Exactly and it only would’ve applied if they got a TD but they got a FG but you know ppl these days
To be fair he did say that it was a "new game". And had the Niners stopped the TD and the quarter ended, it would go to a new quarter. I can see where that is confusing.
Whether they were aware or not, they still didn't put up a touchdown. You know if KC goes down the field they need a field goal to tie it and if they get it they keep the game going.

The ref explained the rules at the coin flip of overtime......that's just insane

With a terrible pass blocking line. Purdy got his shot because we lost four QBs last year due to poor line play.

its sO uNfair!
I mean his QBR argument against the chiefs in the playoffs was pretty strong, he is trying to convince us he is a too 7 QB in the league.

That Stephen A line was funny. "You protect the quarterback more than the offensive line" 😅

He threw only one TD lol
Man purdy trash they never gonna win SB with him
The rules should not change for the playoffs. Both teams should get a possession in regular season too.
It’s a big deal for Shannon to be right. I get it, we want to protect our ego, credibility, etc. but Shannon got shut down on Tua, Allen and Jackson being a terrible passer rating of 7 combined under the Chiefs blitz when Purdy was a staggering 75. Then Shannon side steps to “moments” because you’re panting Mahomes, and the only guy to beat Mahomes in the SB is Brady. I get it, Mahomes would win with the Niners, it’s Mahomes and he is on another planet of play. For Shannon to say he would take 7 other QBs before Purdy despite the stats saying Purdy has had the best chance is about his ego being right and not taking back what he was wrong in his original assessment of Brock Purdy being a game manager.
The argument is not Purdy is on the same level as Mahomes, it’s “is he a Top QB…”
@@BMXTrainingso somebody throwing one touchdown and less than 300 hundred years in 5 quarters of play shows that he’s a top QB? How 😂 lol. This man put up 19 points in regulation in the biggest game of his career with CMC, Deebo, BA, and kittle and he couldn’t throw more than one touchdown? C’mon if that’s not a game manager I don’t know what is.
Football is the ultimate team game. Individual stats NEVER paint a truly accurate picture of how good or bad a player is. That’s why Shannon feels they way he does. Because he played the game at the highest level. Sometimes you don’t need stats to make your argument. At the end of the day Purdy is perfectly fine as a starting QB. Some years he may be better than others but I can see him starting for 3-6 years, which is really a compliment. The thing is he’s not and never will be special. The type of player that can truly elevate those around him. He will always have limitations. And yeah 90% of QBs don’t have that so maybe it’s not fair to criticize him for that. But that’s the difference between holding the trophy and having everyone question you. Niners will be fine with Purdy. But they could do better because better is out there 🤷

Not a niner fan I didnt know that new rule. With that said I still saying Shanahan should have gone for the td OT
I'm shocked they didn't know about that rule.... It's in been in effect for a while now
😮💨
@@yoitsmearwyn2519ur a fan bruh not an nfl team who had sb aspirations then didn’t know the rules in the playoffs 😹😹
THIS change was just implemented this year. Last year the other team got a possession if the first team was held to a FG. This year both sides get a possession no matter what, unless the defense scores on the first team
The fact that Purdy catch so much heat and only being a second year player is crazy.
Don't care for Purdy, but he got pushed into the spotlight by the media as some kind of third coming. And when he didn't meet their expectations with a SB win, all of them turned on him.
@@lonuttawhat other QB has other than the two goats?
Nope.. he is surrounded with star talent on both sides of the ball. You can drop in 10 other QBs and have success there.
Garoppolo didn't win the super bowl ether with basically the same team.
@@lonuttahe doesn’t have the best pieces around him. That’s used to knock him. We have good players around him.
The Super. Bowl week was ample time for the Officials to go over the new rules. Remember, the pre- overtime Official told the Captains, at the pre overtime coin toss something. BUT! That explanation by the NFL Official was wholly inadequate and confusing!
15:35 perfect analysis on who should of had the ball overwhelmingly more for the Niners
Shannon and DO chemistry is underrated
Also, that blocked extra point was absolutely crucial to the outcome of this game.
4:11 😂😂
Shannon Sharpe @15:45 "THATNAGLY!!".........WTH is that word? What does it mean?? 🤣🤣💩💩
It wasn't Brock who fumbled in the red zone, it wasn't Brock who muffed the kick off return. It wasn't Brock who had an extra point blocked.
😂he was Mr. Irrelevant for a reason. He is a system QB AT BEST!!!! Sam Darnold would have won!!!!!
He went 8-20 when they switched from zone. He’s horrible
How is Brock purdy horrible he took us to the Super Bowl and he is a good QB purdy don’t play defense
It was Brock who didn't win either 😂😂
@@brandonbrown3857so KCs great defense deserves no credit? And the niners terrible o line deserves no blame? Purdy played well. He’s not Mahomes. You can’t fault him for not being Mahomes
100% with Dan on this 💯 How do you question Purdy when the head coach calls TERRIBLE plays in the clutch?
I am questioning Mr Shannan too...its not Purdy or the rest of best players. Yes, Niners got the most talented players should have won the game but if I'm right the coaches does not want Purdy to make the calls. I am curious now if Bradley and Mahone were allow to make some of the calls when everything is on the line.
Same way they question Jalen even tho he had a terrible play caller this season.
I thought kyle shanahan was the best play caller in the league? 😂
because everyones argument is "they should have run the ball, they needed to keep running the ball" but all year the argument was "brock purdy is the mvp , hes elite" so which is it, is brock purdy elite and their MVP, or did shannahan make terrible play calls by throwing the ball....
@@nhiamoua3286right...i think they allow Lamar j....make calls too
A lot of these dudes living vicariously through Purdy. To say he played awesome is crazy.
Bro like it’s really looking like he’s the great white hope🤦🏿♂️

