Hey Pooja, basement are way cheaper for rent and its cozy.. it does keeps warm and also super private. Building has also good view and lights. But very expensive too. If cost saving basement is best. Just friendly experience and still is for quiet few years..
Basements are cozy and spacious and pocket friendly and you get your privacy as well. So , As a new immigrant with no job it really saves your money.
I don't know why but I feel you like my family ,watching all your videos. you are such an inspiration!! I'm soon coming Canada for my Master's.

For a lot of landlords what they are really doing is investing in the real estate. Renters are just a way to pay for their investment. So what they really want to know is will you treat the property respectfully, are you going to be law abiding and not do anything illegal on their property. This is actually an area where many new immigrants have a bit of an advantage because the land lord can be pretty sure that a new immigrant is probably not a meth head that is going to invite questionable people to the apartment, do drugs and trash the place.

Hi Pooja, living in a basement is not depressing at all. Many immigrants who come here find basement apartments economical. I am also new to Canada and I have been living in a basement apartment since past 8 months. The experience has been great.There is enough sunlight and it is DEFINITELY NOT LIKE LIVING IN A BOX.
