Who knew a song about playing hide n seek with orge can be so cute yet metal. Only our little metal Queens can do that.
You gotta move. You gotta move. I grew up in the disco era and we just had to roller skate to
all the great hits and well that was a lot of fun. Now at 55 all I can do is just groove in my chair
to those hits as my body is to broken too do anything else. Great reaction. Love to see someone
who really gets into the groove like they used to say.

PS You said a couple of things that were spot on: that this is a mixture - a perfectly balanced mix - of cute and Metal and that is exactly what their producer, KobaMetal, was after when he invented Kawaii Metal (Cute Metal). A genius idea. Also, the Kami Band are dressed and made-up as corpses and the dresses the girls wear are known as 'Battledresses'. This is my favourite song by Babymetal. When the Kami-Band opens with their intros followed by the signature Babymetal song, it is the greatest thing in the world!! Only Babymetal can make something like Hide and Seek with demons Metal!

There's a lot going on, so it's really easy to miss some stuff.
Did you notice that Yui and Moa were dancing on a platform that was spinning much of the time?
They had big smiles throughout, but mentioned in later interviews that this was a difficult concert that required intense focus.
This cute song is about playing a game that is like hide-and-go-seek, tag or blind-man's-bluff.
Pursued by an "Oni"" which is a kind of Japanese Ogre. : )
While 'Megitsune' is still my favorite, I think this has one of their cutest choreographies.
If much of their charm is in the blending of the cute and the brutal, this song is a great example.
They're all turned up to 11.
The recurring "Maada da yo." part that Yui and Moa sing means "Not ready yet."
They performed this song quite a bit in 2017, but not since.
The last time I saw this one was in Chula Vista, California when they were on tour opening for Korn and Stone Sour.

Babymetal themselves so clearly love what they do and it really shows in their performances so it's pretty hard now to get swept up into that happy feeling. Sometimes it seems like people have forgotten how to have fun so we really need groups like Babymetal and others like them so we can, at least for a moment, forget about whining and complaining and enjoy life.
I love this song and the choreography. The way they integrated the theme of playing hide and seek into crowd interaction is nothing but genius.
Su singing: 手のなる方へ (Come toward my clapping) while the drums and the crowd are "clapping"- it's perfect.

Welcome to The One. Love your reaction, its energized like their performance. And for me, thats what BM is all about...to pump you up and having Fun/ a good Time.
The song does revolve around hid eand seek, but it brings in other elements of Japanese childhood, like when a man dressed as an Oni will come into a house during one festival, looking for crybabies, and he is banished by throwing acorns at him. It also has a touch of darkness, the reference to red shoes (which comes out more clearly in the intro to a later song, Oh! Majinai!) where a girl puts on red shoes and she can't stop dancing with them on.
They are so good at hyping the audience. This song rocks in concert.

GJ on the reaction. Kamiband showcase at the start is so much fun. IMO this song really solidified what a Kawaii Metal song is. There dancing is so good here. The added bonus to it though has got to be those facial expressions. The best part of the choreography is Moa's dive between Su's legs for the perfect hiding place. She'll never find you there. HA ha. They don't do that part anymore, Moa actually got too big. I wonder when they discovered that? Did she knock Su over? Su was OK that's done. lol. Heaviest song about playing hide and seek... "Catch me if you can" is about playing hide and seek or tag... BUT... with an "oni", a sort of Japanese ogre.
This was my very first BABYMETAL song, so it's very special to me. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, this is definitely one of their heaviest songs but it also has one of their cutest choreos, including my personal favorite movement: the infamous "Moa slide"... and I noticed you liked it as well hehe...

Welcome back to the Babymetal foxhole. I think we are witnessing the birth of another kitsune. The Kamis do solo intros in concert to some songs, but these do not appear on the CDs, so that's a good reason to buy the DVD/Bluray of the concerts. FYI any sort of "disc" media is called a "Delorean" in BM speak because of a mistake Su made way back when she was in Sakura Gakuin.
"Catch Me If You Can" is about a Japanese playground game where the tagger is called the "oni" or ogre and the ogre asks if the kids are ready and Yui and Moa answer "no not yet". Oni are Japanese ogres or trolls that are sometimes used to scare young children into being good. Another interesting cultural reference in the lyrics is to it being dangerous "to go out in red shoes" which refers to a Japanese children's poem where a young girl wearing red shoes is taken away from her parents by foreigners. It was written in the early 20th century and probably expresses fear of the outsider and strangers. Part of what I enjoy about BM is discovering the cultural references...I think they have taught a lot of people a lot about Japan.

I have a theory that the Oni demon caught up to Yui, (maybe because of the noted Yui-lag), and because it knew her paralyzing cuteness could be used to absorb souls, which she proceeded to do for several years. I think the stewards of Baby Metal saw this in Yui over time as her powers grew, and determined in 2018 that an exorcism was needed to release all the souls she had collected. Unfortunately, we do not know the result of the experiment, but the prophecy of the song came true with her disappearance. So, things don't look good for all the Yui-zombies out here who break down at the mere sight of a tomato.

I try and I try and I try, so bad to get into Babymetal but I can't. The instruments and all that is fantastic and Babymetal is very heavy and hardcore, however it's the singing. They don't sing in English so how can I listen to something or understand what they are saying, they need to start singing in English more.
You can look up unofficial translated lyrics online. 🦊 Actually quite a few Babymetal fans don't know what they're singing either, & it really doesn't matter. Like with Rammstein alot of their fans don't understand German, or know what they're singing. In these cases voices are more like music instruments that sound great. Babymetal does have an all english vers. of their song The One. It's a thank you to all fans and especially uk/usa/english speaking fans. In 2020 Babymetal collaborated with Bring Me The Horizon on the the hit song: Kingslayer. Babymetal sent them an all english track assuming that is what they wtd, but BMTH lead singer Olly Sykes was expecting them to send an all Japanese track. So Babymetal being the most awesome people they are, made them an all new english track to use with their Japanese track! 😇
This is why fans Love Babymetal. They are so very positive, dedicated, humble, sincere, generous and considerate, etc...!

For an alleged simger, you sure can't recogythe difference between 1 voice and multiple voices. When the girls come out, its Yui & Moa chanting. Su has nothing to do with it. You're so fixated on Su that you always ignore Yui & Moa's singing and other contributions. . They ALL are amazing vocalists. And Yui & Moa are masters at crowd control. And considering that Su is 18 and Yui & Moa are 16 here, it's even more amazing.
