My issue was with not using the timeouts before halftime. Letting the clock run there was reminiscent of the Pats in there loss to the Dolphins to lose the #2 seed. Not running the ball was a bigger problem in Shanahan's last Super Bowl.
And that is why I say it is rigged. There is no logic with the way the Niners coached called the game at the end of the half and the end of the game. NO LOGIC,

Its arguably worst in this SB because 49ers run game was BETTER than ATLs. 49ers were averagin over 8 ypc at one point and finished with like 6 ypc. Tyrann Mathieu already came out and said he's glad they stopped running the ball. 49ers were gashing them. 2nd and 5? Run it again, worst case is its loss of yards. Bad thing? You get nothing and its 3rd and 5? Well just throw it then. Best case, which was HAPPENING ALL NIGHT, is you get the 1st down on 2nd and 5 and the clock keeps going.
SAS made a great point about 49ers defense. They were tired because the Chiefs HAD JUST ran down the field in no huddle. Running the ball is the BEST OPTION. Ima falcons fan so I know how KS gets down. He doesn't know situational football and ONCE AGAIN he proved it and showed the world. He can solve algorithms and calculus problems all day but can't solve 1+1.

Stephen A is right about the Hill play. It was cover 3, Emmanuel mosley was responsible for the deep outside 3rd and he peels because he thought hill was gonna run a deep cross. That's why Jimmy ward was late because he was playing center field expecting someone to be in deep third of the field. If mahomes was able to step into the throw it would've been a walk in TD. I'll give Mosley a break because he saw this play before. Normally they run 2 verticals and hill on a deep crosser. Instead they ran 1 vertical, 1 deep dig and a deep post corner it was a great play design.

Frankie Russell: You present ample opportunities for the tight end to bully the defense if you establish the running game effectively. A huge reason why the Patriots had major success running the ball last year in the playoffs is because they had an elite tight end blocking defenders and throwing them around like rag dolls.

Although Williams had the better performance statistically, Mahomes was definitely the best and most valuable player. He had more impact on the outcome of the game than any other player. He consistently led drives with his arms and legs under constant pressure to put his team in position to score. Without Mahomes’ less than perfect performance, the chiefs would have lost even with Williams’ good performance.
I completely agree. Could Chiefs have won the game with another running back? Maybe. That is not a knock against Williams. He was really great last night. But could Chiefs have won the game without Mahomes? Doubtful. It has proven over the last three decades, in which Chiefs have had even better running backs and better defenses. But they could not win because they did not have a quarterback like Mahomes and could not beat John Elway and the likes.
Without a doubt. I will say that people who said that the chiefs dont have a running game were proved wrong though.

Kansas City didn't stop the 49ers running game. Shannahan yeeted the running game for them when they needed it most: 10pts lead with about 10 minutes left in the 4th Quarter. The Running Game got yeeted back to the San Francisco Bay Area.

This was a great segment
The Titans fought their way to the AFC Championship “running the football”. The Titans beat the Patriots AND the Ravens, running the football. HOWEVER, the Chiefs did NOT allow the Titans to run the ball ! The Titans were forced to adjust and trhow the ball. Same with the 49rs. But, it was obvious, the 49rs came out with a “throw the ball” plan, because they KNEW the Chiefs game planned stopping their running game and could do it. I just have to credit the Chiefs period. Just like I did, when they beat my Titans. The Chiefs deserve both wins.

Chiefs had A LOT of things go their way and very little went SF’s way was how I saw it. They fumbled 3 times, 2 went out of bounds and they recovered the other. They got away with 2 huge penalties, a helmet to helmet roughing the passer on a big third down and a holding call on Bosa on the pivotal 3rd and long that the Chiefs converted. Chiefs won, but they had many things go their way. SF wins this game 8/10 times.
No excuses buddy mahomes had a sub par game until the 4th q, 49ers couldn’t capitalize by scoring tds those drives. They had to settle with fgs. If jimmy g made a few more plays they would’ve won

I don't fault the secondary too much. The offensive play calling allowed the 3 and outs. The 49ers gave the ball right back to mahomes, and the 49ers Defense had zero time to rest. And the no huddle offense by mahomes allowed no subs. This is all on Shanahan abandoning the successful run game and leaving time on the clock.
