Awesome! I got a E5 2650 V4 and motherboard combo for $30.00 USD shipped. paired it with a 1650 and games perfect in 1080P medium settings.

I just built one of these. Got a 12 core CPU for 4 dollars and 32gb ram for 20 dollars. (Protip use ECC it’s cheaper) Motherboard was 33 bucks shipped so 57 dollars basically for a pretty powerful machine.
Edit: forgot I also bought a basic GPU for 6 dollars. Since it’s a server just needed video out.
I've bought the same cpu motherboard ram combo 4 months ago, and for the 63 bucks that i got it for, it's awesome. If someone want's a cheap home server or just a simple gaming machine, it is a very good way to go.
Oh I agree I was very happy with the system when I got it all put together but I have kind of been lazy and haven't really got to do anything on it I was going to Benchmark it and post some results on it and stuff but didn't really get a chance to yet I've had other projects going
@@iiirbob For me it was a dust collector for a while too 😀, but recently i set it up to run a web server, game server, qBittorent, and to work as a nas at the same time. It handles it perfectly, with a cpu utilization of less than 30%.

Thinking about getting into these boards, but I’ve never seen any long term updates. My concern is that it’s only good for two years max.
That's definitely a valid point have not heard of anything about longevity on these boards as well either or any kind of extreme bench testing for any period of time be something worth looking into
eh iv been building them for around 4 years now, and about 40+ around 3 failed me, try to go for a better cpu doe like a 1660v3/v4 , 2667v3/v4, also try to go for mid quality boards like a machinist p4 or pr9, the newer versions with added letters to the nomeclature have worse chipsets.

@@iiirbob Oh, no problem, man. The CPU recommendation was more aimed at gaming. Of course, if you work with synthetics or rendering, go for higher core CPUs around the 10/12 cores. Any higher than that, you'd need better-priced motherboards with better VRMs. Taking into consideration that Xeons are supposed to be budget options, I wouldn't recommend burning money with that, also, zsus and tecmyio build replicas P4 mobos, so depending on sales and price they can also be a good investment with a cpu and ram bundle.
@@comiumapedra5397 wish that I would’ve waited for your comment. My CS612 mATX came today. I’m mainly going to be converting DVD to 4K60. With my i3-10100 a render would take 12 hours. I’m hoping that the e5 2680 v4 can bring me down to somewhere around an hour… Ok realistically between 4 or 5 hours? No gaming on this one.
can i use regular ddr4 ram not this server ram... ??
I believe so... i will try some corsair vengence ram and see if it works... only thing might be the max ram speed the motherboard can process that the cpu can make use of ... i will see what i can find out about that too
@@iiirbob thanks bob , i believe xeon can use both regular and server ram too but i7i5i3 cant , only xeon can use both type of ram....
