Jerec 12 The Black Templars are already fucking boring though, I don't think even Ward could fuck up "righteous fury and never-ending devotion to the Emporer". He ruined the Grey Knights which were actually pretty fucking awesome before he got his mitts in.
mryupjup he basically rewrote a lot of the pre existing war turning them into grim dark virgin killing berserkers who pilot the most retarded dreadknoughts i have ever seen the dreaded dread knight basically a space marine inside a space marine. At least I think that is what pissed people off I'm more of a fantasy dude.
mryupjup He just mary sued them to oblivion and made them pilot these fucking retarded anime mech things. They used to be a flawed morally questionable organization but Ward basically turned them into superheroes that come to save the day when the normal legions fuck up.
Can you imagine Malakith telling his troops what unit they are apart of when he first rebelled “Ok you were apart of the Elven Spearmen so you’ll be apart of... THE DREADSPEARS!!!” “Excuse me?” “And you, you are good at slashing and stabbing with a sword so you’ll be apart of... THE BLEAKSWORDS!!!” “Couldn’t it just be swordsman? How long did you spend on these names?” “And you, you are good at shooting with a bow so you’ll be apart of... THE DARKSHARDS!!!” “Did you have to go through this much effort naming? You don’t have to be that different, moreover this is a repeating crossbow, I never used this before “Well it shoots which is close enough to a bow”
hmm... i think it could be interestinf to have "updated" versions of these Faction videos for the UPCOMING Factions, how they could be done with the mechanics of TW WH we know of right now, the map expansions planned etc.
If i were a dark elf sorceress, i'd study every kind of magic i could get my manicured hands on, because knowledge = power. What if i need to grow some herb for alchemy posthaste? Or divine the outcome of the next battle? Or am threatened with execution unless i save the life of some random very important lord?
"You use him because he buffs your monster??" Arch, I don't know about you, but... Any guy who wants to buff MY monster, needs written permission first!
7:57 "The Supreme Sorceress simply being a bigger, badder version [of the sorceress]." No, Arch. I'm pretty sure the Supreme Sorceress is the same as a regular sorceress except for tomatoes and sour cream.
Somehow I deduce that Matt Ward is disliked by many in Tabletop Warhammer. I wouldn't be surprised if some mod adds him to the game, just so people can add the pleasure of saying they they killed Matt ward.
I think Death and Shadow lore can work with them too and well I think throwing fireballs at enemy ships is something these sick beings would do. And keep up the good work my fellow nerd.
I would kind of like an TW empire style map at some point where you can have several different maps and just sail between them. it should work well with the several theatres of war in the warhammer world
A deep sea creature using a gaze attack? Interesting concept, just how is its prey going to *see* its eyes exactly? The Photic zone only penetrates to 100 metres assuming good water clarity. Past 100 metres no light penetrates. It is *dark* down there, really, really dark. As the deep sea is classified as 500 metres or deeper, then nothing is going to be seeing the medusas eyes, so its gaze attack is going to be about as much use as a stick against a fully armoured knight... Looks like your Fifth Chaos God knows even less about Abyssal conditions and biology than he does about the lore.... Gaze attacks in deep sea creatures...
I realize this is a bit late but Arch actually got the lore for the bloodwrack medusa wrong. They're actually dark elf sorceresses cursed by the elven goddess Atharti. not deep sea monsters.
I can find no references to the medusae living in the sea (the kharibdyss does but that's a different matter entirely). The 8th edition army book (the edition in which they were introduced) only mentions them as living in caverns beneath the mountains of Naggaroth.
Nicholas Wright The re-rolls to hit don't happen but they do go at the same time. That is why in elf books they include the hatred towards elves so the first round of combat has its re-rolls to hit. so a blood bath.
Well if you shoot a giant in the lower leg with a few of those chariots and take off in the opposite direction, I could see it going down. Maybe they could do some Star Wars Speeder vs AT-AT bolo kind of deal, wrapping up his legs?
Wait so if the Medusa is a DEEP sea monster how they hell does it kill anything? It's pitch black I the deep sea and most creatures down there are blind so how exactly do they see her?
I don't really mind the Sisters of Slaughter's concept in general. Sure, they're a copy of a Dark Eldar unit but what's wrong with that? Half-clad gladiators fit the Dark Elves' themes too. I'm telling you what's actually really wrong with the Sisters of Slaughter however: they are a rare unit while the bloody Witch Elves are apparently core units, that much makes no sense. One would expect the gladiatrixes to be a cheaper, weaker version of the Brides of Khaine, which are supposed to be elite, instead the firsts count as rare and the second as core. What? Aside from that, I can see Dark Elves having gladiators back in Naggaroth, why not?
I believe that the reason the chabryss doesn't have aquatic in the fluff is the beast masters know that it is such a good swimmer that if they let in enter a sizeable body of water such as a lake / river or ocean that it would just run away and say screw this shit so its not that it cannot swim it just that they dark elves won;t let it because they know it could escape to easily
bcdcool94 I finally got the Matt Ward hate after I read the story where the Grey Knights grand master beat up Mortarion. It couldn't just be a greater daemon no it had to be one of the primarch demon princes.
side_burned not to mention that dear old Kaldor has been trapped in the warp for a CENTURY! and has killed so many demons at this point that the numberless legions of chaos just fucking gave up!
master of pupets by metalica is the perfect theme for the dark elves. go to 3:30 in the song to experince a mind fucking similar to what the dark elves do except you understand what the fuck is going on
well he does talk about half-naked women jumping around on the Battlefield with impractical weapons, dont tell me you cant at least see some common ground.
Damn this was a painful faction for you to work on. It honestly sounded like you were either gonna vomit or go on a gibbering rant about the 5th Chaos god that would make a jabberslythe blush!
CA announced three main games, each one adding a new part of the map, so I think by the end of the trilogy of total war warhammer we are going to have all the factions and the entire map, hopefully. My personal theory is that they are going to add the rest of the factions of the old world with DLC, and the two other main games will take place in the other continents. PS: the dark elves are my favorite faction so I hope they get the full main faction features haha
Witch elves are known to fight topless you know of you back them up with heavy armor or medium armor to bog them down and flanking archers ect maybe a stelth
hmm how to make spear-men form multiple ranks fighting defensively show up in a total war game i think they did that before arch its called a Phalanx i belive
A way you could work the Dark Elves into Total War: Warhammer is to make their starting position a fleet of a handful black arks that land on the coast somewhere on the map
Seems to me like the Doomfire Warlocks would basically be the Dark Elven army missile cav. Their 'magic' could prevent them from being slaughtered by enemy missiles (hat tip to the ward save) and they could have two different types of magic 'missiles', e.g. different ranges or strength with corresponding 'cooldowns' or 'expenses' of 'mana' per what is needed for balance. That strays from the tabletop rules/fluff but fuck Matt Ward, right? Also, taking your idea kinda, it would be so very cool if they could have another role in tapping into the 'winds of magic for your armies sorceress to buff up her hardest hitting spells. DE army has sooo much potential to be a sick, yet balanced faction..
i know this video is old but plz make nippon next i know they wont make it to warhammer total war but i still want to see a vid since i only know about 2 units
What are they going to do when they add in the Darklands and Naggorath? I mean will they add the Hung and Kurgan chaos worshippers to challenge the chaos dwarfs and DE?
I'd also throw in Chaos Marauder Horsemen armed with Throwing Axes, Light Armour & Mark of Slannesh for the Best Light Cav As thanks to the Mark they didn't care about the main ways of dealing with Cav (Fear & Terror)
I... am unsure who made up the Witchelves... but... well lets just say if i came up with something like that i would have thought about something Different, and Blushed profusely. That said, now that they are here, they might as well be in the Game.
I"ve been a fan of warhammer (and only really got into the lotr version because I felt it was far more fun being able to move individual units instead of whole units) for at least a decade, but I have a question obviously in your opinion, why is my favorite faction not quite as powerful as their arch (lol) nemesis, the high elves?
I have to agree with a lot you said about the 8'th edition Dark Elf book. The Medusas are the ones that annoyed me the most, especially since they didn't make them related to the cult of slanesh which should be the only Dark Elves to even consider having something like that around imo. I think you went to easy on the Fleetmaster in 8'th edition. It's a Lords cost for a heroes statline.(can hardly imagine that total war would keep that mistake around). Personmally really liked the 7'th edition book an it's internal Balance, only real issue was the when 8'th ed hit and made the situational picks the none picks(Tullaris could work in 7'th with some babysitting, in 8'th it was points down the toilet) THe issue with the book however was it's balance with other armies, where it was in the top.
knowing total war games, they will make a small units of assasins and make them be able to hide in plain side wile not moving and leting them slowly move in forest and tall grass
The answer to question how they are going to represent elves fighting in more ranks than their spears would allow is simple: just let the Warscape engine lose again! =)
I dont really see the issue of the medusa making underwater things bleed to death. as the moment anything underwater bites something it will bleed. and sharks and etc. will be able to smell it. so making something bleed dont matter...as everything will bleed as they munch. it might even help it. as it might look at something and that will bleed to death. and then grab it and swim away from the blood. as every drop of blood has bleed out. or if you still dont like that. it can look at 2 different things before the medusa takes its real target so every monster will swim against those two things.
So many small errors, hatreds was reroll to hit the first round for instance but for the most part it is a decent run down. Medusa are not a deep sea monster, it was a coven of sorceress that used magic to make them more beautiful and insulted a dark elf god.
actually, we do have a statement of Joey CA that navy battles will be "map based" aka auto resolve. forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/156454-Navy-battles-or-Not/page6 Since I like naval battles I would still speculate that we get them in one of the other instalments. Either in 2. where i belive we will get: Bretonnia and Wood Elves and Beastmen, Skaven or Tomb Kings or Chaos Warriors Maybe we get them in 3: High and Dark Elves (those two are so "close" to each other it is hard to see to get one without the other), Lizardmen and whoever didn't make it in the 2nd instalment. I hope that at the end of the Trilogy they will be there.
you know what would be really cool of the creators of total war warhammer 2, if they made the medusa that you despise being able to use aquatic spells. maybe, maybe not. just a suggestion
Calling Matt Ward the fifth Chaos God is an insult to Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch. At least with the Four Kings, there is something redeeming about them. Something about them we can get behind. Matt Ward is SO much worse than those four combined, that he needs his own category. To the point where even the Empire and Chaos join forces to get rid of his abominations. Heck, any other faction willingly joins forces with Chaos to remove his taint from the world.
A hydra without regeneration just bothers me on a deep level.
Isn't it the creature that is basically defined by regeneration? Both mythical one and real life one?
It would break da game but I feel ya tho
1 like = 1 less kick to the balls
In total war warhammer 2 it has regeneration :)
i know I am kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online?
I love coming back to these videos. Anyone else rewatch in 2019.
Hell yea. But I'm in 2020.
@@ThuleHammer hell yeah.
Hell yeah!
Rewatching in 2020. Good stuff to listen to as I try to sleep.
@@Caterhamse7en yo I can't believe I'm not the only one who listens to it as he's going to bed. Lol
I'm surprised that our spiritual liege Matt Ward didn't have the dark elves paint themselves blue and ally with the necrons...
they did with end times...........
I always loved the aspect of the Dark Elf assassins popping up out a unit and killing an enemy hero. Love the witch elves too.
I don't think it's fair to call Matt Ward a Chaos God because Chaos Gods generally at the very least have some redeeming qualities.
Lincoln E hahaha! touche!
+Lincoln E at least ward left the black templars alone?
Jerec 12 The Black Templars are already fucking boring though, I don't think even Ward could fuck up "righteous fury and never-ending devotion to the Emporer". He ruined the Grey Knights which were actually pretty fucking awesome before he got his mitts in.

