Quick note, turns out Planet Ocean 39.5 mm is only available in a three hand option. But on a separate note, yesterday morning, we hit a bit milestone of 100 k subscribers. When I started this journey a year and a half ago, I posted my first video with the single hope to find more people to share my passion with. Now I have made 100,000 watch friends and I am beyond blessed to be talking about something I love. Anyways, enough being sappy and enjoy the review. Which one do you prefer?
I have had my Tudor GMT for roughly a year now, it's my everyday work watch. Even when I let the power run down and have to reset the time/date, I have not had any issues with the movement. It is slightly ticker than I would like, but for overall value it's tough to beat. Definitely worth picking up if you are in the market for a GMT watch.
I just bought the Tudor on leather. I love it. The aesthetics, the throwback to the colors and matte of the classic Rolex, the clarity of the dial, the price. I travel a lot for family so it will get use and will be a nice heirloom for my son.
Congrats on the Polar Teddy! 👍🏻 I have the Tudor GMT, and haven't had those infamous issues with the date. What I can say about the watch is that it has amazing build quality, I love the domed crystal, the absence of the cyclops (I am not anti cyclops), no crown guards, the bevels from lug to lug (over and under), the price and relative availability... however, although I am ok with 41mm, it is thick AF! Definitely a purely sports watch in my case, doesn't fit under my shirt cuffs. Another "plus" it has, that I never hear anyone mentioning, is that the bezel clicks in half hour increments. As opposed to Rolex GMT Masters for instance. Probably not that useful, unless you're vacationing in the Maldives... But little more fun for "bezel fiddlers" like myself. Another great vid sir
I agree with Teddy here. Owning both watches, I can say for sure that both are large watches, but Tudor tends to just sits into my wrist, while the PO demands more presence that people would either love it or hate it. A story to share: when I was looking for a GMT watch back two years ago, I was struggling between the PO or the Tudor. I called the ADs and pretty much none of the ADs within a radius of 200 miles had the Tudor, and most of them would not put me down on the waitlist. Finally I got a sales rep at an AD near Seattle that would would put me on the waitlist, so I did. But he didn't know when he would have the GMT, so I thought, what the heck, it might be forever until he had one, so I went ahead and bought the Omega, the Titanium version of the same watch Teddy reviewed. I was very pleased with it, and it's relatively light weight and VERY ACCURATE, only gain 2-3 secs a WEEK! But just 3 days later, the sales from that AD called me and said he had one Tudor and asked me if I would take it! But I already used my budget on the PO so I had to decline. Even though the Omega was brilliant, I still got this feeling about what a chance I missed! Fast forward two years and a pandemic, since my local mall is now open for business, I went to the AD yesterday to check out if they had any Rolex in store, and was not thinking about Tudor at all. As usually, they only had one model, the Cellini, in store and along with a few ladies watches, so I figured I would check out Tudor. And to my biggest surprise, they had the GMT in store! So even though I was not planning on buying, I didn't want to regret later that I missed it again. So I went ahead and bought it, and now they sat side by side in my collection!
I have a 6.5 “wrist and I own the Tudor. I was a bit skeptical prior to receiving it because I prefer 39-40mm watches. Plus I wasn’t thrilled about the height, but when I got it, it fit perfectly on my wrist. Not bulky not clunky. Actually pretty nice and flush . I also have a Longines 40mm Ceramic Hydroconquest which is smaller and thinner but the Tudor actually almost wears the same way. So.... I love it.
Both are awesome watches but I prefer the BB GMT. I bought mine a few months ago and I love it in every single way. Impressively accurate (+ 2 sec. per week) very well built and great quality. Fantastic video and many thanks for sharing.
What’s the overall better watch here? The Omega. Whats the better pure GMT? The Tudor I would probably get the Omega personally however, the Tudor is an awesome watch too.
I’d personally take that Planet Ocean over the Black Bay GMT, but both are too big for my wrist, so I would rather save up more and get a 40mm Explorer II instead. Speaking of which, congrats on your new Rolex, Teddy!
