    Great video. I used to live in Oklahoma City back in the 1980s when I was a kid, and every once in a while we would go to Dallas. I have no idea which building it was in Dallas, but in one of them I remember they had a life-size Robocop suit/model. It was pretty awesome, especially for a 7-year-old.

    I met Peter Weller back in 2012 when he came to a show with Gabourey Sidibe. I was working the front door, and he comes in and says “I’m Peter Weller, I’m here with the Gabourey Sidibe group”. Y’all, I nearly about had a CONNIPTION. My childhood hero was standing right in front of me. It was so surreal, but he’s really just the nicest guy.

      Also, Dallas Native here, so I always love these videos. Went to a show a few years back at Sons of Hermann and was geeking out the whole time because of the RoboCop history. Also, another fun fact: IM Pei was the one that designed Dallas City Hall. He also designed the rock and roll hall of fame building!

Anyway, those places are on our list to try and see shows if the opportunity avails itself whenever we're in town. I'm a Dallas native as well, but we've been living in Wichita, Kansas for nearly 20 years, so we only get to visit the DFW area occasionally. Have a great weekend :)

      Thanks Alex! We only included the Dallas locations in this video having never visited the Pittsburgh area. But according to some of our viewers, it was called Duquesne Steel Works and was located in Duquesne, just outside Pittsburgh. We've been told it was closed in 1984, and I believe it sat derelict for many years before eventually being torn down. Anyway, sorry we don't have much information about the steel mill. AKA our 80s life--- your welcome for the comments! your a wonderful couple, just wanted to share a fun film fact with you both, when the director of robocop paul verhoeven was offered the script he read a couple of pages and said " i dont want to make a scifi movie" and put it straight in the waste paper bin, his wife retrieved it shortly after and read the whole script and said to him that he should read the whole thing as this movie has many layers to it! so if it was not for his wifes intervention we would not have got the robocop movie that we all love so much!, also peter weller was interested in this movie not because it was a scifi/action movie but because he saw it as a tragedy with the murphy character, a man torn away from his family, a story from the heart. anyway have a nice day and stay safe. the batman will watch over you. :))

    When you take the highway out to there from Irving direction there used to be a famous billboard ad that teens would prank so hard on.
    The Billboard used to be an advertisement for washing detergent and real water would gush out into the thing that looked like a tub.

    My wife " Lois" and I "Norman" Live near Pittsburgh Pa. And we have worked in movies , tv the last ten years. I worked on a tv show "Outsiders" that was filmed in Millvale and the director was Peter Weller Robocop. He looked a little older but the voice was the same. At one point I walked past him and I wanted to say "Murphy , Is that you ?". But I had to be professional about it so I said nothing. Norman.

    • @Our80sLife
      @Our80sLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Norman! That's awesome that you got to work with the talented Peter Weller! That must have been an amazing experience!! It's interesting that you live in PA because it's the only other location used in RoboCop for the steel mill, which is no longer there. It's definitely hard not to have a "fan moment" in situations like that. We once ate at a table in a restaurant next to Harrison Ford, and it was super tempting to go talk to him but we didn't want to interrupt his dinner, sigh. Thanks for watching our video!

    • @2001himax

      @@Our80sLife If you want to see Lois and me watch "The Last Witch Hunter" . We are on the plane when it goes wild. I am the business man in the white shirt and Lois is beside me. Another good shot is in "Promise Land" when Matt Damon is in the bar in the drinking contest with the bartender girl. I am on Matt's left, your right and Lois is next to me. One movie "Won't back Down" I saw Lois talking with someone and here it was Holly Hunter. She started to talk to Lois so it's OK to talk to them. We worked on an independent film and it's more laid back and I got to work behind the camera. I got to direct a scene. We make are own movies too that are on You-tube. Check out "What A Day" by 2001himax. It is in two parts. That is Lois' movie. My movie is "A Stich In Time". Lois' sister ,Lisa's film is "Cat Box" . It's a spoof of "The Bird Box" movie. For Promise Land I worked on the casting crew taking pictures of extras. So good talking to you. Norman.

      @@Our80sLife It really is! I must have seen it about 100 times at least since I was a kid (yeah, 80s kids watched violent films :D ) and it's so enjoyable everytime. My ONLY complaint is with ONE special effect. Not the ED-209 (I love quality stop motion work) but it's the weirdly long arms of Dick Jones when he plummets at the end. That's the ONE bit I wish they'd have fixed up in the various versions they've released over the years. But eh whatever. Rest of the effects hold up well and as you mention in your reaction video to it, the make up of RoboCop when he takes the helmet off is excellent. You can see his skin stretched over the metal. Despite what some people think, it's supposed to be that his facial skin is overlaid onto a robotic skull... shooting him in the face won't kill him. And it was done by OCP to try help him adjust, cos if you woke up, looked in the mirror and saw a robot skull looking back you'd probably have a nervous breakdown or heart attack. There's a beautiful lil scene in RoboCop 2 where he does come face to face with his wife and she remarks that the face feels cold. Peter Weller plays the part of Murphy/RoboCop so well. :) Anyways I'll stop being a nerd now. Hope your weekend been awesome. Stay safe and well. :)
