It’s really nice when you find a non pretentious foodtuber who doesn’t constantly crack jokes and smashcut themselves throwing ingredients on a cutting board
Somehow, you manage to make your clumsiness in the kitchen the funniest thing ever: I've been binge watching your videos since last night, and I simply can't get bored. I've come to enjoy your messiness much more than just watching a regular recipe perfectly executed
I made this last Thanksgiving and my family could not stay away from it. A slice and then a bite followed a bite, with them standing at the kitchen counter nomming until it was gone.
I got a few books of Christina tosi and before I put my fingers on any of the recipes, I found your channel. Thank you for all the hard work, that I can "evaluate" the work load...
I remember seeing her on a documentary where she talked about how she made the 1st one. She said it was used with milk that had cornflakes soaked in it so not sure how it got to ordering a specific corn powder on Amazon. Regardless I love your accurate depiction of what most of us experience in the kitchen. Great video.
You should try to make a shoo fly pie. A Pennsylvania Dutch dessert. Choose a recipe that says “wet bottom” not regular. The regular is good, but the wet bottom is better! I think you might like it.
You never said if it came out just like the ones in the store lol I'm trying to save some money! I will be saving and attempting this recipe. The fact that you weren't perfect and it still came out good made me feel better.
I'm just here for Jamie's transformation from twink to twunk to otter in a matter of three short years. Most guys take a decade to make the full change of life.
Every time I see a cooking video that has leftover egg whites, I can't help think "Meringues!". Especially the idea of trying to make something vaguely resembling the zucker flavoured meringue cookies I had in Dresden 4+ years ago. Note, zucker = sugar, so they were plain sugar flavour. I loved them.
I made it 2weeks ago and I noticed the measurings were too big, so i halved into 2 and than another dividing of the ingredients. I was pleased at the results but I looked at it as a cross of a portuguese dessert we have which is "queijadinhas" and a oatmeal cookie. I recently discovered your channel and enjoy watching you. Keep up the good work and commitment to creating good content!
I actually have 2 KitchenAid stand mixers! The first one I bought was the professional model, which is nice, but very huge. Eventually, I broke down and bought an Artesian model. It’s much better for home use! I sometimes think about selling the professional model. But haven’t done it yet.
My my, you've come a long way! This looks amazing, I want to attempt it myself! Speaking of NYC, do you have any recipes from Magnolia Bakery or Levain Bakery?
Well done Jamie...my baking skills are non existent so I can live vicariously on TH-cam through your experiences. Each video seems to get better. Keep up the great work and keep building that following!!! I agree with an earlier comment...convince your other half to come back and critique each project. It was fun watching her reactions!
Wow that is a lot of sugar and butter now I get where the CRACK label came from. I’ve never tried it because it was wildly expensive for how small it is. But now I understand the portion control. 😮
Thought about making this pie before...just never got around to it. *Pie is so damn good that Jamie eats it off the floor* Now I definitely need to make it.
Have ya made it, yet? I haven't made it in years, but I think it's delicious. I can eat the oatmeal crust just by itself, it's so yummy. Gonna make it again soon.
No appliance should hold enough of a electric charge to give you a shock, ever! Unless you open it up and touch something. As soon as you turn it off or unplug it there should be no charge left. You have a very dangerous appliance, take it back and get something safer. I worked as an technician installing systems and fixing machines, I am concerned for you and your household.
Thanks. This is the comment I was looking for. I have my late great mama's KitchenAid and after 2 decades of use, this has never happened. I noticed the Silver Fox, I like the cute name he gave it is an Artisan. I can't help but wonder if there's an issue with that model. Thanks so much for your kitchen appliance safety tips. I appreciate it. 🙌🏾
Fun fact, methamphetamine or,, crack'' smells really good when burned like caramel and vanilla. Or so I've been told. It kinda makes you doubt C. Tosi innocent exterior
Imma Hater haha dude, the term crack pie was chosen as a play on the fact that it’s heavily addicting. It was renamed to not be insensitive to drugs and addiction. Nothing w scent...🤦♀️
Seriously!!! You got shocked and The Silver Fox wasn't even plugged in!!! What's up with that? Please have it checked out. We don't want you injured! As always, love watching you! (Miss seeing your wife critique your baking, the 2 of you are so cute) 😇
I think I have to take the blame this time, my hands weren't exactly "dry"... I promise I still receive all those critiques from her off camera... I agree, it's time for a comeback, It'll take some convincing
The recipe says mixing by hand won’t work I don’t have a stand mixer and won’t be getting one soon I wonder if it would be okay to hand mix the filling
I am annoyed by the hand mixer comment she made. Not everyone has the money to buy a stand mixer, they are expensive! I was all excited to try this till I heard that (though I may still try it with my “granny hand mixer”) 🙄
I tried this recipe, and baked it for 30min with the convection mode of the oven, but after baking, the filling sunk! Can you pls tell me what I did wrong
Emboldened by your first attempt I made this pie. I don't know if I'll ever make it again (except what do you do with all the corn powder? ). It is a damn fine pie though.