Great reviews. One thing that I think should be pointed out is that the Omega Planet Ocean has the old Omega asymmetrical case that incorporates the lug guards. Same with the Speedmaster Moonwatch case. So a 42mm Planet Ocean is really only a 40mm watch when looking at the Bezel width. A 42mm Planet Ocean wears smaller than a 41mm Black Bay, with the 42mm Planet Ocean having a smaller bezel width and shorter lug to lug length. Of course you are talking about a 44mm watch here (and very thick). I find in annoying that Omega (and many other companies) automatically increase the case size for complications like GMT and chronographs when I know full well they can make it in the smaller size. As if anyone who would like a GMT complication for some reason also wants a larger watch.
@@drwindsurf Sure, it's not for everyone, but neither is the Tudor BB GMT or especially the Omega Planet Ocean GMT. I have the SBGE201, it's 43.5mm with a short lug2lug and it wears like a 41.5mm, certainly better than the Tudor BB GMT which I have been offered by and tried at 2 AD's.
I went with a Steinhart Ocean GMT (coke bezel) for the look and a Glycine Airman Purist for historical value as it actually slightly predate the Rolex GMT-Master for dual time zone pilot watch. Think the Airman has also been to space, though, the first watch on my list in the higher price range is the Omega Speedmaster Professional.
Congrats on 100k and enjoy the Explorer 2. Looks great. Awesome video too. Love these head to head videos. Would love to see black bay 36/39 vs explorer 1
Just got the Tudor, OMG it’s amazing. Beautiful watch, anyone with a mid sized or above wrist (I.e. close to 7 inch plus) should love the presence it gives and the tool watch vibe. Not a slim dress watch, and not trying to bridge the dress / sports gap like the Rolex GMT. Just all masculine tool aesthetic with travel charisma. Great review :-)
The Tudor has a very tidy design compared to the Omega. I have tried the Tudor on and although I have a slim wrist it looks fine. The BB58 looks too small. Although it has the dimensions of the 1950s original, there is something that every single reviewer has missed: the ratio of bezel to dial. The bezel is too wide for the dial. It’s perfect on the 41.
Hello there! I was looking for a comparison video beteeen Tudor BlackBay 58 and Omega Planet Ocean 39,5mm. I searched everywhere but none identified! Many thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can you compare a Tudor black bay 58 with the new seamaster 300? I’m considering both so I can have a blue and a black option but which to go for first?
Really good video. Great production quality and a really compelling comparison with good and bad points on both sides. One small note: the Omega 8605 isn't part of the antimagnetic series. That would be the master chronometer 8906, which in a slightly revised GMT. A bit thinner and with a two tone bezel. It's a more handsome and marginally more wearable watch.
Arthur Montiel Thanks for pointing that out. Also, the Tudor has a full balance bridge, free sprung balance wheel and silicon hairspring as well, only mentioning it for the Omega makes it sound like these are differences between the two...

Black bay 58 and omega po 39.5 mm 8800 movement are the best for 6 inch wrist🤘👍
In a move to buy my next watch (Rolex Pepsi GMT) at list price to put in rotation with the rest of the collection (Sub, Speedy, BP & MKXV) I have been building a relationship with my local AD - to that end I had a choice of the Tudor GMT or Pelagos LHD. After much deliberation I chose the GMT and have not been disappointed. In the flesh it is a LOT more impressive than the videos and the quality is way up there with classic Rolex. I have been very happy with this watch and for a nanosecond it made me rethink by Rolex GMT hankering. It's that good.
@@TeddyBaldassarre I could see that being a good excuse from them....but how difficult is to read on the PO? By the way...congrats on the 100k achievement👏👏👏
Great review Teddy. Love your Chanel. Easy to listen to and informative. In regards to the PO bracelet...I don't believe there's a micro adjustment.. Unless there's an update im unaware of. Either way, both beautiful watches. Id go with the planet ocean GMT all day though.
I have the Tudor and the date skipping was an issue, but I returned it to be fixed and Tudor resolved it very quickly. Also, need it to be on the bracelet and not the leather strap
I can't believe the OMEGA "lume Pearl" is not centered in the triangle ... at that price... but hey, awesome compare on that video its helping a lot ! i love your work !
