    You guys did a PHENOMENAL job on the Dallas series! Absolutely amazing! As far as Cardinal Puff's, if you slow the video of the scene with Bobby, Digger, Pam and Cliff and enlarge it, you can see the drink menu in the center of the table with Cardinal Puff's on it. I recognized it immediately from being a student at SMU around that same time.

      Oh wow, THANK YOU!! That menu detail would've been good information to have when we were tracking down these locations, LOL! Unfortunately the new high-def remastered version of Dallas came out AFTER we filmed most of these videos, so we were stuck with fuzzy images and lots of questions, ha! Thankfully we were able to figure that one out; although, I think if we went back and rewatched these early seasons we could probably add a few more locations that stumped us at the time, sigh. Anyway, the detective work is part of the fun! And if you're ever in the area, Ozona makes a fabulous mojito!

    Totally love this! I'm a Dallas native but have lived in Los Angeles for a number of years. I've been watching old Dallas episodes for the first time since I was a kid, and started noticing some of the funny locations that were either in Dallas or L.A. :-) I actually figured out the Cedar Springs location myself before watching this, but that's about it. You did an amazing job finding all these places! Bravo!

    I always thought it's funny when Gary returns to Southfork in the very first episode they filmed at the "new" ranch and says, "Still looks like it used to." 😄

    You guys are so great 👍 I was really young when this show was on but I remember the craze very well😉It was THE SOAP OPERA of the 80's!
    Awesome video 📹!!!

      @Our80sLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it was! And the first nighttime soap opera ever! We were also very young when it began, but I always loved the theme song. Now we're having fun binge-watching the show for the first time. It's actually pretty great! Thanks for stopping by.

    Wow, you guys continue to amaze with all of the research and leg work involved in these! So fun! We've never been to South Fork, or probably would recognize most of these other spots, but it's still fun to watch :) Wow, the Calder House (spelling?) was listed for 13 million, sheesh! Cool, now I know how you are more at Keith's level, Abby - the old curb trick, haha! I was going to ask about them filming on sound stages, so glad you explained that at the end. I always wonder when tv shows and movies take place in certain cities, just how much filming they do these days in the actual place, and how much they try to fake us out, LOL! Great video y'all! Take care, and have a wonderful and blessed day ---Stacy 😍💚

    • @Our80sLife
      @Our80sLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Stacy!! It has been a lot of research for these Dallas videos, but we've truly enjoyed every moment. It's been a great distraction from current events! So, the cast and crew stayed in Dallas each summer from mid-June to mid-August to shoot exteriors for about twelve shows. As we binge-watched, it became quite apparent which episodes were filmed in Dallas and which were in LA. Basically, the first half of each season is in Dallas (exteriors at Southfork) and the latter half of each season is using the exterior set and places around California. We started noticing things like palm trees (clearly not Dallas, lol!) And the Southfork set (although it's pretty impressive) looks like a fake sky backdrop. It's pretty funny once you realize it! We're planning to make a video in the future of mistakes (like when you can see lighting) and other funny goofs we have discovered.

    At 14:14 The building is called The Centrum built in 1983, I worked there from 3/89 to 2001. The first two floors were retail shops, from 3-11 were leased office floors and from 12-19 were condominiums, which Larry Johnson the basket ball player, he moved out and Jerry Jones Jr. moved in, he moved out and Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra moved in. There was a fitness center on the 3rd and 4th floor where I met Kirk Douglas, saw Tom Cruise walk thru our lobby. Also saw the big Indian guy from the “Predator” movie and heard that Peter Weller was seen there also while filming “Robocop” since it was normal for actors to stay diagonally from The Centrum was The Melrose hotel. I might be wrong on the name. Yes I was the third and eventually assistant building engineer there at 3102 Oaklawn, The Centrum and still have pictures with my uniform. I remember having to set all the clocks and bulbs at the corner clock tower....that was many moons ago.

    Man, water features seem to be drying up everywhere. Excellent work! This is like piecing together a very old puzzle and really enjoying this. Some day, could you show us the road from the opening credits, that Bobby and Pam are driving down to head into Dallas. It’s a road that is suspended in actually a bridge.

    • @Our80sLife
      @Our80sLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks again JC! Good news about the water feature at City Hall. Our friend Dallas Fanzine tells us it's only drained temporarily (due to covid) and will have water again at some point in the future. The road Bobby and Pam drive down as they head into Dallas in episode 1 is Hwy. 289 (Preston Road) in Prosper, Texas. This is also the road where the gas station is that we showed you in our season 1 video. The funny thing is that they are actually headed north toward Frisco (away from Dallas, ha!) The view of the Dallas skyline in the opening credits is approaching the city from the south on Jefferson Blvd. Maybe next time we're in Dallas we can fly our drone in that area.

      @@Our80sLife I would love to see the difference between that famous opening credit shot that we saw for so many years and the current look of the highway and the Dallas skyline that we see as the camera pans up.

    It's fun knowing Dallas through your TV show filming location visits. Maybe someday you will do California? Lots of films were shot here near SFO. Great video. Lots of hard work and research goes into every episode of this series of yours. We appreciate the quality and content.

    Amazing video. Really appreciate all you do for us Dallas fans. But you had Jock in the wrong chair in the dining room. That was Miss Ellie's chair. Miss Ellie always sat at the end in front of the window. Was glad when they got rid of that hideous wallpaper in the dining room. And it was sad when they got rid of the room off the living room. It just disappeared. That's where JR slapped Sue Ellen.

    • @Our80sLife
      @Our80sLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Larry!! That was a screenshot from a rare moment where Jock actually sat in the chair by the window. You're right, it must be the only time that ever happened, lol! We agree, the wallpaper was awful, totally 80's style though! It's funny to see how the rooms evolve and constantly change, especially during the first couple of seasons. You are a true fan, and also very detail-oriented! Have a great weekend! :)

      @@Our80sLife if you want to do some research on that art sculpture that was in front of the Campbell Centre, look at season 11 episode 3. The shot immediately after the scene where JR meets Casey Denault. It's one the only closeups of that sculpture. I even emailed the Centre to see if they knew what happened to it. It has to be somewhere.

      Hi Josh! There are two excellent Dallas history groups on Facebook that helped us find some of these locations. One is called “Memories of Dallas” and the other is (Official) If You Grew Up In Dallas, You May Remember... We also recommend following Dallas Fanzine, it’s a great page for fans of the show. Feel free to check out our FB page, @ AKA Our 80’s Life. Thanks for watching 😊
