- A Rimworld guide for the long range mineral scanner in rimworld. In this video I'll be sharing and talking about a very looked over device to have in your colony. In the game if you want to know how to get plasteel in rimworld, as well as how to get gold in Rimworld easily and cost free, this is how. You can also get components in rimworld in large amounts using this guide as well if you have the resources to build the device, Its a cost effective way to get the resources needed to craft late game items and armor, I noticed there wasn't really an updated guide for this or videos talking about this as of the Rimworld 1.3 Ideology update so I thought I'd share you the bare bones beginner's guide on how to use the long range mineral scanner. Hoping this helps you newbies coming into Rimworld 1.3 after picking it up with ideology.

Cool for components. Plasteel and gold more convinient to get from deep scanner, i have plenty, but my crafters work so much on stupid components

It really could've used at least some semblance of a description in regards to using it. I'm glad this helped clarify some things.
I might say that this guide is quite helpful just increase the volume a bit.

I was a bit concerned with the voice over volume since my microphone is the equivalent of a an old Xbox 360 potato mic constantly hitting the peak every now and then so I was concerned for your eardrums along with everyone else 😆 I'll be sure to adjust it in the future.

I drop pod in my best miner and drop pod back the resources.
Ground penetrating scanner doesn't scan pre existing resource nodes. It creates them despite the idea of it being a scanner. I remember abusing the hell out of them with the android tiers mod.
Yeah android tiers is extremely resource hungry for plasteel and gold if you're gunning for advanced androids to build but worth it in the long run since in the end you can send the bots to mine them out for you. The fact you can practically mod the hell out of the advanced ones and send them out to the detected nodes with little to no food since their modified power consumption upgrades negates starvation so much it makes them extremely good picks to spend a day or so mining out the nodes to haul back since their hunger/power consumption depletes extremely slowly.

A lil off topic but how’d you throw your prisoners into a fight pit and made them fight?
Oh so that's an ideology dlc feature. At the start of the game you can choose memes for your colonists beliefs and ideologies to live by and if you choose the "Supremacist" meme it opens up the feature to take "Gladiatorial Duels" as a ritual for your colonists entertainment and benefit.

excellent, I like that this guide is especially geared to war criminals that has committed atrocities to the other factions. Very useful!
Who would have guessed that enslaving people from another faction would mean they refuse to sell me components :(
So What do you do if the long range scanner can't be manned by any pawn who have nothing but research?
So long as the pawn is capable of research they should actually be able to use the scanner. You may have to disable power on your high tech research bench or uninstall your wooden ones if you have any still placed in the colony to force that research working pawn to use the scanner instead.

There may be mods that make this pointless sure, but this video is more oriented towards the new comers to RimWorld as well as show them the purpose of the scanner and how to use it to find resources they need by other means.

As much as I wish I took the time to create their respective pawns and backgrounds to be that accurate in prepare carefully before starting its just the basic visible nickname system I decided to use to change their name lmfao.
I needed a way to tell the difference between my skillful work slaves that craft in the sweatshops or make art or otherwise, compared to the more basic skilled ones that are responsible for mining, hauling and farming at the colony. So I went for the most notable and meme worthy names on my side of the third world that I live in and picked the most iconic "administration" members or otherwise and that's how I ended up with that. The tribal I dubbed Biden though did actually get dementia some time after I made this video when he reached the old age event since out of all of the slaves working at the colony he was the oldest of the bunch.