Also, I'll never get why Omega puts Helium Escape valves on all their GMTs. Having such immense water resistance is great, but since it doesn't have a uni-directional bezel its not a true dive watch so why keep the helium valve?? It's like putting the spoiler from a Lamborghini on top of a Jeep, on a Lambo it serves a purpose in line with the function of the car, but you're not doing 200mph around a track and needing downforce in a SUV.
NC Prime totally agree. I have a new 300m diver with the helium “wart” - I mean if they insist on a pretty useless feature make it at least an automatic valve like other brands and not a manual one. I guess it’s purely for (their) aesthetic reasons.
I got the Tudor GMT within a couple months of it coming out. Having it for almost 2 years now, the only time I experienced any issue with the date was when I kept it in a watch winder. It would consistently advance the date in accordance with the hour hand and the GMT hand. After taking it out of the watch winder, and letting the power reserve deplete, I have not had the issue since. This has just been my personal experience.
Really nice video, good comparison I think with these two you’ll have to do a Schwarzkopf...☺️ Congrats on the 100,000 and the gorgeous explorer , cheers 🥂
I went with the Tudor. To me it's the classic GMT unlike it's "over blinged" Rolex brother. I've never been into Omega dive watches but the Planet Ocean is a great looking watch.
Also with regards to the movement: yes, the Omega movement is great and I was tempted because of all the tech and almost bought a Speedmaster Coaxial. In the end I went with the FOiS. It does matter what the watch looks like from the front
I own a PO 39.5mm black on black leather/rubber strap, it looks very classy for a tool watch very more versatile. I love the Tudor GMT and would consider it in a few years when shopping for a GMT
I will be getting a Tudor GMT at some point. It is a gorgeous watch. Two other brands besides Tudor and Omega that offer some really nice GMTs. Grand Seiko has some flat out stunning GMTs. They have a reference that is SBGJ237 that has to be seen for ~ $1600. Christopher Ward has a Pepsi GMT that is like $1200 and hits a lot of the same notes as the Tudor. Christopher also has a 1000 meter Diver with a GMT that is really worth checking out as well.
Teddy, you’ve got a great channel. I urge you to do occasional non watch videos too, like you used to in the past. Good fashion advice, watch strap/shoes/leather advice, some cool tools, watches for outfits so on. Mix it up a bit. A great blend of fashion and horology, at various price points ! 😃 I really enjoyed this head to head. Hoping you do more.
Walked into my A.D today and was offered the Tudor GMT 79830RB, I'm torn whether I should pull the trigger. I like the watch but I don't love it and that might be due to being a Rolex fan boy. I'll have to think about it before next business day to see whether I need to make this purchase. Beautiful watch in person.
Nice comparison, do more of this! I chose the Omega! I would like to see a comparison of flieger watches alternative for the IWC Big Pilot. Great video, keep the good work my friend!
Easy Choice Teddy. Both. I have the Planet Ocean Good Planet Version. LOVE IT. it is tall but doesn't bother me. It's a great conversation piece. I hope to pick up the Tudor GMT soon.
Compare the Tudor to the Rolex. When not considering brandname, price, or hype, which do you think is the better watch? Crown guards and Cyclops or no?Jubilee bracelet or the Tudor?
Hi, what are your thoughts on the Explorer 16570 vs the Black Bay GMT in terms of accuracy? Does the Breguet overcoil make much difference compared to the Silicon Hairspring which is supposed to be more shock resistant in its own nature?
Teddy I went to the store finally as I’m building 10 or so customs... by no means am I hater but had some critiques.... First you stated on a video that you had 10$ nato straps ? I didn’t see any cheaper than 18$ .... I noticed your blue and red leathers weren’t very rich in their color , they seemed somewhat dull ..... I just ordered a Strapco suede quick release and the blue is deep and rich , whereas yours seems more light Blue, at least in the pictures .... the reds seemed to be the same ... just thought I’d off some feedback .... I ordered a rust colored vintage leather , and a 2 piece mesh .... keep it up !
While I realize that comparing the BB vs the Omega is more of an apples to apples approach, I would like to see perhaps a Panerai (say the PAM 00535 or the 1537) compared to one or both of these watches. The PAM 535 is a 42mm with a GMT function, and it appears what we are really comparing is a sports watch with GMT functionality and not necessarily a dive watch (which neither of the other two are anyway with a GMT bezel). The Panerai is water resistant to 100m (not 200m like the others), but if it is not really being used for diving, who cares? Anyway, I think it would be an interesting comparison as I am still trying to figure which way I would like to go. Thanks!
