How sweet is your mom dear Nikki, and oh my joy when I heard her say that she likes watching my videos. Give her a big hug from me. Ivana ❤
Thank-you sweet Ivana 🤗 Hope your December is off to a lovely start 💕
The cable pullover of your mom is amazing 💜 the bird behind and the snow ❄️❄️❄️ what a privilege
Thank-you 🥰 And yes we certainly are lucky to enjoy such Canadian loveliness. Glad we can share a glimpse with others 🤗💕
That was so fun, I love it when your Mom visits as well! Happy Holidays to you all!!
Aww thank-you 🤗💕
That was just delightful Nikki!! I can’t believe you sit out there in this weather! Kudos to you both!
Thanks sweet Selma 🥰 Us "northerners" are tough when it comes to the cold 🤣
So nice to see your mom on the podcast and hear about her projects. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season with lots of time for knitting. Best wishes!
Thanks so much dear Margaret 🥰
An absolute delight to watch both of you!! You will have to tell who wins the Ginger Bread House contest!! Love all the projects!! Joyeux Noel to the whole family! 🥰🧶
Thanks sweet Sophie 🥰 I'm happy to report that I am now the Gingerbread House Decorating Champ for the 3rd year in a row 😂 Hope your December is off to a wonderful start 🤗💕
Thanks for mention my podcast and design! I look forward to seeing your version of the Vine Top. I love the snow/rain that started near the end of the episode, how it complimented your festive knits!
Thanks Athena 🥰 Looking forward to your next podcast 🤗
Bonjour Nikki! Thank you for all. Your Mom have a nice smile, elle est mignonne(cute)! Happy Holidays !
Merci Louise 🥰
You Mum’s jumper was amazing 🤩 and her socks look so cozy.
It’s always nice to join you. I felt cold watching from a very mild in comparison Wales !
Lovely stockings to treasure each year.
Thank-you Ann 🥰 -3 Celcius actually feels quite mild to us, especially in our woolens 😊
Big smiles from me watching this video. Love your podcast and your mom is so lovely. What a treat to see you together. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank-you so much for spending time with us Martha 🤗 Hope you're having a lovely December ❤️
So nice to see your mom joining you today 😊 She is so cute “ I want to be the forerunner”, I looked at my notes for my pairs where I added mohair (lol started in 2019) for the stitch count, looks like I did 56st with and 80/20 blend, I usually do 64st for a regular sock. The mohair socks are a definite favourite of all family members! Happy Holidays to you two as well 💓💓
thank you for the stitch count...I will try that for my next pair of mohair socks..I am in love with them
Thanks Tracey 🥰 I really need to jump on the mohair sock bandwagon! Thanks so much for sharing your stitch count 🤗💕
This was so lovely your mum is gorgeous I love seeing the birds on the feeder thsnkyou for another wonderful podcast x
Thank-you so much for joining us Judith. Glad the Chickadees brought you joy as well 🤗💕
What a nice surprise, to have an episode to watch with my morning coffee and secret knitting. My Jennifer Beale is also on hold for a bit 😊
Thanks for spending time with us Sandra 🥰 Jennifer's patterns certainly require concentration 😂
well done ladies you do entertain. don
Such a lovely episode 😍 I really adores your mom Nikki😊 I really like that she continued with the cables, it really got so much better🥰. I think I'll borrow that idea for my husband's sweater too 😊 I looking forward to see you on vlogmas ❤❤
Thank-you sweet Emilia 🥰 I see you are doing Vlogmas as well! Can't wait to watch! 🤗💕
This was such a bright spot in my day! Loved watching you and your mom Nikki! What a fun and inspiring episode. Why haven't I made a Brightfeather?? The Saven is so stunning. I am blown away at the way the cables come through in the Regal. Wow. Your Christmas stockings make me want to make all new ones. LOL. Happy Holidays to you all!!
