed and easy/clear instructions. I got a 500 last month and planning on doing a few small mods here and there. I just can't decide whether to remove the fender to make it look cooler or to add the passenger kit I just bough lol. Either way....SUBBED!
awesome vid! I also have a 300 picked it up in August so nice to see someone getting some videos of work being done on the 300- I look forward to more DIY videos- Keep up the great work!
Hi. I am from Germany and just bought a 500 Rebel for my wife. I am currently want to change that bad looking light block on the rear fender. Saw your video and i am wondering if its possible to remove only the fender cover and not the whole fender to get to the cables under the cover. Is it possible ?
@@ArchesMechanic i saw u took both bolts that hold the seat base, is attached to the frame and if it is are those bolts long enough to add another plate attachment for the bobber seat?
@@ArchesMechanic great, thanx I'll try them, I've reached out to 2 bubber seat maker and they dont have the hardware for the rebel 500 2019 ( the rebel with the kind of seat u and i have)
Ok so I'm at the part where you have to take like the 6 or so fender screws off but mine are ON there. Like Ive had an ex body builder bend up one of his tools trying to unscrew them. Do I need to take it to a shop to get em unscrewed or is there another way I could possibly do it?
Just saw your photos of what you replaced that rear fender with and it's BEAUTIFUL! Could you tell me what the kit is, am looking to do something similar but coming up blank-there don't seem to be many (any?) cut back/reduced rear fender options that I can find?
New subsciber here. Really interesting videos on the 2017 Rebel. No one else is doing this service, so please keep it up. I think the bike looks cooler without the rear fender but what about the rear turn signals and brake/license plate lights? Is there a way to moumt/reuse them without the rear fender? If not, do you know of any after-market kits to do so? I'd love to be able to have a smaller/bobbed fender or no fender at all, and relocate the license plate and brake light to a side moutn instead. Thanks for the awesome videos!
I am going to try and tear this bike down as far as it'll go so I can have content for my channel. I am thinking of doing and install of the Diablo Custom Works rear fender. It's on ebay. $229 though. With this setup you would have to relocate the plate and they make a bracket that mounts to the side (around the rear suspension. Everything on their site is pretty expensive though. They also make a smaller front fender, side covers and other fun parts. Looking forward to you watching.
Just wanted to give an update for people that want to do this. This procedure does not remove the rear fender frame. At least not the 500. Just tried this a year later lol. I can’t tell from the end of the video if your frame came off as well. If not, anyway you could do an update video on how to remove it? Sorry to bring up a year old topic lol. You da man!
Girl On Two Wheels they’re on there so strong! I was scared when I took mine off the first time. I wouldn’t worry about them breaking as they’re very strong. That being said...you may want to get a pro to do it. They are on so tight though. It sounds like you break it when I finally breaks free
Letran okay...so the fender you can take off and still put the seat on however, the rails that the fender are attached to are part of the rear assembly. Seat, battery box, fuses and the lot. Each rail is around $135 usd so I’m not about to cut mine off yet. Maybe sometime in the future.
Honda offers a 2nd rider seat for the fender. Its really small and just from the size of the seat its not even worth putting someone on it. Mainly because they wouldn't be comfortable on it and Like Arches said, Its thin and really shouldn't have much weight on it. Id only put a tail bag on it if i could find one that fit. NOTE: My brother has a CMX500 (Rebel 500) and this is where im getting my info. I riide a CBR 300R
Sharifuddin Umar they’re difficult. Some people have broken the heads off and had to drill them out. Mine were very tight and I just pushed harder. If you don’t care what they look like you can get a vice grips and do it that way. Just be careful