The Omega is 17mm thick ❗️for that I am out...Also if your going to make a GMT out of a drive watch, put the 24hr scale in the outer track of the dial so the bezel can still be used for divers. I mean its a 600 meter water resistant watch w/ no dive bezel❓
Love my BB GMT, I thought the thickness would be too much but it doesn't wear that thick. Still, get it under my dress shirt cuffs even. I love this watch almost as much as my Rolex GMT Master II mainly due to its tool watch charm and lack of Rolex flashiness. That being said, I wish they'd gone for the 24-click instead of the 48-click bezel and given the dial proportions I'd have liked something more like the Maxi- Markers.
I've subscribed your channel, since you had around 10k subs. I predicted, your channel could compete with T*V's TUG, if your video presentation often looks straightforward, shorter, informative and detailed. Thanks for your videos. Happy 100k subs!!
Hey Teddy. Wow, your channel has really grown since I've last followed it regularly which was about 2 months ago. Congrats on 100K subscribers. For this video, why didn't you list the L2L of the Omega? I believe it's a couple of mm shorter than the Tudor. I think it's important to factor that in when considering the size of a watch. More so than case diameter. The Omega is way too thick IMHO but this should be considered. I also think in your reviews you factor in fit to your wrist too much. Consider that the average men's wrist is 6.75" and probably both these watches fit across the span of an average wearer's wrist fine. Then it's a matter of thickness and how the design looks on wrist. Just my two cents, man. Keep the good content coming. Cheers!
Love Omega and Tudor but gotta lean Tudor here. I love the snowflake hands and just overall look. I want their Panda, Heritage, and BB58 too. Also have the Omega Railmaster and auto Bond watch too. I just love watches ugh.
You have got to put the Omega on a rubber strap, the watch will become much more alive. The steel bracelet is simply not exciting. I have had this one for a few years now and it’s the watch I wear most by far! GMT from Tudor is great, but you always will compare it to a Rolex. Just my humble opinion! Great vid by the way!

Keep up the excellent production quality! I’m hoping that Tudor releases a BB58 GMT soon! I love my Blue Bay 58!
I believe that the 39.5 variant of the PO only features date and time, no GMT option.
Ah you are correct here actually. Thanks for pointing this out.
@@TeddyBaldassarre No problem! You had me excited for a second. A 39.5mm PO GMT would be awesome :)
A well done comparison on two GMT watches, both of which have hands sets I just don’t like. So for me, the choice would be.....neither.😉
Dan’l 56 absolutely agree with you 👍
Congrats Teddy on 100k subs. Keep doing great things.
I really enjoyed this head to head.
Would like a vs video between the pelagos vs seamaster 300m.
BTW congrats on 100K!!!
THank you man!
Nice comparison, do more of this! I chose the Omega! I would like to see a comparison of flieger watches alternative for the IWC Big Pilot. Great video, keep the good work my friend!
I am planning on doing a Flieger round-up video!
Teddy Baldassarre nice, I’m anxious to see it!
Tudor......extraordinary watch in all aspects...love everything about it....
Llooooove the Tudor GMT it just draws the eye 👁
Sube este video en español, por favor 🙏
Congrats on 100K!
Thanks!
Are co axial movements really in house or just modified ETAs?
Thanks for that Teddy. What is the glass frame you are wearing?
Cheers
Planet Ocean 👍
Cheers for review.
I bought the Tudor. But the GMT hand on mine doesn't have lume? I wish I had gone with the OMEGA now!
The Omega is 17mm thick ❗️for that I am out...Also if your going to make a GMT out of a drive watch, put the 24hr scale in the outer track of the dial so the bezel can still be used for divers. I mean its a 600 meter water resistant watch w/ no dive bezel❓
Congrats on the 100k subscribers!
So..., how does the movement go to the Omega? Tudor has a higher beat, longer power reserve, COSC certified, and antimagnetic.
Cheers!
9:13 Which leather strap is that , I have metal I would replace it with leather strap like that ? thanks nice review . Like + SUB