The extra corn powder is a problem haha. I make these milk bar recipes often enough that I use it up! If I didn’t have this show, I’d be swimming in it
Here because I'm trying to make this pie too... I wonder if your's is kind of goopy on the inside because you put a bit too much filling? (since you're supposed to make 2 pies with the recipe)
I'm also living in London and I didn't know there was a Milk Bar cafe here. What's the address for the one you went to? I'm curious to see if they deliver.
You are getting electric shock from your cake mixer not the mains power. The mixer has a capacitor inside that is discharging across your hand when you touch the pins on its plug , around 500V. This is a bad design or fault in the mixer and I would get it checked out by an electrician. It doesn't matter if your hands are wet or dry. Just want to keep you safe 😊
5 second rule 🤣 so it’s worth it huh? Big claims stand up. I haven’t made it yet. But heck buying that freeze dried corn here in Australia is a bit dang pricey. Loving the new tees 👍
You don't want to know how audibly loud I gasped when that pie fell on the floor. Also I ordered a shirt from you a few days ago!! So excited. Even if it takes forever to get to me here in Canada lol.
It’s really nice when you find a non pretentious foodtuber who doesn’t constantly crack jokes and smashcut themselves throwing ingredients on a cutting board
Also, one that doesn't present themselves as an enlightened guru and seems actually quite relatable.
Somehow, you manage to make your clumsiness in the kitchen the funniest thing ever: I've been binge watching your videos since last night, and I simply can't get bored. I've come to enjoy your messiness much more than just watching a regular recipe perfectly executed
Love it!! This is honestly the best!! Embrace the messiness!
Yes! It’s so relatable. I feel like that’s more how us “normal” people cook.
I love this too! I now watch my favorites over again!
I'm going to tell you the same thing I tell my nephew: read a recipe all the way through twice in advance before attempting the execution.
😬😅
I don’t think your stand mixer should be shocking you whether or not your hands are wet.
I made this last Thanksgiving and my family could not stay away from it. A slice and then a bite followed a bite, with them standing at the kitchen counter nomming until it was gone.

I absolutely love you! I have never been a patron of a show before but you are such a joy to watch.
I don't watch many cooking shows but this is my favorite. You've got "it". Well done. Just promised my kids a milk bar pie.
Thanks!
Love your videos!! 13:05 when you’re happily dancing and tasting and then it’s on the floor.... Hahahah too funny
5 second rule in full effect!
Best low-tech way to crumble a crust: put it in a Ziplock bag, close the bag, and bash the hello out of it with a rolling pin.
Or bash the rolling pin with the crust. 😊
Why are these videos so addictive 😂
😊
Yea... I binge these vids, too. I’m not gonna defend that.
Funny, brilliant,
You should try to make a shoo fly pie. A Pennsylvania Dutch dessert. Choose a recipe that says “wet bottom” not regular. The regular is good, but the wet bottom is better!
I think you might like it.
That's what this pie reminded me of. They seem very similar
I wasn’t expecting to see you in the UK - both the architecture and ingredient branding took me by surprise.
According to Tosi, the recipe makes 2 pies because 2 pies are better than one and to freeze the other if you only want one
I'm enjoying your posts! " There's some complicated steps i don't feel like reading now. " I'm on the floor
Love it! Your crack pie vid was the first of yours I saw and it's great seeing a glow up! Those baking skills are so on point
Thanks Kevin!! I needed to do it right!!
🤣🤣🤣 When you you were gleefully dancing around and dropped the pie off your plate!
