  • //Part 4 of 10// I forgot to mention a couple things. You don’t HAVE to take CPFL right when your baby is born, adopted, etc. You can take your 8 weeks any time before the baby turns 1. And you don’t have to take it all at once.
    Some families decide to have a non-birthing parent take 2 weeks when the baby is born and then 6 more after the other parent goes back to work. And others take it all at once. Some might save a week or 2 to go on vacation as a new family or spend more time visiting grandma over Christmas. Talk to your employer about what is best for your family.
    And most importantly, everybody gets California Paid Family Leave! Moms, dads, new parents, new caregivers! As long as you are bonding with a new child and you paid in CASDI you’re eligible.
