This is lowkey my favorite Marvel set of all time. Almost a decade ago. How Young we were. I remember the commentators making it even more hype "It's brother versus brother! Devil Trigger vs Devil Trigger!" 😂 😂 😂 . This is the game we played!
@RLomoterenge Not surprised. Chris caught lightening in a bottle for umvc3, but all it did was keep a mask on a whiny, smug and emotionally thin-skinned player. Plenty of matches where Chris is grinning one moment, salty soon afterwards and then in quasi meltdown on the verge of tears. No other umvc3 player or god acted this childish.
Señor Taxi did not get enough credit for this win. Chris G blamed his loss on PS3 lag, and if it weren't for that, he would not have gotten hit from bionic arm. I think Chris played Señor Taxi again later and demolished him, which solidified claims that Señor Taxi got lucky. But this video shows how smart he was playing. He got the best of Chris that day and deserves massive respect for it.
I remember this era very well. This was around the time people were complaining about PS3 lag and the morrigan doom combination lagging out the game a lot. At the end 10:32 he definitely could've done a way more optimal combo against dante that would've done more damage and dragged out the clock a lot. Chris has always had questionable vergil combos, you can say he shortened the combo because of the clock, still had he done a more optimal route into a swords loop I think it would've done more damage.
I distinctly remember one time at a tournament (maybe this one in losers), Chris was playing someone got down either 2-1 or 2-0 and the crowd started chanted PS3 at him lmao

I grew up with chris in nyc. We used to play smash at his apartment after shcool. The games were always so competitive, he was good but i remember i was a little bit better so we would sometimes be about even on games. By the time we all graduated elementry school (6th grade), he was untouchable. I remember it was 4 of us in my house playing smash, no one could take lives off him lol. You can tell that hes not a prodigy or was just magicly gifted with talent. He enjoys the game and he grinds his ass off to be the best. Hard work pays off!!

I always loved watching ChrisG. Simply for seeing how people adapted to him and his play, if you gave ChrisG even an inch he could come back from being behind and if you won against him in winners he would somehow become even more scary a player in Losers. Dude could look like he was done with the world in Top 32 and still make Grand Finals. I know he is very controversial and his play is samey, but he was simply one of the best players to play this game. Also id rather watch 2h of Fireball loops over Zero gameplay lmao.
Senor Taxi... That's a name I haven't heard in a while, I actually met the guy over BBTAG open lobbies, rather then hearing of him over Marvel 3 (Though I remember when he told me his name he sounded super farmiliar) we were good friends and played together all the time, guy had a strong Orie, and always loved the matches. Haven't chatted to him in a good while, but he's a fantastic guy. It was interesting being good friends with him, since he was NA, and I was OCE, so the region gap meant we played through delay. But both of us liked it enough to keep playing. I believe he's still with UntamedGaming, which is the NA org he's with, along with Jakoman (One of UMVC3's best Ghost Riders). Classic Chris. Can’t understand crowd loves an underdog and shows his negative attitude to Taxi the whole time. His coach(lol) even comes to baby him as he just has this scowl on his face. Then he blames the loss on lag. Why can’t fighting game players just be decent people. Just shaking his head not even looking at the other player when he loses. So many players like this guy.
I played Chris and Spencer in UMVC3 and watching Senor Taxi take Chris to the cleaners got me so hype. I think my favorite match has to be IHeartJustice vs FChamp (I don't remember the tourney but the one where he caught Dark Phoenix with the level 3 at the end) or JWong vs Chris G at Evo 2013.
you can see the nerves on display when Taxi goes for the handshake. I can only imagine trying to play well under all that pressure, with a huge loud ass crowd behind you.
I first entered the FGC because of UMVC3 and I used to catch the tournaments whenever I could. When I first laid my eyes on ChrisG's gameplay I was disappointed and would actively avoid his matches if not root against him at all times.
I was watching this live back then, one of the hypest UMVC3 match ever. Chris G was still the most dominant marvel player at the time...until RyanLV came to the scene and beating everyone.

Senor Taxi... That's a name I haven't heard in a while, I actually met the guy over BBTAG open lobbies, rather then hearing of him over Marvel 3 (Though I remember when he told me his name he sounded super farmiliar) we were good friends and played together all the time, guy had a strong Orie, and always loved the matches. Haven't chatted to him in a good while, but he's a fantastic guy. It was interesting being good friends with him, since he was NA, and I was OCE, so the region gap meant we played through delay. But both of us liked it enough to keep playing.
I believe he's still with UntamedGaming, which is the NA org he's with, along with Jakoman (One of UMVC3's best Ghost Riders). Check him out there, really cool group.

I played Chris and Spencer in UMVC3 and watching Senor Taxi take Chris to the cleaners got me so hype. I think my favorite match has to be IHeartJustice vs FChamp (I don't remember the tourney but the one where he caught Dark Phoenix with the level 3 at the end) or JWong vs Chris G at Evo 2013.
you can see the nerves on display when Taxi goes for the handshake. I can only imagine trying to play well under all that pressure, with a huge loud ass crowd behind you.
