At last have a fix! I connected the controller to windows 10 machine as per your detail and checked the properties to see the status of the buttons - found that L1 was stuck in on position. As was out of warranty I had no option and took it apart and then found some black debris across the contact part of the button. rubbed off gently with contact cleaner and reassembled everything works fine now! thanks to you for the solution! Saved me time and money!

You saved me. I even sent to a technician who said there was no problem and I thought maybe my PS4 is broken. I plugged it to my PC and saw my 8 button (R2) pressed slightly. I opened it up and plugged it back in to the PC and it showed that the R2 was not depressed anymore... thank you sir!

Bro!! my L2 was a little stuck, after you said your L2 was stuck I looked at mine and was pressed down, all I had to do was pull it up and down a few times and it snapped right back!! live saver (and 60$)

Kinda wish you explained *how* to clean the inside with pressure cleaner you mentioned. I have the same exact issue with my controller except the L2 rubber was already secure in my case. Any tips on how to properly clean with the duster?

I have taken it apart and wiped everything multiple times. The button is L2. The contact looks fine and somehow it still says the button is stuck. I have tested it without the actual L2 lever on and it still is stuck. Do you think it may be a problem beyond the L2 lever?
Turned out if I press L3 it also triggers the PS button and it throws me to the 'PS4 desktop'. Are L3 and PS button somehow connected? What should I do now?
I am having an issue with my controller but I can't determine if its the same one. I was playing Persona 5 and suddenly the controller lost the light to indicate it was on, I had some earbuds plugged in and they were still getting audio, I put the console in rest mode and the controller refuses to turn on when plugged into a charger, so I unplugged the charger. It turned on(?) but it didn't have the solid blue like it normally does when the console is enabled, it was the light blue when the console is starting up. the controller refused to do any action at all and not even the PS Button works, I have a windows 8 so I'm unsure of if it's a button bugging the system. But its like the controller is softlocked. Do you have any idea if this is the same problem as you showed?
Sorry that's definitely a weird one.. I can't think if anything that would cause an issue like that, if you haven't already I would check out the ps4 forums and possibly see if you can talk with some with playstation support. If you get an answer definitely let us know. And best of luck
Any troubleshooting for continued issues? My L2 is reading much higher, like a heavier press on the device manager, even when I removed the keys. Now I can't even get my computer to register it, think I might call it quits and trash it and buy a new one.
@@CMDRMcKillian actually, I've taken the rubber off, was still showing depression on the device manager with nothing on the little pad. Gonna try cleaning the little black square with a toothpick as you recommend, my hopes aren't too high, but thanks for the reply

@@CMDRMcKillian GOT IT! It was the touchpad. I was able to turn it off by moving pad around a bit. Solved my problem. No disassembly required. Thanks for your help. I was not even aware of the diagnostic tool in Windows so learned something new. Excellent information.

this is a great video. i didn't have to disassemble my controller, all i had to do was push up on the L2 and presto change-o fixed!

Another way to fix, if one of ur triggers is sticking just pull up It until I hear a click, that should last you a couple of weeks

Where does the spring go? Your hand is covering it. Does it go on the inside or outside of the L R 2 snap?
I believe it is inside(toward the middle) there is a reces in the plastic mold of the controller for it to sit

It sounds like the rubber is grooved from use I've used super glue on it and smooth it out with a tooth pick or something similar

With mine it was the rubber lip on the bottom wasn't hooked on the bottom ledge of the mold causing it to constantly press I would double check that
