Musical creativity at it's highest form! Too bad only the extremely small circle of jazz listeners even know such genius exists. At least we know. Thanks for uploading
instablaster...
Spend time spreading this art form. That’s what I do. Show friends and family. Play is whenever and wherever u can.

I gave up years ago trying to convert anyone to jazz. I have my few friends as obsessed as I am and leave it at that.

Music is culture : many can’t hear these sounds
Brings back good memories... Thank you for sharing.
No way, it’s you!!

this composition is just splendid. Joe Henderson is a genius
so are all of them . ABSOLOVELY !!!
Agree, very lyrical.
splendid x two or three ... or x four
Herbie's comping while Bobby's on another planet at 5:23-5:30 is just.... WOOO!
Something like giants steps
And Ron Carter's asymmetrical bass comping just prior - amazing.
Freddie Hubbard is the greatest trumpet player ever. We miss him sorely.
Musicians in a state of grace. Legends.
What an amazing rhythm section! Bobby hutcherson is wow!
The timing of that intro was just so on the money. I personally lost the feeling of time during his sort of swelling drum rolls, but the second the band heard that 1 bar fill at the end of his solo they all knew they had to come in. Awesomely in sync with each other.
Freefall 207 I think maybe the gong roll section of his solo on the toms wasn’t really in time, and the 1 bar of lead in was a reentrance if Time for the band to start. Or at least that’s the way I always think of it as a drummer, it doesn’t really change much but it’s interesting to see the perspective differences between different people. Typically with me when I have an open solo I’ll sometimes drop time, although some people listening can perceive it as still in time :)
Are you REALLY surprised at musicians of this quality performing such a way; not to mention the fact that they must've played together for decades in a great many settings.?
Four of these six giants have left us. The only ones still here are Herbie Hancock and Ron Carter. Fantastic music everyone.
and tony williams too, wtf jejeje
All of the gentlemen are my musical heroes!
easily the sickest vibe solo ive ever seen
Interaction between Carter and Williams is beautiful.....especially the continuation of rhythmic tension from Henderson's to Hutcherson's solo....
Ron's looks at Herbie starting around 8:39 are classic!
I am extremely happy that you provided us with this gem of a performance. All these players are brilliant and should be highly celebrated. Thank you. By the way, met Freddie and Buster Williams at Fats Tuesday in NYC. Freddie could not have been nicer. I still have our fotos. It is a life gift
Ron Carter; surely the classiest guy in jazz.
up tempo recordame....Tony starts with classic drum solo intro.....excellent!
Man, the blue notes played by Herbie at the end it is out of This World but only possible because of Ron and especially Tony!
Henderson was a master. The effotless ease with which he plays those keys on the sax.
Also, what beautiful melodies that Freddie Hubbard plays over the static harmonies at the top of the form....
All of these guys are expert craftsmen!
What a group of genius joined together!
Wooow! Bobby Hutcherson is up in this joint too...
Mesmerizing. This is stelar line up right here. Top tier musician all at once playing together .... what are the odds... SPLENDID JAZZ !!
"Recorda Me" in Neapolitan means "remember me". It comes from Italian "Ricordami". Similar to neapolitan is Spanish with "Recuerdame".
Music that will last (Forever) !!!
great music from six masters, taking recorda-me new places love it!!!
Man, Herbie on that last head really adding some interesting stuff
i sure miss Tony, Joe and Freddie!! this is a classic. thank you so much. one of my favorite tunes.
Freddie was amazing! For that matter the whole group was so in the groove.
I never ever heard Joe's timbre so big and expansive as here. Did he change horns for this session? Start your day right with a good cup o' Joe
Yes he did actually; he is playing on a super action. Not sure what series though. And yea man cup of joe. Haha!
Joe always went about his trade the way a humble yet gifted craftsman went about his output.
Trace Zacur
Very nice. Thanks for the info. Is the Super Action model another name for the Balanced Action, or does it precede it? I know Selmer came out with the crappy Super 80 series of saxes a few decades ago, and they were all a big awful disappointment, alloy-wise and "improved-mechanism" wise, compared to the almighty Selmer Paris Mark VI and its predecessors.
i think he is playing on a super 80 here
Joe used to have a great old Selmer with not even a speck of lacquer left on it . . . . story I heard is that it was stolen. I don't know if that's true or not. Doesn't matter - he would play the shit out of any sax!