Jurassic Mark.
hmm... i think it could be interestinf to have "updated" versions of these Faction videos for the UPCOMING Factions, how they could be done with the mechanics of TW WH we know of right now, the map expansions planned etc.
Arch Warhammer Maybe you could make a separate video on the many fluff-destroying sins of the 5th Chaos God,as I found it to be highly amusing.
Rellana1 I am a sad novice in the warhammer world and have no idea as to who the 5th chaos god is?
Heino Obermeyer there is no 5th chaos god its his way of saying that the guy is an idiot
wromthrax12 Thank you! I presume that this Mat Ward person is a important person at GW?
Heino Obermeyer 1d4chan.org/wiki/Matthew_Ward the great beast himself
Arch Warhammer Thank you!! He is truly a terrible creature... What was GW thinking
If i were a dark elf sorceress, i'd study every kind of magic i could get my manicured hands on, because knowledge = power. What if i need to grow some herb for alchemy posthaste? Or divine the outcome of the next battle? Or am threatened with execution unless i save the life of some random very important lord?
then guard it well
Dark elves were much more interesting and characterful in times past. Also I really agree that the over the top names don’t help at all.
"You use him because he buffs your monster??"
Arch, I don't know about you, but... Any guy who wants to buff MY monster, needs written permission first!
He's European. It's normal to buff your buddies monster over there.
A Mat Ward hate video would be lovely
I concur
I do not
HERETIC!!! BLAMBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM!

