What is birth certificate and long form photocopy I know birth certificate but what is long form ? Thanks
Hi long form is the one which gets collected when you apply for Canada passport or submit for any official purpose and it is not returned. It’s a form with parents name and is not returned when you submit. Hope this helps

Speak to BLS and ask them what documents is needed. If you don't get any response write to Consulate. How will baby stay in Canada if parents move back to India? Hope you have address to show in Canada even if it is temporary. A call to BLS will help. Keep me updated please

Ho Surname is not mandatory section. Universally when blank XXXXX is representation. My suggestion is to call BLS once and ask it can be tricky to deal with them. Can you please keep me updated on the outcome. Thank you

Hi till the time you don’t have citizenship ceremony done you are still Indian citizen. If citizenship process is done then you mention the updated passport. To avoid any confusion about documents I would suggest call to BLS once

Marriage certificate is a compulsory document for marriage after 2006. If you have a genuine reason for not having a certificate please write to CGI. I am aware that those who were married in 70’s/80’s and did not have marriage certificates got positive reply as not many were documenting or registering. Hope it works for you. Couple of questions
1. The checklist mentions Babys Canadian Passport to be sent both original and copy . But as per video only copy is required while sending by post . Could you clarify if original is not required to be sent while sending by purolator.
2. Which thumb impression to be taken for baby girl?
For OCI don’t sent original passport if sending by post. If going in person carry the original but make sure to get it back
For the baby girl thumb impressions please call BLs for latest and also if you could update here
For baby girl its right hand side thumb print
In the Declaration page(page#3) of the application form, should we affix thumb impression of the minor in the applicant and then both the parents sign the section where it says application for minor child.?

Hi, one parent can do the submission in case of baby. Both of you jointly sign documents where both your name is mentioned for eg marriage certificate. Also call BlS once to be on safer side and avoid any surprises.

Hi Devki, BLS has been quite a challage. As long as address matches with what is there on passport and address proof this should work however knowing experience of others I suggest call BLS helpline, record the call, take name of the individual you speak to and then do as directed. If you face issue just escalate as shown in video. Will save your time and money

Not sure of your question. For OCI you need to have foriegn passport of baby to initiate OCI and yes your resident visa copies as parents. Can you please 🙏 give somemore context here please?🙏

Hi Rushabh, in application for child roots to India will be parents. Parents Canadian/foreign Passport copy will have to be enclosed with old Indian Passport copies of both parents. Also please call BLS once to avoid any surprise.

Hi better you fill application with family details. It doesn’t make a big difference however since you have not yet sent documents just get a fresh application done if you don’t get to edit the application

Hi Nihal I don’t remember if both parents address proof was sent. I think I only sent details of one parent only. Can you please call BLS once to check this part to be on safe side. If they insist for address (which I guess won’t be the case) just get Ontario ID proof made through service Ontario. I guess post speaking to BLS you might not need it. In your wife’s case it will be CoPR and PR card. In your case Canadian passport and if you have OCI too. Baby will get OCI based on mother being Indian. Also call BLS once before you send documents that way you have added layer of check

Hi I used black food colouring agent which I got from dollarama(cake icing) take few photocopies of the application signature section and take thumb impressions and let it dry. Send the one which you think is best. For babies who are 2-3 months will not have developed fingerprint impressions. Don’t worry it worked for us.

Hi call BLS once, they will guide you with this. I know the answer however few of the Individuals have had surprises. Also note down name of Individual to whom you speak. Logically you mirror the address as it is in the id document
@@canadatriedandtestedoriginal I called BLS Toronto and the guy who picked up said I can use the address from my Indian passport for the application, which I renewed recently and printed the place I currently live. He said they still need driver's license as address proof. The Canadian address printed on my passport is one without any short forms. So, I hope it's gonna work.

Yes only physical copy. As long as photo shows you and features have not significantly changed old photo is no issues since this is for record keeping only. Please go with BLS recommendations for peace of mind

If you have new born in Canada, please don't put previous nationality as Canada. Put NA at that place otherwise your application will be sent back like me.

Hi you can walk-in to BLS centre however depending on your location you may experience difficulties as many wait long hours. You may want to check with someone who did recently. For pick up and drop call BLS and speak to them. When you do walk in you will not be charged for pick up and drop service. Please speak to BLS once

Hi yes they do accept foreign marriage certificate. Usually this need to be got attested by foreign consulate if one of the spouse is foreigner. I would suggest to speak to BLS once to have correct documentation done. Also can you please keep us updated as others would get benefited
for previous nationality I did the same as you mentioned 'CANADA NA', the application has been returned! make sure not to fill the 'previous nationality section'
Hi looks like BLS has made changes. I showed exactly what I filled and did get OCI without issue. Did you do walk-in or courier. I believe that makes a difference. Those who did walk-in recently have mentioned this especially after change in BLS fee which was earlier $7.40 which is now $1.7

Hi Arusha, don’t worry for baby it will be difficult to get proper thumb impression. This was the case when we did. It won’t be rejected.

At 26:05 you mentioned that both parents can sign, but the checklist states "Signature of Applicant." Shouldn't that be the baby's thumbprint instead?

Ok in that case yes you can start with new application. Please make sure that after submitting check twice that you are sending correct submitted form. Also call BLS once to check fee and documents to send as photocopy. You will be confident of what you are sending

Hi if you(parents) are Indian citizen with work status in that case you give copy of your visa. For example COPR and PR card in case of Canada or Work Permit copy.
If you are citizen of another country then you don’t upload this section
Long form birth certificate is the one with gets handed over when you make your Canada passport. You need not submit this if you don’t have. Birth certificate should do
