I went back and forth with myself this weekend to continue doing body work or just put the car back together and drive it as is. I choose to put it back together and enjoy it. Your video just told me I made the right choice.
That car is going to burn to the ground. Disconnect the battery tell the customer it needs a new wiring harness get your money get it gone .probably have to sleep in the shop for few days Minnie is not happy lol😂
I like the restoration side of the work...my husband and I have more than 30 years in this...we work together and its not always easy, but the end result on restoration is always worth the tedious painstaking moments. Hang in there you two🥰🙏❤
Why do so many people have to slice & dice wires, Poke and stick and cause problems for themselves, leave them alone and replace the cause of the problem
Those were the days 99 bucks for paint job Believe it or not Earl scheib had their own special company paint which was actually made in Germany and it had metal flake in it went to school with grandson of Earl scheib Cool people and had lots of cars some custom ones too
I've had a 1974 dodge pick up truck with 85 % of the lights not working similar to this car. best thing to do if you don't want to spend a lot of money is to buy a full spool of 12 gauge red automotive wire and another full spool of 14 gauge black automotive wire and using the exiting wire as a map and rewire the entire lighting system. It's not complicated but you have to take the time to do it properly. The problem with dodges of that era was the small gauge wire size and the main reason for shorting (melting insulation) . The bigger the size of wire the coolest electricity flows.
Old dodges (and other mopars) have ampmeter on dash it has burned down mopars more than lightining has houses. Wire comes from battery to the dash without any fuse or circuit breaker. Almost burned my 69 dart too. Lesson learned. First thing i would do on old mopar is to pull that wire out completely you wont need amp gauge anyway.
I know you have done at least 1 video on wiring but one of my biggest hurdles is a good factory style harness. For a jeep cj im thinking painless is probably the closest.
my friend bill says you should find some old school solder flux learn to solder (try paperclips and make a cube) get some heat shrink from mouser and go for it don't be scared... and by god charge for what it is worth... stay faithful buddy...
That T3 is factory. I'm '62 Impala still had all four of its factory t3s when I sold it 3 years ago. Reproductions cost a fortune. The turn signal looks like it's grounded to the ignition. One of the horn notes isn't working. What a mess.
I found the video that you told me about. Tell the owner that you have a buyer for the car and I will take care of the wiring. Also tell the bodyshop girl about this comment. (just to get her going again) Hehehe!! We love you Minnie. Naturally our friend Pete as well. P.S. my 62 SS had a painted gas cap that matched the tan/bronze paint and OEM hub caps since I never had the chance to put Cragars on it.
If I could tell my younger self, just get ONE fn vw project and finish it, and enjoy it....Joe told me do one thing a day for it and it will get done. and he also told me I had too many projects.....as much I hate to say it, he was right.
Have zero idea on what you charge per hour but I have to believe you probably don't charge the owners for all yours and Mini's hours you spend on these redos. But your work looks great.
Do you mind if I ask a personal question? What does your wife have to do with this Chevy? Why drag her into your constant ill tempered drama and embarrass her for the whole world to see?
use a multi-meter on the lights to determine the debt of the lighting issue. solder those twist connections and ROLL. Be nice to Minnie!! take her to dinner
1970 I learned how to paint cars at uncle Earl Scheib can`t count how many cars i painted but i did the best job i could do with the diamond gloss Earl Scheib paint pre thin paint just mix and paint 3/4 of a gallon.
Pete and minny, I have thousands of dollars and thousands of my hours of my labor in my chevelle All the details meticulous hand work. Trying to do it with sidejob money. Years of toil. Weather stripping was 550.00 and 16 months to get. My back hurts..
Well if they don't fix it properly, hopefully for that 1 drive a year to the ice cream parlor, they buy alot of ice cream to throw at the electrical fire 😅 all my friend pete needs to do is disconnect the battery and move on.
From a logical perspective, the vehicle is 45 years old. Rust, wiring, owners much less techs who have worked on it. In 45 years; How many times have you hit a sharp edge & bleed? How many time have you stub your toe? How many times have you sacked your elbow, knee or fell? Answer: Dozens of times! Same with a vehicle. I enjoy wiring and even better with a schematic. Amp meter? Chances are you have two fuses inline in the engine compartment that are between the alternator and gauge and another from gauge to the external regulator. Not only should wires be soldered & shrink tubed, but dielectric grease at terminals. Coating on wire (if copper / as aluminum was used for 2-3 years) but with these symptoms be a turn signal switch only, or connector at the base of the column. I confirm all the problems, look at the schematic and determine what would be common to all. This is before doing anything. The PVC covering on wire has changed to higher temperatures with coated wire & oxygen free copper. New cars have tiny gauge wires with ground for control. These are are factors that needs to discussed with a customer before making it look pretty. It’s like new chemistry paint, base & clear, applied over OEM paint, a back yard fix, the house exterior latex sanded smooth 10 years later, with “Earl Schibes” $99.95 complete deluxe now it your turn to paint in the 21st century! Won’t work, won’t last! And evils lurk below! All wiring can be fixed, but change certain circuits & practices into new. Now you have dependability!
IF they don't wanna replace ALL the 60 year old wasted wiring, then...? Might as well get REAL used to breaking down at ALL kinds of places, (in ALL kinds of different SITUATIONS) 😄. NTM? Taking the risk that from here ON? The car can end up shorting OUT and just end up catching fire......So, hopefully? The customer does, replace all that worn wiring......And sooooo...I take it Minnie is gettin kinda sick, of doin the whole "documentary thing"????..😶Lol....You guys STILL running bt6he UHAUL bizness as well too? ....Best of luck and THX Pete n Minnie....
You have little to no understanding of the dynamics between this couple. Actually after reading your prior comments you have very little knowledge in general. Research “illegal non-citizens voting” and you may want to retract your ignorant statement. Now I understand how idiot politicians are elected. Thank you for biden and camela (toe) harris.
Can someone give me a break! It's back to the FEUDING FUN ... Thanks for watching and please leave a thumbs up and SUBSCRIBE if you already haven't.
I wish yt would stop pushing this trash.
I didn't know you were having fun. I do get a lot from your instructional vids, I'll grant you that.