Rellana1 total war: warhammer is going to be unmoddeble sadly
TerranGaming The internet will find a way.
luscious 2 really hope so!
TerranGaming
That's rather odd,as CA has always supported mods with very good reason,as they fix what CA misses, among adding to the game overall.
Rellana1 It's games workshops' fault, they don't want modding but CA does.
I think Death and Shadow lore can work with them too and well I think throwing fireballs at enemy ships is something these sick beings would do. And keep up the good work my fellow nerd.
Can Warhammer PLEASE get a quality control level consisting of “fire Matt Ward?”
Call it a 1+ Matt Ward save.
I do t know about you guys but I would genuinely enjoy a massive Matt Ward rant video.
1:02:12 remember mat ward had an entire planets worth of mythological monsters to chose from.
I would kind of like an TW empire style map at some point where you can have several different maps and just sail between them. it should work well with the several theatres of war in the warhammer world
It's so strange going back and watching old artch videos. Wish he would remake some of them.
When you find out Matt ward is chief advisor for total war warhammer ...
Connor Tyler for real?..... Sigmar help us
TerranGaming na i play a cruel prank XD
and so the sixth god of chaos reveals himself
Connor Tyler that was really evil of you, I actually shouted "wut" really loud xD
I'm pretty sure the Death Hag is female, definitely not a "he".
Did you just assume the Death Hags gender?
If there is one good aspect about Matt Ward...
Well at least he caused the last 10 minutes of this video to be absolute gold.
A deep sea creature using a gaze attack? Interesting concept, just how is its prey going to *see* its eyes exactly? The Photic zone only penetrates to 100 metres assuming good water clarity. Past 100 metres no light penetrates. It is *dark* down there, really, really dark. Gaze attacks in deep sea creatures...
alganhar1 Well you can still use this immemorial phrase of bad DMs in RPGs, and also bad fantasy writers worldwide.
It's magic, shut up.
I realize this is a bit late but Arch actually got the lore for the bloodwrack medusa wrong. They're actually dark elf sorceresses cursed by the elven goddess Atharti. not deep sea monsters.

