Overall, I like your kit. You did an amazing job packing in as much as you could within it. It's definitely one I would career myself.
I say this as positive criticism btw. It's just my opinion. For a kit that is not for a water environment one should have some MRE ration cookies, or some sort of food item to give you some sustainable calories for 2-3 days, along with some ration water. I totally agree with the Mini Sawyer btw. The problem is that everyone thinks they will have access to water. Sometimes you don't! So don't think for one minute that you will be able to filter water or go fishing. And the first couple of hours of a survival situation many people will be in denial about the severity of it. You need to have a kit that will prep you for the first step of such a situation. That little amount of food/water may be what you need to get you to a water source and/or the denial period. I would also remove the items such as the toothbrushes/comb and some of the fishing equipment to make more room. I would also add in some anti diarrhea medications to fight off dehydration or stomach bugs, along with some pain killers. A head lamp would also be a good addition. Remember, compasses are no good if you don't know your bearings and/or have a map of the region. I would also add a foldable saw to build shelter and collect/process fire wood. For people with bad eyesight, adding a magnifying glass is a must. It might come in handy when feeding the fishing line through the hooks. Also pen fares for signaling rescue. Overall this is a fine survival kit, especially for boating!

Very nice looking kit. I live on a tropical island and if I was to be stranded here with just that kit...I'd add Sunscreen, Insect repellent, salt, and a mosquito head net.
Keep up the good content 👌

Fantastic kit! I only have a couple of small observations to make. First, have you actually used the Titan blankets? They're an awesome company for sure with lots of good products but IMO their blankets suck. Very fragile and they rip very easily. I used them to make a survival shelter once when I was stuck out overnight on a mountainside; even reinforced with duct tape they ripped in multiple places. The SOL HeatSheets are about the only major brand worth buying for use as a tarp. The fragile ones are still fine for waterproofing something but if you're going to pitch it out as a tarp you need HeatSheets. Second, I think we sometimes outsmart ourselves with the fancy "survival gear" products. Those fishing cards are okay but gimmicky. The hooks are pretty expensive but vastly inferior to just cheap Eagle Claw hooks (not to mention the superb Japanese hooks!). An Altoids tin is already huge for a fishing kit, so it might was well just hold high quality purpose-made sport fishing tackle.
That said, truly superior kit! Much better than buying an off-the-rack commercial kit.

    • @DontForgetYourLunch35
      @DontForgetYourLunch35  ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve tested a few of them and they seemed decently sturdy. I’ll check out the SOL blankets too.

      Really excellent video .
Your knife choice CANNOT be improved upon period ....
Your multi purpose cordage shoulder strap is phenomenal..
Your fishing kit with instruction cards is quite literally the best micro fishing kit on yt , I now will totally re design my fishing kit .
This whole kit demonstrates your huge survival expertise .
I don't believe any of the top yt survivalists would be able to design a superior 2.5 litre kit.

Amazing amount of gear and well thought out. Enjoy all your vids. Triple antibiotic is mostly petroleum jelly so it burns well. Could add more and take out PJ. A gallon-size ziploc (and some quart size) to be able to have a place to transfer items from the waterproof pouch might be good idea. Plus you can see the gear inside such bags. For medical, a small single use quickclot maybe not a bad idea for more serious cuts.

i agree with you on the intermittent fasting part. you should take the fishing kit out and try fishing with it, and make a video or report back how it was to use the stuff and make the fishing gear/ spear etc

This is the kit I need for my fishing trips (west coast of Norway)! I have emergency kits for everywhere else (car, GHB, hiking, work, etc) but this is the kit I don't have and really should build. You mention that you talked about the paracord strap in an earlier video, but I couldnt find it. Could you just let us know how long the finished strap is and if its a cobra weave? Thanks for the inspration.

Very nice kit and great links. When I was on the water more I made a re-warming kit more focused on a dunk in the river. I secured the kit to my PFD but made sure it floated so it would not take away from my PFD floating me! Your shoulder line might also be useful if you are crossing a river with a friend by attaching it to your belts. I believe that red strand is a fire strand (seems they include waxed jute now) I based my fish kit around a Fight or Flight fishing kit but they are not around anymore. I question such Grim flat hooks over real hooks, but I envy you that Grim reel. I use eye screws rather than safety pins, but at least one safety pin might be useful for the tip where there is less wood. It also looks like you could just take out the ESEE based kit for a day hike and be well covered as well should you want to go lighter.

    • @DontForgetYourLunch35

@@DontForgetYourLunch35 I forgot to mention 2 L screws placed about 3" apart to wrap line around. It won't "reel" out but it gives you a place to wrap line around as you take up the slack. I put small safety pins in my kit today because of you. :)

For this kit I would give you an 8.5 out of 10. As for improvement's 1 ad a solar still kit 2 move your signalling items to the top of the kit as you would want to be see ASAP and ad a cem lite this can make a long lasting flair tide to some of the cordage in your kit 3 change some of the duck tap to orange as this can be used as trial markers and 4 ad some snare wire as this also has many uses. But not bad at all many thanks

Only recommended item is a short 6 inch Orian flare. This will ensure fire in the case you use that kit on any cold water (kayak, canoe, etc) where you may have an extreme risk of hypothermia.

True ppl can go without food but i think that if ppl lose alot of minerals via sweating its important to at least replenish those by water additives otherwise brain faculties do tend to decline. Great kit, i need to work on mine now.

I think you could maybe squeeze the DD Magic Carpet XL in there as a better shelter element. It’s literally a mini one-man tarp (140cm by 220cm I think) and would be much sturdier than the Mylar blankets. Just an idea.