If you put the video in .75 speed you can really hear the work and effort they put into the song
Just heard Bobby Hutcherson live at Lincoln Center playing the music of Joe Henderson with Chris Potter and Lewis Nash! What a great show!
Hancock is clearly enjoying this...
wow Freddie and all these cats are out the top incredible!!!!
sadly they have left us except for herbie and ron. what wonderful artists that gave so much beauty and enriched our lives. rest in peace.
最高♡ Great performance! Great Legend✩ Freddie and all♡
Priceless. I'm crying.
I listen to this at least once a week, brilliant!!!
There was only one joe. Spitting those notes out like that. There was only one bobby. Love freddie on his fluglehorn...and of course tony! Really miss them all. Thank you herbie and ron!
It seems that one person doesn't know what good music is... what an insane line-up!
Tony & Freddie killed it!
Thanks for posting the whole performance! Hutcherson and Hancock go in! Always thought those two were great together!
Such terrific jazz!
Who dislikes a video of this caliber wtf?
My uncle. He’s a dumbass. 😂
Awesome lineup! Awesome music!
天才が集まったこのユニットの「リコーダー・ミー」のビデオは何回も観ているが、正に一人ひとりが唯一無二の存在だ。
永遠に輝きを失わない記録だ。
That dialogue between Tony Williams and Herbie Hancock ... masterful! Nice camera cutaway catching Freddie Hubbard's admiration. Yes, Tony Williams set a higher dimensional tone from jump, maintaining a fertile rhythmic foundation for all to thrive upon. Bobby Hutcherson's solo was transcendent as always, but he seemed to fade too far in the background for most of this set, for my taste.
Top-notch musicians...!. What else?...
Highest level of skills in music factory.
Why do you say that, if you were to check out any of this stuff after fusiion you would not be saying he sounded crappy. His fusion days actually made him explore and from this exploration he became much more aware and sounded even more killing that he already did so if your going to say anything about the TONY WILLIAMS check him out first.
Rip Bobby Hutcherson
I've never seen or heard this before. Dangerous tempo but nothing they can't handle.
Freddie Hubbard Was Really Killing It!
I would give my right pinky to see Joe Henderson or Freddie Hubbard play live.
Joe wrote this tune when he was 15!
Actually I remember this tune, or something very close to it, from a Rita Hayworth movie I saw in my teens. If Joe wrote it at age 15 that must be in 1951, BEFORE the movie was made. That is amazing.
this is my favorite version of recorda me
the brilliance of henderson
I love Tony Williams intro to this tune....F"£$ing BRUTAL....that BASS DRUM...
Oh MOMMA :-)
This band could power up the NATIONAL GRID!!!
What a great tune. Thanks for the composition Joe.
Outstanding! Thanks for this video!
Totally professional, all of Them, and geniouses, what timing!
That's the most Amazing thing I've ever Heard!!!!!
No doubt about this it is the best mix for recorda me interpretation
Luckily I could say that I played with the drummer who played with Joe Henderson, His name: Henk Zomer
Incredible musicians!
just astonishing...rocking it
Jeeez what a band! They're all HOT
The way Herbie smile and Joe looking like "WTF" was that ....most trumpet players don't switch horns in the middle of a solo. Have you ever seem a sax player do it ? Freddie still put it down.
Gee Saul I think he had a sticky valve lol
Brilliant, Simply Brilliant!!!!!🎼
ugh the lick fred played in his solo i cannot get out of my head
An incredible ensemble!😎
Amazing!
its amazing!
splendid!!!!!
Fabulous Tony Williams ! !
(others are monsters too... 😉)
BRILLIANT!!!!
Now this is music!
That was really nice
realy good take
I LOVE the rhythms in joe hendersons playing!! Why are so many musicians today afraid to take risks in their improvisations!!
freddie hubbard at around 8 min. in is hilarious
Thanks for sharing!
You can tell Freddie is in the spirit by the way he takes a solo
Freddie Hubbard smiling at Tony Williams....Classic
Amazing.
This is gold!
This performance changed my mind about, i dunno, everything.
Hutch vibes is insane!!
Killer musicians there!!
This Cut is Great. Good Jazz
Des grands au travail ...
les plus grands !
it's not a stupid question. just adds some texture. some contrast between the blaring trumpet and the warmer flugel horn.
What a great recording. Thanks for the post!
legends all looking at charts so shut up when i need one..
is this song old-standard?
this play is very aggresive n avangard.
herbie ron n tony let this tune lift up so.
bravo brava
最高の演奏ですね。😊
MY GOD AWESOME! the whole tune! ahh...
Only a master can switch brass during a solo....
freddie aint no master, he's godlike
Freddie caused me stop playing my trumpet 30 yrs ago. The best ever.
I didnt even notice that, I was wondering how he went so high
@@sherryrussell789 Freddie caused me to continue playing!
7:16 The bop shines through, still triumphant.
i love this channel