Oh, I may have been wrong. I'd have to read the army book again.
Jeez i can't wait to play them in total war, curious to see the various armor (re)designs
All of these videos are awesome.
Because I'm not especially familiar with the tabletop, what happens when two opposing units with "Always Strikes First" attack each other?
Nicholas Wright both do damage at the same time
Mutually assured destruction at its finest, then. Thanks for the clarification.
Nicholas Wright The re-rolls to hit don't happen but they do go at the same time. That is why in elf books they include the hatred towards elves so the first round of combat has its re-rolls to hit. so a blood bath.

Wait so if the Medusa is a DEEP sea monster how they hell does it kill anything? It's pitch black I the deep sea and most creatures down there are blind so how exactly do they see her?
Mr Sniffes by the many powers of the 5th chaos god
Arch Warhammer Ah of course. I guess this is why you make the Lore videos and I don't.
i agree with corsairs, have to include them as battlefield unit
I wonder how many tongue rolls he did in this video.
+Local Fan I agree. I can see every town have an arena and as such the female gladiators would be common, But Witches would be more elite.
If the Medusas bleeding attack was a targeted attack, it might make more sense. With it more likely to succeed if the target is dumber/weak minded.
PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT MAT WARD!
Could you do a video of the world in W H? Show where everyone lives on a map and tell us history? I think it would be a great
video.
I would like to see a Matt Ward rant. It would be a nice way provide an overview of the Warhammer 40k and Fantasy lore too.
bcdcool94 I finally got the Matt Ward hate after I read the story where the Grey Knights grand master beat up Mortarion. It couldn't just be a greater daemon no it had to be one of the primarch demon princes.

