Very nice of you to share these kitchen tips. This is what I do too. The green chillies I just break the stalk and store them in the take away plastic containers. Stays good for a week or 10 days. Thanks so much Gita Ma’m.
Very nicely explained Gita madam. By following these steps we not only keep the leaves fresh for a longer time but also save money by utilising the leaves till the end and not end up throwing.
Amma, 👌🏾🙏🏽🙏🏽 very nice , kind explanation at all times... God bless you 💐💐 I am not elder person to bless you amma. Kind hearted,I like you & always my prayers would be with you...💐💐
Thanks for the valuable information, these generally get rotten without proper storage. Thanks for the efforts taken in storing these green.thank you Ma'am. Daisy Robert Bangalore
Namaste mam. Thanks for sharing some basics in kitchen like cleaning and storing coriander and methi leaves.Really useful vlog mam.I tried dalvadi vathaķuzhambhu yesterday and we all enjoyed its authentic taste .My pranams to both of you mam.
Madam, we are also storing the same way by cleaning, wrapping in kitchen towel. But I have tried few times washing before and then they don’t last long. Without washing just storing is better way I suppose. Also not to finely cut coriander before as, if there any insects, earthworms or very small bugs etc inside then they also get chopped without noticing. Sorry to differ on that. Also coriander stems can be used to make tasty coriander- lemon soup. Same way chillies by washing first also do not remain good for long as inside they remain wet and get rotten fast. Well that is my experience. Of course idea of wrapping in tissue is perfect. I use all these items even for 2-3 weeks.
A very wonderful and useful tip Mam, at a time when coriander leaves prices are sky rocketing and becoming very difficult to buy and also with rains pouring and leafy vegetable items becoming soggy. A very useful tip Mam; really very informative, at a time when the price of coriander leaves is "yenaeh vellai"😅
I wash the whole bunch after discarding the roots, secure with a rubber band, wash thoroughly with water, put in a thin cotton bag and put it in an empty washing machine and run on dry mode. We get it spotlessly clean... Dried ones
Hi Gita, do you have a little herb garden on your balcony? I love methi, “like cat nip for humans” so I am going to grow some. Next, I will try cilantro.
For banana stem see this th-cam.com/video/zh4ZpLqBSYo/w-d-xo.html You can also make fine slices and make like salad with salt lemon juice and green chillies and a simple tadka Bamboo shoots are not available I have not made
Can you please help to create mass awareness to avoid green chillies in Sambhar chutney and other dishes to avoid stomach problems IBS ibd and cancer from the surface of the universe using natural traditional methods just as a trail for two years
Yes you can store in plastic boxes too. Tomatoes I place individually on a plate and keep in the fridge , they stay better than keeping all together in a bag
Pl do not store in plastic containers. My aunty who is a Dr says it's not good for health to store anything in plastic. Also it's not good for our mother earth 🌏.
How to store ginger freshly mam, it is getting rotten (becoming soft) when i store it in fridge for more than a 1 week? Should I keep it inside a kitchen towel and store ginger too?
I don't wash coriander, take a polythene bag place your coriander with roots out of the bag and only stocks and leaves in the bag, wrap it tightly and leave it in fridge, every time you remove for use do the same, it will last for more than 10 days
I clean the corriander leaves like how u did. I store in the fridge as u did. For methi leaves also I clean like how u did. This is the best way😊
Very nice of you to share these kitchen tips. This is what I do too. The green chillies I just break the stalk and store them in the take away plastic containers. Stays good for a week or 10 days.
Thanks so much Gita Ma’m.
I dont wash corriander leaves when I get them, i discard the roots and store the rest in a glass jar in fridge. It lasts for more than a month.
Very nicely explained Gita madam. By following these steps we not only keep the leaves fresh for a longer time but also save money by utilising the leaves till the end and not end up throwing.

Greens, leafy vegetables are rich in water soluble minerals and vitamins. So, better not to cut them before thorough wash.

In Thailand we use the roots of the cilantro - they have more flavor than the stems!
That's interesting!
Thank you mam. I also used to store mint and c.leaves like this only. How to store ginger. I tried this method. Its not lasting for ten days.
Great 👍 For ginger you can lightly scrape the skin and then store in an airtight box
I usually make varutharacha sambhar. For that I use the coriander stems by sauting with the coconut masala
Great 👍
We take care of verges also
Nicely explained aunty. Can we use plastic boxes to store also?
