Milk Bar's cornflake marshmallow cookies are seriously the best cookies I've ever had in my life! I highly recommend. The cornflakes make a huge difference.
I don't why Christina having haters because of her cake that has lots of sprinkles and she even served at Masterchef 100 celebration and saying that Chef Ramsey would hate her for using can foods for dinner sandwich...Christina is such a normal person and grew up with can foods, cookies and lots more ...Like if you like her so much
When I watch something like this I almost regret my lack of a sweet tooth. ;) It looks so amazing, but I could never eat it. When I buy cakes from the bakery, I have to scrape the frosting off to be able to eat a slice without getting sick. Sigh. But I do love watching Christina's creations come into being. Thanks
What is this background music supposed to do for me as a viewer? Why would you play something so irritating during an instructional video where viewer participation is required?
dRxAces Can't a girl like her sweets? There's no inherently "good" or "bad" foods, just things you should eat in moderation like she said. No shame, girl :) *****
Exactly! I've made this cake about 5 times now and it's a huge hit every time. I make the full amount of fudge sauce then drizzle the remaining sauce on each cake layer when I put it together. I don't know why the recipe doesn't have the amounts broken down to fit what you actually need for the chocolate cake.
I'm not entirely sure if this would work, but I do know that you can substitute roasted nuts with roasted soy beans. Now making a roasted soybean butter? That I do not know if it is possible, but you can always try and see! :)
from my experience making this cake, I found that every component tastes *amazing*, but put all together, it was a bit much. So rich. And the recipe calls for way too much coconut.
Tried making this. It was very difficult. My crack pie filling, no matter how long I baked it, just stayed a watery dish of butter. I let it sit for an hour and it finally thickened up. Could use more details on how to do this though I think the point of the video is not to show you how really. I'm going to try again and see if I can figure some things out. Also, my pecan butter never got anywhere near as liquidy as hers and I had nowhere near as much despite using 3/4 of a cup of pecans and "a splash of grapeseed oil." I ended up with a handful of paste. I made it work, but I'm missing something there as well.
Never tried again. It was delicious, but so not worth it. She can happily share her recipes because she knows most people won't bother. Not hating. Just anticipating her opening a location in Texas to save me the work. 😜
I didn't see that recipe in the cookbook. I seen the chocolate chip cake. I seen the birthday cake the banana cake but not this on. I look again maybe I missed it.
Yngwie Hafleur Christina Tosi was the pastry chef at both wd~50 and Bouley, both Michelin starred restaurants....she spent years making perfection on a plate. Now, she has decided to be relatable, unfussy and unpretentious with these cakes because she realizes that its about flavor above anything else. Her remarkable success with Milk Bar speaks to that.
Could anyone explain why she uses both brown and regular sugar in the batter? I keep seeing that in cake recipes, does it really make that much of a difference in flavor?
It's not groundbreaking differences, but brown sugar creates a more caramelly taste - like the difference between simple syrup and golden syrup. It's cut with regular sugar in case the flavour becomes too heavy. You can always just substitute for regular sugar :)
Corn Powder is WHOLE freeze dried corn ground very fine. Corn Starch is derived from an entirely involved process so they are only alike in that they are both derived from corn. They taste completely different. Corn Powder I believe is used as a flavor in recipes and corn starch is used as a thickening agent.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corn_starch
I´m from germany and I never heard of that cake and it also sounds not very germanly^^ We wouldn´t use most of the ingredients, for example we would use vanilla sugar and not vanilla extract!
she never stopped smiling in this video
and that's a good thing
no bcos it feels like she's forcing it and its SO ANNOYING
Theres 2 kinds of people ^
right
I'll be smiling too if I'm baking this amazing cake without calorie counts in mind :)
This would take me at least 6 hours to make... So many components!
they make it 24 hours-and hundreds of them too
It does, I made this for my MILs 75th bday, took all damn day lol
Milk Bar's cornflake marshmallow cookies are seriously the best cookies I've ever had in my life! I highly recommend. The cornflakes make a huge difference.
If I could put my thumb more than once up, I deffinitely would. Please go back to this place because both of you are amazing together ^^
true chiz
I can't wait to watch this !!!
She looks way more chill and down to earth here
She looks so different from how she looks on Master Chef
The producers make all the women on that show wear makeup, even the contestants.
Yeah....
Makeup changes everything!
I didn't even realize that was her wow
Damn, didn't even know that was her. I knew she looked familiar.
7:05--- she said, "i gotta take another one" but that piece on her spoon never went to her mouth.

