Can menopause cause or worsen IBS?

    I had a cup of coffee 2 days ago and straight after my abdomen to throat was on fire, then bloating came and now I feel as if I swallowed a balloon. elimination - afterwards my abdomen throbs and spasms and it feels really awful. I eat properly and drink water, yet one weak coffee! My diet is so restricted now, no cakes or junk or sugary anything and still it comes on. I was very stressed leading up to it so this time I'm really focussed on the body being calmer. I started Perimenopause in 2017. I had almost 25 symptoms and no help at all, I survived. I so hope this settles soon as I'm waking up every 4 hours then every 2 after it so it's a nightmare. Water intake is perfect and Peppermint tea and Chamomile I drink daily help. Thank you 💜

      Choose organic it has no chemical actually sulphur in everything causing every problem

    I’m convinced it can cause it. Back in January I started having issues that I was hoping would go away, but didn’t. I went to my doctor three different times in February before she sent me to a GI who ordered a colonoscopy. Besides discovering internal hemorrhoids, we’re starting to eliminate foods because there’s still a lot of discomfort. I never had this issue before, so I’m convinced peri menopause can cause it.

      @CYndibabI I gained weight. A lot of weight. I'm still trying to figure everything out. For now I'm on Linzess, which is not cheap. Without it, I would not have a bowel movement at all. I get a lot of discomfort and bloating without it.

      @CYndibabI Linzess is a prescription. I do always try my best to eat as healthy as I can, but I have increased fiber.

      @@CYndibabI I go regularly with the medication. You need to drink a lot of water in perimenopause and for a high fiber diet. It's something I've always drank a lot of anyway. So, it wasn't hard to increase my water intake.

    Hi my peri menopause made my IBS worse.
    I did the FODMAP DIET IT WORKS. I am on a good probiotic and use Kefir in the morning.
    If possible use lactose free products. This helped me tremendously. Ladies hang in there we will get through this. Relisation for me that peri menopause has affected me head to toe...it's crazy. But let's keep pushing this to shall pass. Sending love and light and healing to all♥️

    I never had any issues with my digestion until peri menopause , now I’m a hormonal mess with a lot of symptoms most of them from stress and anxiety too. I have a fatty liver now and have to be careful about what I eat. Chelidonium homeopathy is great for liver detoxing so I’m looking into that now,. Managing anxiety has been the hardest, starting with Vimala Rodgers alphabet training to retrain the brain. Thank you for this video🙏🏻❤️ love all your videos

    The symptoms of menopause are so many that am blown away everytime a new vlog highlights one of the symtons.....thank God for these weekly vlogs they do help a lot with vital information aims at improving the symptoms of the dreaded menopause i got my life back because of these vlogs ...thanks Eileen may God bless you continually.🌷

    I kept a food diary. I never had a problem before menopause. For me there has been no correlation with a food. It gets worse when i have hot flashes.

    I wonder if peri/menopause can also cause plaque build up? I’ve never had plaque buildup issue and at my last dental visit I was told I had to floss better which I and before when I was younger I never flossed and never had plaque buildup. Intermittent fasting has helped me with IBS. I only have brunch between noon and 2 PM and a treat between 5-6 PM. Magnesium citrate and potassium citrate twice a day (1 teaspoon of each in water after brunch & treat) has helped tremendously with constipation and water retention thank GOD Almighty. 🙏🏼 I recently begun limiting the potassium to 1/8 teaspoon in the evening to avoid the midnight trip to the restroom to pee.

      We do know that falling oestrogen can affect the mouth/gums and teeth so it is possible that this imbalance could affect plaque built-up!

    Yes this is happening to me!!! I don’t like eating out now just in case… sometimes even am ice cream sets me off! I hate it 😫

    I don't have any digestive issues before 40..as i turned 40 i start to haveany loose bm in a day..mucus in stools...daignosed with colitis and proctitis..on.the other hand i started having periods issues too,my periods were very regular date to date earlier..aftr 40 with digestive issues i started to have long periods or late periods..sore boobs,etc..don't know of its due to hormones changing effects

    Is this also the case in post menopausal women? Also, don't drink peppermint tea if you have GERD.

      Yes, it could happen post menopause but usually there is the beginnings of change in the menopause and symptoms can then get worse as time goes by.

    Hi miss Eileen have been going through peri menopause and have been having heavy headaches at the back of my head pain in my chest through to the shoulder to the back of my head lost of appetite am confused is this part of peri menopause?thank you

      Headaches are really common in the menopause but it's really important to get any chest pains investigated by your doctor first, just in case they are not related to the menopause.
