Thanks for making this video. It's very informative. My kid signed her passport before. Should we sign along with the kid on the passport copy and surrender certificate or is the kid's signature enough?
Hi. While uploading the documents online, do they have to be self attested (by parents in case of minors) or we need to carry attested copies only during the physical visit to the FRRO?
Upload documents need not be attested. Will you be visiting FRRO? In which case make sure you have all originals with you to show and photocopies self attested. Also can you share experience of FRRO please?
Hi do you have any idea ...if a child is indian-born and have not travelled anywhere so dont have an Indian passport but recently have got a passport from the United States..what document should be submitted for renunciation certificate of indian citizen
Hi Bill the child was born to Americans parents? I am sure you know that India does not give citizenship by birth to child born to foreign parents. If the child only has India birth certificate and US passport then child is US citizen. I such cases the child will have to apply for OCI on basis of father/mother/ grandfather grandmother. They don’t have to submit renunciation certificate. Correct me if my understanding of your situation is wrong
Thank you for your reply, actually my wife is indian.so I just want to enquire in such cases what document should be submitted for renunciation certificate of Indian citizen for my child who is only 3yrs old and has a US passport but never had an Indian passport
@@canadatriedandtestedoriginal I am applying for a 9 year old minor from Toronto, Canada. Should 9 year old minor sign? or minor thumb impression ? or "No signature" photo? Please help. Thanks.
I checked with VFS > They say Signature should be "No Signature" photo in case of Minors and should match with the US/Canada passport > If they sign then sign in OCI otherwise "No Signature"
Hey my child born in india and i am canadian citizen and my wife is indian citizen, We will apply for baby canadian citizenship, we both currently in india how can i apply for OCI from india and can i stay lifetime after apply baby OCI?
Hi for the OCI, if applying from India you should have stayed in India for 6 months. Once you both have OCI you can stay as long as you want including lifetime without any issues.
My daughter was born in India she has Indian birth certificate but she came to Canada when she was 3 months old as her parents were Canadian but in the page previous nationality it will be India but what will be in the renunciated passport space as she didn’t had any Indian passport
Hi since this is a unique case i would suggest to write to CGI/MEA directly. Reach them on twitter as DM and don’t share any sensitive information. You can follow up with email also. If you don’t get response you have option of open house if you are in Toronto area. By logic she would have had India passport when she first travelled as 3 months.
@Ruby-bf9nl I get it. I may be wrong but this is my understanding. Daughter was born in India to Canadian parents and that’s the reason she got Canada temp visa. Sorry just want to be sure that I understand your situation correctly. Are any one of the parent Indian or Indian origin?
@Ruby-bf9nl ok I get it. In this case she can apply on basis of you as you were Indian citizen at some point. To keep it simple, even though she was born in India there are no valid document other than birth certificate to prove that she is Indian. Best is you can apply on basis of your Indian origin and instead of self choose parent or grandparents and submit your earlier documents as proof of Indian origin. The other option is to go for open house to CGI Toronto and have 1-1 interactions.
