  • Milk Bar Chef/Founder Christina Tosi is a master at making a cake. And her naked cakes have always been quite the crowd pleaser; beautiful but never too pretty to eat and enjoy.
    Make the cake yourself with the recipe below. The Cranberry-Gingerbread Cake will also be available for purchase at all Milk Bars and online starting December 2.

    i love that she uses (almost) all the sheet cake. so much of cookin shows is about using 1/10 of whatever was made. HUGE pet peeve

      ertakerta id say she probably uses the scraps to make something else, like cake truffles. Just a guess though

    Dang Christina Tosi is such a cool person. She is completely different than how she is portrayed on Masterchef. Bring in this Tosi for Masterchef next season!

      Well on Masterchef it is still reality television at the end of the day and they need to be a little over the top for that. I'm sure Gordon Ramsay is very different in real life compared to when he is in front of a camera or for any of his Fox television shows.

    Can anyone tell me why the top layer of MB's cakes don't get a soak, too?

    • @ninasorianoo
      @ninasorianoo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Gimpaloo probably because it already has frosting directly on top of it?

    What about the tools needed? Certain size of acetate? Specific cake ring?

    Is the acetate reusable?

    • @kroooo2394
      @kroooo2394 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes

    • @Sweetthang9
      @Sweetthang9 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, but it often comes in large spools so its considered disposable...its also much flimsier that it looks, so washing it and maintaining its flatness would be difficult. It being flat is important to its use.

  • @Mnguyen92
    @Mnguyen92 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    oh shit she is also on netflix and masterchef. sick

  • @LeannefunkE
    @LeannefunkE 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why doesn’t she just use round tins?

    • @paulcotter1467
      @paulcotter1467 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      because then they have the browned edges showing and, with shrinkage while baking, it's unlikely they will fill the mold flush to the acetate so you won't end up with those clean straight sides in the final product.

    How... h... how do you slice this and transfer it to a plate? Does a slice fit on a plate?! 😂🤣

  • @bkr323
    @bkr323 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How.....and I say this with extreme vehemence.....HOW did you get that pie crust frosting to come out like that? I've made tons of her cakes and that pie crumb frosting always is soupy gross liquidy oatmeal-like consistency! Come on!

    • @bkr323
      @bkr323 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That being said......I made this cake and it was delish. I just doubled the cream cheese frosting recipe and eliminated the pie crumb frosting. :)

  • @eleo_b

    I'm not a fan of those super high cakes. I want a slice of cake to be able to stand up by itself. This way, one piece of cake is automatically going to be huge, even if you just cut a thin slice.