I got this pie for my birthday and told my husband to please order one because I’m not sharing! I couldn’t stop eating it.
Perfect, I was looking for new and exciting ways to make my body even more unhealthy. Thank you Christina Tosi.
😬Delicious AF but be warned!
You never said if it came out just like the ones in the store lol I'm trying to save some money! I will be saving and attempting this recipe. The fact that you weren't perfect and it still came out good made me feel better.
I can't with the pie off the floor! You are kill'n me. 🤣😜
Oh, and I bought Julia child's complete cookbook because of your show, thank you!
So proud of you, been around this channel awhile now and you are getting better every time...
1:05 you went there
Yeah, omitting flour from the cake first time does warrant this video hahaha
Absolute favourite pie I have ever tried to bake myself, so glad you're making it again.
Well done. The look on your face when you dropped the slice of cake !!!
😭
Put the oatmeal base mixture in a sandwich bag and crush them that way. Simple.
I was going to say… standard lo-fi way to make crumbs for a pie crust.
I'm just here for Jamie's transformation from twink to twunk to otter in a matter of three short years. Most guys take a decade to make the full change of life.
We love a GROWTH 🌱
I've seen recipes for this one that also have freeze dried ground corn in it and some that don't. It actually sounds good to me.
I use the Nigella Lawson tip- make a Pavlova. It’s on here somewhere.
In the south, this is called chess pie or vinegar pie which has been around for 200 years you just renamed it and covered it with powdered sugar
8:01 13:08🤣🤣🤣 I laugh so fucking hard sometimes watching your vids. So glad you leave your mess ups in.
Both those unfortunate events had to stay in the video, no way I'm leaving those out
I made it 2weeks ago and I noticed the measurings were too big, so i halved into 2 and than another dividing of the ingredients. I was pleased at the results but I looked at it as a cross of a portuguese dessert we have which is "queijadinhas" and a oatmeal cookie.
I recently discovered your channel and enjoy watching you. Keep up the good work and commitment to creating good content!
Whats with that eh?! I don't think it's clear enough in the recipe that it makes 2 pies!!
Thank ya! I've heard good things about the Queijadinhas!
I love how enthusiastic you are and I love to see you improve your one of my fav youtubers😊💖💖
Thank you thank you!! 🙌🏼👊🏻
I actually have 2 KitchenAid stand mixers! The first one I bought was the professional model, which is nice, but very huge.
Eventually, I broke down and bought an Artesian model. It’s much better for home use!
I sometimes think about selling the professional model. But haven’t done it yet.
It is like pecan pie without the pecans.
the filling is more dense.... pecan pie is gooey and somewhat translucent - not the same
It reminds me of the Southern chess pie.
Jajajja!!! To funny and delicious at the same time!!! Going to make it for sure🙇🏻♀️
My my, you've come a long way! This looks amazing, I want to attempt it myself!
Speaking of NYC, do you have any recipes from Magnolia Bakery or Levain Bakery?
Thank you thank you! I have both!
Magnolia: th-cam.com/video/1CaZ6w8K3f8/w-d-xo.html
Levain: th-cam.com/video/YqOXEPLZJBU/w-d-xo.html
I love that the 5 second rule is world wide
Well done Jamie...my baking skills are non existent so I can live vicariously on TH-cam through your experiences. Each video seems to get better. Great video once again. Freeze your egg whites, Mark on your freezer bag the amount and your good to go.
This sounds phenomenal
Wow that is a lot of sugar and butter now I get where the CRACK label came from. I’ve never tried it because it was wildly expensive for how small it is. But now I understand the portion control. 😮

That silver fox is going to kill you. Is it static or is it caused by the mixer?
Assistant : "SO how many sugar do you want to put in here?"
Chef : *_YES_*
I've never heard of this pie. I'm going to try a low carb version
New sub 😘
You could make a lot of macarons with those leftover egg whites 🤣🤣🤣
No macarons until 2021!! 😅
That looks amaze-balls
Unhealthier than the charlotte malakoff? Outstanding!
You’re great. I made this myself, it was closer to blue meth
the breaking bad of pies
Damn I’d be pissed if they didn’t clarify on the recipe that it makes 2 pies beforehand- thats a lot of sugar and butter!