Your vids are great THX
I don't care if they are a dlc army I will buy them I played Dark Elves on the table top I will play them in Total War damn it.
for the hydra is it not cut of one head two more take it's place
Why the fuck is this listed under anime on my front page?
well he does talk about half-naked women jumping around on the Battlefield with impractical weapons, dont tell me you cant at least see some common ground.
Damn this was a painful faction for you to work on. It honestly sounded like you were either gonna vomit or go on a gibbering rant about the 5th Chaos god that would make a jabberslythe blush!

and here we are 2 years later at 109 k subs .....
yeah time flies by
Warhammer II existing makes me so happy. The shit naval autoresolve makes me sad.
Wait since Naggaroth is the same size as America that makes Malekithboth George Washington &Ahbraham Lincoln, minus the reverse abolition act
When you said cold one knights, I briefly assumed you meant knights that just love to drink cold beer after a day of hard work.
1:00:03 "Why does it have legs?"
Matt Ward
For my future wife I'm gonna get one of them witch elves.
The use of slaves is something I find very useful, why did we stop using it again I wonder?

what about lokhir fellheart for a expedition hero/leader?
I'd also throw in Chaos Marauder Horsemen armed with Throwing Axes, Light Armour & Mark of Slannesh for the Best Light Cav
As thanks to the Mark they didn't care about the main ways of dealing with Cav (Fear & Terror)
Arch if I ever meet you in person , am buying you a pint !!! The Fifth God Must be banished !!!!!!
Worth the waiting.
Cant help but notice you kept referring to the death hag as a "he"
arch's pronounciation of pavise makes me want to surrender to the dark eldar
Even Hitler hates Matt Ward, it must be true youtube it!
Is there a link between Eldar and Elves
31:09 They are a unit cause that's the closest that Matt Ward has ever come to anything even remotely female.

Next LP ep when?
did the executioners unit really has a toughness of 5 as you said in the video?
MrSupergambo Absolutely not. No way. It's an unbroken rule in Warhammer - Elf = Toughness 3.
MrSupergambo All elves have toughness 5 I believe.
Illusive Man nice
MrSupergambo You are aware he is trolling you, right?

Tom R lots and lots of man power. Also plot armor, if you kill the empire off who will be the victims
Tom R If you're talking lore-wise, plot armor.
I see. What about in actual Warhammer?
they have some good units
mdb45424 plot armor?
Where are you getting Medusas are sea creatures?
'umf' there, 'umf' there 'umf' everywhere! 'umf' 'umf' 'umf'!
how the hell can factions like the druchii or the vampire counts be portrayed in total war without blood. would be strange to see.
Avaki Sswedtori Blood and Gore DLC.
actually, we do have a statement of Joey CA that navy battles will be "map based" aka auto resolve.
forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/156454-Navy-battles-or-Not/page6
Since I like naval battles I would still speculate that we get them in one of the other instalments.
Either in 2. where i belive we will get: Bretonnia and Wood Elves and Beastmen, Skaven or Tomb Kings or Chaos Warriors
Maybe we get them in 3: High and Dark Elves (those two are so "close" to each other it is hard to see to get one without the other), Lizardmen and whoever didn't make it in the 2nd instalment.
I hope that at the end of the Trilogy they will be there.
Matt Ward the true ruinous power
you know what would be really cool of the creators of total war warhammer 2, if they made the medusa that you despise being able to use aquatic spells. maybe, maybe not. just a suggestion
I wonder if Cathay and Nippon will be added on Total War: Warhammer 2.
Cryptosporidium 137 not in the second game for certain, wouldnt even be in the third one. But i really hope they add them somehow
cathay are in warhammer 3
Calling Matt Ward the fifth Chaos God is an insult to Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch. At least with the Four Kings, there is something redeeming about them. Something about them we can get behind.
Matt Ward is SO much worse than those four combined, that he needs his own category. To the point where even the Empire and Chaos join forces to get rid of his abominations. Heck, any other faction willingly joins forces with Chaos to remove his taint from the world.