I've just finished a nightmare under the dash on my Lancia Thema Manual 2.0L turbo. All sorted and correct. Everything beaut.

Well you went right ahead and picked the scab off that landmine, Pete.
The wife soon appreciates the money when it stops coming in
Right Turn Clyde, lol
You both are great Pete!
would you PLEASE do a compression check on the baja engine and find out if it truly needs a rebuild?
Hey folks, stay for the last 6 minutes of this video. It's worth it. I almost fell asleep until the end.
Hope everyone's doing well through the most unbelievable time in our history of our lives

You know what acting and entertaining is right???
Why does it seem that no customers are happy?

It's not boring i was enjoying the commentary...she's exactly like my wife. Debbie downer
The owner should replace front and back wiring the car look awesome

My ex-wife used to talk to me like that 20 years later she became my ex-wife sorry Pete not trying to get personal thanks for the video
There just messing with each other
You cant take them seriously theyll be together for ever believe it or not lol
PETE AND MINNIE are solid …..they both are strong personalities and Pete has a schtick for the videos and Minnie gets it
Give the car back to the owner. To much discrepancy tells you he or she don't take care of the problem or car.

Is that a 1962 Chevy II ?
My parents had a 1962 Chevy II Station Wagon & it looks very similar.
Yes.

Lmfao...
Here is the problem... you fix everything thats wrong with it first BEFORE you make it look good. Otherwise it is the old lipstick on a pig thing.

You obviously don’t have any clue as to how Earl Scheib lived and what he was worth.
Who cares. His paint jobs looked cheap
I went to school with one of the grandsons of Earl scheib pretty cool he had lots of fun and lots of motor stuff
Please leave minne out of your rants hard to watch
