    Great. LLSmith is so good.
I wonder what cornet he is playing on?

Hey Marty--thanks for checking us out! In this video, I'm playing a Lyon and Healy cornet made in Chicago in 1908-ish. Nowadays, I play a custom Eclipse Cornet (which you can see/hear in this video here for reference: th-cam.com/video/E2iVc4cIHUU/w-d-xo.html)

Victor, I dig your sound. What mouthpiece do you use, and do you think it changes your sound? I want to emulate your sound. How much does equipment matter?

Hey nonh8nsk8r, thanks for the kind words. I use a Denis Wick Heritage model mouthpiece (aside: I'm also an endorsing artist for various Denis Wick equipment). The equipment is not responsible for your sound. You, and the aural image in your imagination, determine your sound. The equipment only facilitates the manifestation of your imagination into reality. I like the Heritage mouthpieces because it allows me to approach the cornet the way that is most comfortable for the kind of playing I do. This is actually the only reason to get any equipment--not because someone else uses it, but because you believe in it. It does not change my sound--I sound the same whether I play this mouthpiece/horn or anybody else's mouthpiece/horn. But this setup makes me the most comfortable in expressing myself. I hope this helps.
