    I’ve been following you for a while! This is my favorite video you’ve made by far! As someone who was 80 pounds overweight, my dr pushed this on me the last year. I said absolutely not & realized I was the problem. Changed my diet started moving my body more and have lost 30 pounds so far this year naturally. A lot of people don’t want to admit they are the problem and the reason for their weight gain. The potential long term effects aren’t worth the easy way out. ❤

    Girl this was so good! I have been struggling with my fitness for 12 years now, this is after I’ve had my kids. So for me I have metabolic issues that I need to check, so I can be healthy and let me just say just because you are skinny doesn’t mean you’re healthy. The mindset many people have with being skinny is so sad and sickening, definitely enjoyed this information video!

    • @janet.ndomahina
      @janet.ndomahina  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I completely agree!! You can be skinny and still have abnormal blood work! Your daily choices + how you go about your lifestyle can make the biggest difference!

    The whole “thin is in” era being back is so true and so apparent. Especially when you go on tiktok and see trends of people referring to plus sized people as “big backed” and even making “jokes” and calling their friends “fatties” like it’s making me cringe and lose self confidence 😬😬😬

  • @nicolethiel6917
    @nicolethiel6917 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

    I feel like the pendulum is swinging back to normality honestly. We're entering a "healthy is in" era, not a "skinny is in era". Good eating, fitness, mobility etc. It's a good thing that we get away from the idea that being overweight is fine. I agree that we shouldn't shame but reality is still reality. For example, we don't shame smokers but we don't pretend their actions are healthy. And no one says we have to find smokers attractive if we don't. Same should go for the unhealthy acts of overeating and not exercising.

    I love this. My doctor recently recommended Wegovy for me. I was on a pretty solid weightlifting workout regimen for 1.5 years and while my bloodwork got better in most areas…my A1C is consistently rising, my BMI is not moving and my weight is stagnant. My PCP mentioned a lot about “food noise”, something I’ve never heard about. Diet is something I struggle with, mainly due to grief which has been consistent for the last 5ish yrs. She thinks it will help me jumpstart better habits. I too felt like it is the “easy way out” but it just may make my quality of life better. I’m starting back with a nutritionist and hoping I can figure something out.

      Just to add to dialogue I also know people in similar situations, I’m just curious to know how physicians will manage long-term usage since statistically. The weight lost tends to return when use is discontinued. I’m getting the impression from what’s being said that this is either a lifelong drug, or a bridge into another drug or program that would need to be lifelong. Sending likes!!

    • @_thebombchelle
      @_thebombchelle 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@xavisxw i asked that question…my PCP said she’d recommend me to continue to see the nutritionist regularly/more frequently to maintain. It’s all mental too. I tend to do well if I form consistent habits over time. I sometimes need help to jumpstart it. I really don’t want to become reliant on it and its also EXPENSIVE so if you can afford it the first time around i’d like to think i’d keep up the habits. I definitely have a lot Of questions and will try all avenues naturally before going for the wegovy. For reference i’d like to be around 160/170 lbs. im currently 238 and am 5’4. This is the heaviest i’ve been and gained 30ish of it in the last 5 years. My standard maintaining weight with decent eating and daily movement is around 205. I think the pandemic, death of both my parents and most recently a dog has been a major contributing factor for my gain since 2019. I hope that i can mentally turn it around vs medically.

      Research insulin resistance you find a ton of information most doctors or nutritionist do not discuss

    • @_thebombchelle
      @_thebombchelle 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sistakimmy7147 we actually talked about that too because I thought that was also my challenge. we don’t believe that to be entirely true now but with my habits thats the road im headed down. I truly believe I’m the result of what anxiety, grief and stress does to the body. I do have friends who on the other hand have always struggled, have things like PCOS and diabetes. Which is why wegovy tends to be better for food noise and ozempic is good for the insulin resistance/PCOS/diabetes. All semaglutide but operates differently.

    Omg. So I love how you stepped into this by saying how we can love something but let’s tell the whole truth about how unhealthy the wellness mindset can be! Such a great conversation with great edits! Walking def became my vibe in 2023 after i had my 2nd son. It was just the easiest thing to do with 2 kids. We still find different trails, or go around to different parks. Now, my aon will plan at the park for about 30 min and then come say ‘I wanna go for a walk’ 😅 I love it. Now it’s become our thing…

    As a size 10 I support the true goal of the body positive movement. What I don’t like are the extremes that movements like these tend to move towards. Promoting obesity isn’t ok either. As just a regular degular person it just feels like there’s no balance and when you give any push back you get attacked or labeled phobic. I agreed with things both of those folks spoke on. I feel like if there is no balance it’s not gonna be sustainable

    I have mixed thoughts on this whole thing as an overweight woman who has always been overweight but has tried for years to get to a “healthy” weight without success. I started dieting in middle school. Yes. Middle school. With my parents’ full encouragement. I have worked so hard for years to be okay with who I am at whatever weight and still try to be healthy. It is hard. And with all that said, I would still take Ozempic for weight loss today if I could get my insurance to cover it. But they don’t, because my health isn’t bad YET. I know people say that we should prioritize this medication for T2D and I agree. However, I don’t love how people (not you, Janet, but generally) are blaming people generally without diabetes for taking the medication. I would take it to try to avoid ending up with the health complications that will someday come from my weight, and I think people like me shouldn’t be villainized for that.
    I feel like America isn’t very good at preventative medicine, and this has the potential to be that. Are celebrities going to abuse it? Yes. These are the same people that abuse all sorts of medicines and treatments. That’s a loophole that should probably be fixed, at least for celebs like Kim who just want to lose a few pounds. I just worry that people are too comfortable judging fat people for whatever they do, as if we’re always the ones being greedy.

    I worked at JCPenney for 9.5 yrs and the clothing sizes that always ended up on the clearance rack were the xs & small. And I would always think why on earth does JCP keep ordering so much in the sizes that don't sell. Clothing companies have a monopoly on what clothes are available and they are assholes. They collectively decide sizes, fit, & color available. And we don't have real choices. The buyer is blamed for fast fashion but the manufacturer is the one making clothes that fall apart so you can't keep it. It's so frustrating. At Lowe's last Christmas I saw an endcap of sweat shirts and the largest size was Large.... For men... doing manual labor. Where do construction workers get clothes that fit them? This plus size problem affects men and women. And I've been mad about it my whole life

    And yes sometimes the body is just not bodying, and it doesn't look good on that specific outfit, so either change the outfit and get something that is fit for u or change your body and make it fit in that outfit (if u like it that much) which is a choice that not every is going to take but they would rather "COMPLAIN"
