Gord Olson - Sol and the Drear (Yamaha AC3M demo)

I wrote this song to test out this awesome Yamaha AC3M guitar. It has a Sitka Spruce top, solid Mahogany sides, back, and neck, and an ebony fretboard. I recorded all the guitar tracks direct, through the guitar's SRT preamp system. Plugged it straight into my interface, no mics involved. Makes it so easy to get a clean and killer sounding recording! I'm super impressed with this thing, the fit and finish is exceptional, it sounds great, and it plays beautifully right out of the box. This guitar easily hangs with other acoustic guitars I've played that cost 2 to 3 times the price of this AC3M. No complaints at all, I love it!

Just got a ridiculous deal on this guitar with some upgrades. Grover stay tite open back tuners bone nut and saddle and professional set up. I am super excited. I've been looking at these guitars for years. I really love what you said which is that basically you just plug the guitar and and play. I've had so many gigs over the years where I was completely dissatisfied with the sound and now I can send a pretty solid signal to the board and not have to worry about whether or not the sound guy can get a good signal from my guitar

You can make any guitar sound like a million dollar guitar
Have you had a chance to play this against the newer model AC3M with ARE-aged tops and the System71 electronics instead of the System63 electronics? I think I'm getting one of these this weekend, and was worried that mine was the older generation, same as this one, but the sound is phenomenal and I'm not sure I'd want the so-called "upgrade" even if I had the choice. The electronics panel on the upper bout is a little bit more invasive-looking, but it offers a higher degree of fine-tuning and tone shaping, and I'm really liking the sounds I'm hearing out of this setup.
Thanks also for demoing the guitar with some really killer lead playing, too. So many of the demos online are just strumming, and hearing that crisp note separation was a really big part of my choice to get this one.

Thank you! I do still have it, and I still love it. It's a wonderful, warm sounding guitar that plays great. Hasn't given me a bit of trouble in the 5 years that I've had it! I'm sure the AC5M would be amazing!