Not really. Those politicians get there by being voted for by people. You don't get to cry about politicians that the majority of people keep sending back for decades on end.

I'm with D.O on this one with Perdy. He did everything he could. I think he had a great game with the situations against him.
Purdy is a decent QB on a stellar team. He is not up there with Mahomes or Burrow. You put either of them on a trash team and they give you a chance to win. You put Purdy on a trash team and the team stays trash. Just how it is. He's not bad. He's just good.
@@S1M0N3-AI not talking about top 3 or even top 5, but he’s in the top 10 for currents for sure. Even if it’s #10. Not saying he’s one of the greats, but he’s easily a guy that can hold his own. Not much more you can ask for out of him last night.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail
Purdy is not a top 10 QB. Period.
I’m convinced that Dan was the only one who actually watched the game.
Don't you know Shannon is a stat and box score and highlights watcher he hardly watches the game and makes his points without context when it's time to trash Lamar and in this case 49ers.
Dude Go look at the play by play first three drives no points nd they passed 8 only 1 run nd only 2 touches for cmc no points. Last 3 17 passes nd 15 runs nd scored 12 points cmc had 14 touches. He definitely knows what his talking about.
17:47 you can't use the "best team" argument against Purdy but then not put blame on the "best team" for giving up the 10 point lead. That's not fair.
I mean, Purdy could not capitalize on any of the mistakes the chiefs were making. He should take some of the blame.
When your offense only scores 9 points in the second half you can’t blame the defense when they held the chiefs to 16 plus the special teams issues they had
@@webringthebooms does Purdy play punt returner, did Purdy miss an extra point?? did Purdy tear his Achilles while walking on field???
Yes you can. Its actually a great point if you still subscribe to how important a qb is to an offense, and the team couldnt effectively put points on the board with the best team in the league. Giving up the lead is a product of the offence not putting points on the board
49ers scored zero points from the Chiefs’ turnovers. Plus three straight 3-and-outs to start the third quarter without running the ball to eat up the clock is on Purdy and Shanahan.
I mean, it hasn't been sudden death in years lol, how do you not know that? Reminds me of McNabb vs Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick was like yeah, I knew we were going to tie, actually Andy was the coach for that team wasn't he?!?
Your right Dan
Chris Jones was the difference maker because of the key plays he was involved in
Nd won't ever get a MVP.
Thank you! The defense on each team is what win the game. If Jones didn’t made that play on purdy it was game and the crap shot form moody. I think niners loss a huge piece when greenlaw went out. Defense won the game
FACTS....MVP
Chris Jones most definitely won that game no matter how good Purdy played.
McCaffrey fumble and the muffed punt were all on Brick Purdy, I guess
Don't forget the missed XP. The one that would have forced Mahomes to get a TD at the end of the game and not a FG!
with all that they still had a chance to win if he made 1 or 2 throws
@@jahquanfoster6974 Do you really think throwing into coverage while getting decked by Chris Jones amidst ur drop back would have been a good decision? Mahomes would've thrown it away too (and he did multiple times in this game)