Mean Girls
Christina Tosi is the best! Can't wait to visit her in New York!
The frosting and the cake are HALF the recipe and neither are shown in this video lol. This was more of a "get half the dish" video.
www.popsugar.com/food/Momofuku-Milk-Bar-German-Chocolate-Cake-Recipe-34778995 here is the entire recipe
I need to eat this next time I'm in New York!!
Love your videos 😊

I don't why Christina having haters because of her cake that has lots of sprinkles and she even served at Masterchef 100 celebration and saying that Chef Ramsey would hate her for using can foods for dinner sandwich...Christina is such a normal person and grew up with can foods, cookies and lots more ...Like if you like her so much
it looks like there's a lot more quantities than the recipe they said on the video
A few ingredients were mixed together in one bowl. So like the brown sugar bowl was mixed with other mentioned ingredients.
Yeah, the chocolate filling magically appeared from nowhere.
3 tbsp of cream does not look like how much she added in.
My mouth is watering!!! *smacking my mouth*..
Going to new york at the end of july!!! going to the milk bar and the culinary school, i'm gonna go other places but soooo happy
Thanks
That background music is horrid. So unnecessary. I stopped watching partway through.

The gooey filling is very similar to Canadian tarte au sucre. Yum!
I’m making this for my dads 70th birthday in May!!
ich komme aus Deutschland und ich habe noch nie was davon gehört
It's not called German chocolate cake because it's from Germany. The American guy that invented it was called Sam German and it's named after him.
BrainyCrafter Cool thanks. I always wondered...

The host's face was plastered with that fake smile the whole time lol
Gassing up the Lear for that Cake Right Now!!!!

What is this background music supposed to do for me as a viewer? Why would you play something so irritating during an instructional video where viewer participation is required?

She doesn’t stop smiling omg
Could you do a recipe on how to make Milky Ways? :D
I am the first commenter keep up with the good recipes and I love you
Awesome
PERFECT!
I'm from Germany and I've never seen a cake like this, so in my opinion not a classic German cake but it still looks amazing :D
I think it's actually because German was the last name of the guy who invented the cake
That looks so delicious! A little bit too sugary for me though. You guys are so cute together :)
The host is smiling but inside she is crying when she realises that filling is pure starch and sugar and nothing else.
***** bullshit
dRxAces Can't a girl like her sweets? There's no inherently "good" or "bad" foods, just things you should eat in moderation like she said. No shame, girl :) *****

What do you do with the rest of the 'fudge sauce', when you only use 3 tablespoons in the cake recipe?
Exactly! I've made this cake about 5 times now and it's a huge hit every time. I make the full amount of fudge sauce then drizzle the remaining sauce on each cake layer when I put it together. I don't know why the recipe doesn't have the amounts broken down to fit what you actually need for the chocolate cake.
What was she deconstructing?
Pam E the pecans
Drinking game: take a sip every time she uses the word "so," see if you can stay sober.
The ladies surely don't look like they eat much of their creations.
a lot of girls who make constant sweets and candies have eating issues. just the facts.
That I believe.
Christina actually is obsessed with junk food, american desserts (like deep fried twinkies), etc. she probably just have a fast metabolism
and she runs a lot too. some people are just salty
I saw Christina in another video say that the rules in her kitchen were that you had to wear a scarf that her mom makes. I see she had hers on.
Hi! What's the recipe for the actual cake part?
What can you use to substitute for the pecan crunch layer? My boyfriend would love this cake, but he's allergic to nuts :(
I'm not entirely sure if this would work, but I do know that you can substitute roasted nuts with roasted soy beans. Now making a roasted soybean butter? That I do not know if it is possible, but you can always try and see! :)
I haven't! Thanks so much. I will definitely check it out. :)
What is corn powder?

0:11 "New Yerk city" people that aren't from up north talk funny💀💀
That cake seem so hard, they barely can stick the fork into it. WTF? I thought a cake should be moist, creamy, fluffy and something like this.
Mamaie DelaFetesti
Tru
What's the difference between German chocolate cake and regular chocolate cake ?
German chocolate cake has coconut in it
There was no Groom in the party, Omar was in Canada then. BUT, he treated me at the airport as a royalty when I arrived!
Wuss poppin jim🅱️🅱️o
isn't this just...a gooey butter cake
What is "European style butter"? Are there many styles of butter?
Cultured butter, meaning that bacteria makes it slightly soured. Most butter in America is sold fresh with the extra step.
I'm European and I never knew that. Thanks, sweetwater88.
The portions don't match what's they're displaying on screen
right I agree - wish they would explain that
What is the device you use to stack the layers
Acetate plastic and a 6 inch ring mold. :)
Amina Kamran That is also how retarded professional cooks make a cake. No technical skill required.
Acetate and cake ring. How many french chefs do too... Why does Tosi have so many people hating on her?
She is sloppy. And that is a trait not associated with great pastry chefs. Also fuck you.
Yngwie Hafleur Christina Tosi was the pastry chef at both wd~50 and Bouley, both Michelin starred restaurants....she spent years making perfection on a plate. You can always just substitute for regular sugar :)
October Oh, cutting it with regular sugar so it doesn't get too heavy makes sense.
Thanks for answering! :)
take a shot every time they say crack pie
Can I make this with non-holy salt? Or is the God essential?
What is corn powder??
She meant corn starch
+LeveDiy No! corn powder is ground freeze dried corn. Christina tosi mentions it in her first cookbook
Joel Mayol yep which is corn starch they are the same
no
