I think it’s exceptional value for money and I’d buy this over any European car on the market today. I also have to say, and this is probably just me, but I don’t understand the issue with people not understanding the lack of a touchscreen. I drive a CX-30 and I found getting used to it very easy. It’s really intuitive, in either CarPlay or on it’s native system. And frankly, I don’t want mucky, dirty fingerprints all over my nice clean screen, thanks very much.

Same about the screen. We have a CX-5 and don't have an issue with using the dial. Safer too.

And it is also safer to use dial for the infotainment while driving. There is one study by German that Mazda has the safest infotainment system.

Anecdotal evidence suggests a lot buyers are put off by the lack of a touch-screen. But once you get used to it, it's not bad - you're quite right.

This represents great value for money. It is better than anything in its price bracket and you keep harping on about $100k car when that’s going to be the exception for most car buyers and the mid spec will be the dominant force at 8$5k.
Panel fit and finish is the best in the market with panel gaps and creases world standard. The quality is all there too.
Future models will refine the powertrain further and power levels will also improve. If I were in the market I’d buy one of these in a heart beat.
People will definitely pay the money Mazda is asking for this car because they know the quality is there with Mazda, which is fully made in Japan.
Mazda should bring out a new Rotsry based on a slightly stretched MX5 platform with a turbo twin rotor or an N/A hybrid set up. Strictly two seater and seriously light weight.
Mazda has their finger on the pulse and will succeed in their goals of pushing the brand further up market.

We certainly hope Mazda revives a rotary sports car. But we're not convinced the new CX-90 will sell in the same volumes as the CX-9. We'll be watching the sales charts closely.

If the Mazda is long term more reliable than the Germans, it would be a good proposition. It’s biggest competition would come from Lexus.

Yep, you're spot on there. Lexus will be watching the new CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90 models very closely.

Kudos for Mazda to develop the in line 6. This is Mazda pinnacle in engine design. I believe the engine doesn’t use a timing chain nor any direct gearing to drive the camshaft to operate the inlet and outlet valves. It may even use pneumatic valves system. This means variable valves timing (formula 1)is achieved by software and calculations of amount pressure from the turbocharger can produce a beastly power and torque. Or a mild manner motor. From the reviews I think the only wreak point on the engine design is the mild hybrid motor. Not enough torque to propel the car from stand still when the engine is completely off. I also think they may have use double wishbone on the front suspension because of narrower of the in line 6. The double wishbone allows front tires to be perpendicular contact with the road with any vehicle lean angle on a radius turn. The Mazda inline 6 engines will be a classic if reliability is achieved.

Hi Tony. Mazda's new 3.3-litre inline six-cylinder turbo engines are really impressive, I like 'em. But they don't have pneumatic valves - just regular camshafts (DOHC) and valve springs. Not sure if they have cam chain or belt. Will do some more digging. The diesel has electric variable valve timing for intake valves, while the petrol electric variable valve timing for intake valves and hydraulic variable valve timing for exhaust valves. As for the suspension, you're correct - CX-90 has double wishbones at the front.

I own a PHEV version in the states and I am GLAD that it does not have an adjustable suspension.
I think adjustable suspensions simply add a mother level of expense and complexity to a vehicle without necessarily improving handling significantly over just having a good all around suspension.

No touch screen in 2023? Very cheap effort for a luxury car. Now have to check every other feature to discover what else they have left out, that should be standard. What a pain.

@@carsales Then you add an I6 with cylinder deactivation, 3 cylinder, then 5 cylinder, then 4 cylinder, and maybe running on 6 cylinders. Take your foot off the accelerator and engine shuts down and trans clutch pack opens. Touch the brake and clutch pack engages the regen braking. Heading down hill and the clutch pack disengages the trans for coasting. Need power, clutch pack engages the electric motor, engages the ICE and starts the engine.
Yea simple combustion engine with lots of more added moving parts opening, closing, engaging, disengaging, hundreds of times in a normal drive in addition to what now seems like a simple combustion engine.
And if any of it fails.....remove the engine to access. Some mechanics kids won't need student loans so that is a good thing.

I have noted one MASSIVE disadvantage is the price - In Australia Mazda CX9 begins $47,600 while the CX90 will begin at $74,385 - this is an increase of a whopping 56% - this is ridiculous considering Mazda's CX90 is advertised as CX9s replacement which it obviously is not - it is also obvious Mazda corp is trying to outdo the German brands like BMW well good luck not with my money

A totally biased review by a Toyota certified mechanic. A Toyota schill. He doesn't even know that the 90 has timing chains and not belts like the Toys. Chains last the life of the engine. I had to have my Toyota timing belt changed at 80,000 miles for $800.00 US. And they had to disassemble the entire front end, took a whole day. Lots of speculation and falsehoods. I am not a Mazda FAN Boy as the 90 is my first ever.
