Not so sure about that. Met The Wife on the 19th December, and by Christmas Day we had both decided firmly that we were made for one another. That was 20 years ago, and we are still very much in love. I suppose it helps that we'd both had bad experiences in the past, which makes one a) more careful, yet b) more appreciative. Also helps if you've got similar interests, and similar levels of academic accomplishment.

This DOES seem to be the case with people over a certain age (40+), where there's a lot less "expectations" and a lot more recognition of one's own, and others, limitations. A LARGE number of my colleagues have had comparable experiences, so our case is certainly not that rare. Mind you I'm Australian, so the situation in the very "selfish" USA may well be different.

I watched a programme where they showed classes for men who learn to lure and pick women to scam, they keep files on the ones they manage to get so they can keep up with their stories and what they’ve said so they don’t slip up, they pick older women, larger women, lonely women,they can get so much money and so many items off them. I have a beautiful granddaughter,her father is Nigerian and the amount of people who think that my daughter was scammed for him to stay in the U.K. is ridiculous, he’s a social worker and has been here for over 25 years, and not once been out of work,but because of the situation of men scamming women from abroad it’s giving other men a bad reputation.
The scam you're talking about is "slaughter the pig." It gets its name from the idea of "feeding" the target (pig) and when they've got as much as possible they start the "slaughter" where they'll say that they're going to move in with the pig, get a boatload of money under the pretence of needing travel money, then disappear completely. I think it originates from south Korea but it gets done in parts of China too.
This is what happens when you're desperate for love. Your common sense goes out the door. I'm 60 I've been in some very toxic relationships. I haven't dated now in 15 years I grew a brain stem and realized I don't have to have a man to complete me or give me affirmations. So I stopped dating it's a truly amazing experience. When you finally love yourself you realize a man is not going to complete you you don't need a man's love to feel love you need to love yourself. I decided I was taking a break from dating and before I knew it I was actually hooked on being single lol I will never have to be with a man in order to be happy. I really hope these women realize if you I truly happy being alone maybe they won't search for Love on the other side of the world and perhaps they'll see the first red flag instead of waiting till the 99th. It's like all of these women are living in a fantasy land. It appears none of these women had an ounce of dignity self love pride or common-sense . I really hope they learned their lessons from this. I agree with all you say. It annoys me when they say they are not looking for love then the moment some cute young man gives them some attention, they are lapping it up. I'm in my 60s, I would be happy if I actually met a compatible companion, but so far, I'm busy and happy being single and being bombarded with texts is enough for me to call a stop to the whole thing - I don't have time for or any interest in all that love bombing!

I do not understand any of this. By any standards it's bizarre. I have travelled to Turkey many times as a single older woman and have never indulged the attention of young men for a second. A LARGE number of my colleagues have had comparable experiences, so our case is certainly not that rare. Mind you I'm Australian, so the situation in the very "selfish" USA may well be different.

I watched a programme where they showed classes for men who learn to lure and pick women to scam, they keep files on the ones they manage to get so they can keep up with their stories and what they’ve said so they don’t slip up, they pick older women, larger women, lonely women,they can get so much money and so many items off them. I have a beautiful granddaughter,her father is Nigerian and the amount of people who think that my daughter was scammed for him to stay in the U.K. is ridiculous, he’s a social worker and has been here for over 25 years, and not once been out of work,but because of the situation of men scamming women from abroad it’s giving other men a bad reputation.
The scam you're talking about is "slaughter the pig." It gets its name from the idea of "feeding" the target (pig) and when they've got as much as possible they start the "slaughter" where they'll say that they're going to move in with the pig, get a boatload of money under the pretence of needing travel money, then disappear completely. I think it originates from south Korea but it gets done in parts of China too.

This is what happens when you're desperate for love. Your common sense goes out the door. I'm 60 I've been in some very toxic relationships. I haven't dated now in 15 years I grew a brain stem and realized I don't have to have a man to complete me or give me affirmations. So I stopped dating it's a truly amazing experience. When you finally love yourself you realize a man is not going to complete you you don't need a man's love to feel love you need to love yourself. I decided I was taking a break from dating and before I knew it I was actually hooked on being single lol I will never have to be with a man in order to be happy. I really hope these women realize if you I truly happy being alone maybe they won't search for Love on the other side of the world and perhaps they'll see the first red flag instead of waiting till the 99th. It's like all of these women are living in a fantasy land. It appears none of these women had an ounce of dignity self love pride or common-sense . I really hope they learned their lessons from this. Never ever let a man pull the wool over your eyes use you or take advantage of you again! When I first red flag is shown don't ignore or make excuses for it. We teach people how to treat us never forget that ladies

I do not understand any of this. By any standards it's bizarre. I have travelled to Turkey many times as a single older woman and have never indulged the attention of young men for a second.