That's on me... looking back at the recipe, it does say 2 pies.. But in my defense, you have to scroll down to see it
The original recipe is very clear. This guy is an idiot, I can't understand why anyone would watch him. He's like fake news. Misinformation.
Corn powder is just another name for corn flour, which is just a more finely ground version of cornmeal
Not for this recipe. It's called for the actual blended corn.
@@MsBoydlover
Lol how do you think you make corn flour?
It looks so yumm and delicious i will must try this recipe friend
You gotta try it!
I would like to make a motion that Jamie procure a food processor. Do I hear a second?
Top of my list!
Just made this yesterday! Need to try it again with the corn powder, though.
Most definitely! I ordered through amazon!

Imma Hater I don’t know if your in America- but saying something is “like crack” when it’s really good or addicting is very common here.
Imma Hater and lastly, meth and crack are absolutely not the same thing, not even made/cooked the same.
@@Kris-ej4ik crystal meth or crack, because of the crackling noise that it makes when burned.
Sure as hell is not crack cockaine!!!
I used to work in a shelter. Crack smells like burning rubber bands. Lol
You are very cool and recipe so naturally and easy 👍💯
Thank you thank you!!!🙌🏼
Seriously!!!
Great video! Where'd you get the recipe from? Thinking of making it myself but can't find the recipe.
This is so funny! This is how i look like when i bake 🤣
I have missed these videos...
I am so glad I found this channel, honestly the videos are amazing and so entertaining.
Do you smoke often??
HAHA 5 sec rule. Another great video. Always entertained. -Shawna🍁
Thanks Shawna!! 👊🏻
What was Christy's reaction to the second pie?
2 pies!!😂 Great video. 💜
Thank you!!!
Won’t judge you, do that too.
Want to eat that pie now, but can’t!
Never, ever forget your pocket paddle.
Again, you made my day you are so funny. 5 min rule? May be!! Haha 😂. Don't stop making your videos. Please 🙏 . Why is throwing mixing bowls to you?
I’m not going anywhere! 🙌🏼 The mixing bowls are a gift from the skies
ANTI-CHEF A gift from God 😗😉. You are in your repertoire as usual 😂
ANTI-CHEF I do appreciate your reply.
Did you get your goodies from her yet?
Haha she had reached out to me a second time after my plea. I replied to her. Never heard back, never received anything... I gave up
I get it youre the guy that makes cooking look hard
You are such a treasure! 😊
If I make a baking video it would be something like this too 😅😆 I'd forget a lot of things and say it too late 😅
Could one not just use polenta instead of some fancy ordered corn powder?
i love dessert and love to baked, this looks yummyyy but a lot of techniques i know its bit hard
If I can do it, you can too! Trust me!!
How long did you take doing this ?
I’ve made this pie. It. Is. Epic! You and the Silver Fox kicked ass here! Although he does seem to have a bit of an attitude. What’s his deal?! 🖤
Silver fox is heavy on the tude
Your reactions make to wanna try to make this.
You gotta try it at least once!
I tried this recipe, and baked it for 30min with the convection mode of the oven, but after baking, the filling sunk! Can you pls tell me what I did wrong
I gained 5 lbs just watching this.
Chaotic good
Emboldened by your first attempt I made this pie. I don't know if I'll ever make it again (except what do you do with all the corn powder? ). It is a damn fine pie though.

He went to the one in New York City. That’s a long way to deliver a pie!
Oops on the flour last time. LOL. How did that happen? LOL
Hahahaha, you are best! Hi from Russia♥️
I've made this when I watched your last video
Love it!!
This video cause me to order corn powder online.
I hope he was locking that mixer in between adding ingredients, lol

It’s an investment. Haha. I found it for a good price over here, otherwise I wouldn’t have splurged
I’m wondering if you could substitute powdered polenta?
You don’t seem to be enjoying this at all, you REALLY are an anti-chef
You don't want to know how audibly loud I gasped when that pie fell on the floor. Also I ordered a shirt from you a few days ago!! So excited. Even if it takes forever to get to me here in Canada lol.
😅😅 That’s so awesome!! Thanks for the support, Katelyn!! hope it doesn’t take too long
You're so awesome!
☺️
All her stuff seems to call for freezing, maybe because you can make industrial amounts of the things that way?!
Nice
