They struggle with it cause it's a made up problem, which is why no one has a solution for it. "Feeling" a muscle is not a precursor for growth at all. You're not gonna "feel" your traps doing heavy rows or deadlifts but they sure as hell are gonna grow.

Didn’t really feel it in my hamstrings while I was doing the exercise but, now here I am on Monday wondering when the hell my hamstrings are going to stop being sore because I gotta squat tomorrow! Thanks for the tip gents.
Mike to me comes across as the most S-class top tier spotter on earth. Strict in the moment to help you with your form, but then super encouraging after you pull it off I bet Juji felt like a superhero half the time because of Mike lol.
This was a great video. Juji's flexibility on the leg press is almost cartoonish looking at this knees. It's like they don't belong on him and just move back and forth. It's freakishly amazing.
Try using body weight box squats one of these times, pick a box you can barely sit on when you go ATG: when you go to fail on these you literally just sit there on the box - you can't go anywhere, you're just stuck like an insect on a glue trap... And as you sit there, the burn keeps getting worst until you straighten your legs out. 😅
Dr. Mike was fighting some demons in a face-off during that Leg press, he fell and cried when he gave it all, then picked himself back up saying to himself, "I'm not a crybaby bitch, I'm the fucking man and I'm gonna do what I committed." Beautiful to watch, I felt every emotion through the screen. He went to war and came back. That's a true peaceful warrior. Lovely, lovely, lovely.
I tend to skip training videos these days because years ago it got boring to watch people lift, but I decided to give this one a go. And, man, I really wanna train with Mike now. Something about how he almost switches off his funny persona and just turns into a machine that spits out the reps and sets just really gets me hard...in...in the legs. Because it's leg training.
This is my favorite drama on TV right now. I cried when Mike said, “we’re abandoning smith squats.” If this isn’t nominated for an Emmy at some point I don’t know what will.
Shout out to Mike…I’ve been training for almost 3 decades. Always natty and over the years tried multitude of training philosophies. Lately I was way overtraining and as I get older that was destroying my gains. Your videos have helped me make some great changes and improved my training. Thank you!!

Hope you can make more of those because it's like seeing your both fathers meeting after a long time, even though i dont have any father. That turn out sad, but not like this video, it was hilarious keep it up
As someone who is really flexible I can agree that SLDL is secret DOMS, like juji said, it feels like a good stretch but not really a “pump” or soreness you get with other muscles, but next day or two, BOOM!
I started doing these leg presses after starting my workouts with leg curls and It's a struggle to do much afterwards. My legs have improved significantly as a result. Props to Dr. Mike!
I find most bodybuilding workout videos boring af to watch because it’s mostly the same shiz, but dr mike and team take it to a whole new level with the entertainment value and actual knowledge especially impressive since they even do similar exercises in most videos
I'm really flexible from years of off and on yoga. After your videos I decide to lighten up my squats and see how low I could go. Went til my ass was dang near on the floor. Man o man. what a quad workout, and with less weight and no joint pain whatsoever.
My glutes have always taken over in stiff-leg deadlifts, and my traps and erectors also get worked hard like juji said. I'll usually do a hamstring curl or a single leg deadlift in combination to really toast the hams.
@@rmmm6725 I feel like unless you can do it assisted on a machine, it is way too hard and barely stimulate hamstring enough for growth. I SLDL 140kg for 8+ reps taken to 2 RIR but I can barely do a strict nordic
@@minge9 you could do partials with aim to do a full, and maybe complement that with a full ROM movement like leg curl. However this is only knee flexion so you should probably have some hip hinge movements as well
Glad I watched this one, I have the same problem with the SLD, I don't get to feel the "pump" on the hamstrings after completing the set, just as Juji said a "stretch", so I'm always trying to correct the form on this specific movement and get discouraged after completing it, I will just have to trust the movement and focus on the soreness for the next days as the key to know if it’s actually working.
The stretch IS the excersise on this one. The soreness I get from these the next few days is insane, I do them with dumbbells tho. And I've never experienced soreness in my hams with a ham curl machine.
Focus on stretch over ROM too. Go until you feel that deep stretch, without changing your back position, hold it for a second, then come back up. The ROM will come with time but in my experience, if you try to rush the ROM, you work the hams less. Not to mention risking lumbar injury
Your guys’ ankle flexibility is nuts! To go that deep in the leg press with flat shoes and heels down…wow. Even with weightlifting shoes on, I can’t go that deep. To kill my quads, I do front squats on a slant board and they are brutal!

Do sldl after ham curls, you will feel it more. Its like any other exercise when you start out. How many of you felt your biceps on lat pulldown first time? Triceps on bench? Back on squat?

Actually there should be a pump but with a caveat, stretching the muscle makes its facia( fibrous sack that contains the mascle) expand and feeling the pump will be harder cause the blood cannot get trapped in the muscle when the fascia is relaxed or at least alleviated and you cant feel the stretching of the fascia by the highly blood swollen muscle cause it is already streched.