Aww you are so sweet Leanne! Thanks for spending time with us 🥰 You should definitely make a Brightfeather! It would look lovely in so many beautiful colour combinations 🤗 It literally took me YEARS to settle on patterns for our Christmad stockings 😂 Our kids eill be out of the house before they're all done, I'm sure 🤣 Which stocking pattern(s) did you make? Hope you're having a lovely start to your December 🤗💕
You volun-told me. 💀 I'm so behind on everyone's podcasts but I'm so glad to finally have a little time to catch up with you and your mama! She's such a hoot!
Thanks so much for joining us Lucy ❤️
What with the snow and the cute chickadees, I'm not sure I noticed the knitting .... just kidding. You both have some lovely knits, as always. Thank you.
Thanks for spending time with us sweet Alex 🥰 And I completely get it -- there's no competing with adorable Chickadees 🤗
Hello to you and your Mom, and happy holidays to you both ❤
Thanks sweet Cary 💕
that was so much fun...love being your guest
Always love having you Mom ❤️
💜💜💜💜
That was fun. I just joined the Slack group but we'll see how often I remember to look! I want knitting friends lol.
Wonderful! Happy to have you! 🤗💕
What a lovely treat! I’m curious…do you feed your chickadees the striped sunflower seeds or the black ones? It was so nice to have your mom in the episode. Happy holidays and enjoy that Advent calendar!! 🎄❤️❄️
Thank-you sweet Canadace 🥰 I typically buy the black oil sunflower seeds as in my experience the critters tend to prefer them over the other, although I'm not sure why. Hope you're having s lovely start to your December 🤗💕
Hi Nikki, enjoyed seeing you with your mom together! You can sit just in woolen sweaters in under 3 degrees C outside ....? I could never do that :) the birds in the background are so beautiful. Next week we will have snow here in Northern Germany as well. Happy knitting and I`m looking forward to see your vlogmas !
Thank-you so much Katja 🥰 We are certainly used to much colder temperatures here in Canada so -3 Celcius actually felt quite mild. And wool is so amazing at helping regulate temperatures 🤗 Wishing you a lovely December 💕
PS...you managed to get your hands on Fundy Fog?!?!! I've been trying and trying. Well done you!! 👏 👏 👏
It's such a beautiful colour 🤗 I purchased it from Yarn Canada but I see they've recently converted their shop to an Ashford spinning and weaving supplier which is unfortunate as they used to be my go-to for Briggs & Little and Lopi yarns.
I love the Nutiden sweater! I might copy you too, with this sweater. I haven’t knitted colorwork with Nutiden before. I always use a knitting thimble and I think I can’t do that with Nutiden. So I need to make swatch maybe. 🤔. Loving all the finches in the background! 🥰 Great to see your mom too!
Saven!!! It’s on my list for my husband but I’m a little scared… it’s just soooo stunning!!
Thanks sweet Gwen 🥰 Hmmm...yes it might be tricky knitting unspun with a knitting thimble. I just love doing colourwork with Nutiden though and highly recommend giving it a go 🤗 Saven is a stunning pattern--your hisband will love it, I'm sure 😊
Hey Nikki! Nice to see your mum - Hi Laurie!! 👋 I enjoyed your podcast in the snow ❄We only had rain down here today, but the snow must make it feel nice and cosy up there! Your Christmas gift knitting is lovely - nice progress - and sorry to tell Laurie that I'm afraid she wasn't the trailblazer of mohair with sock yarn, lol. I have a pair of socks in the final stages, for my husband, and he prefers the thicker socks I made last year, so I'm working in fingering and mohair together, for nice cosy socks on 3.25mm needles... but it's definitely a wonderful idea, so Laurie is definitely on the right train anyway if not the trailblazer for it. 😉 Enjoy your pre-Christmas time together and best wishes to Laurie before she is off to Ecuador. Cheers, Judith 💜
Hello Judith..enjoy your mohair sock knitting...I am such a wannabe hahaha Feliz Navidad to you as well
Thanks so much for spending some time with us Judith and hope your December is off to a lovely start 🤗💕
Nice to see your Moma Bear again!! I ❤ Fundy Fog by Briggs & Little, I have some in my stash.......the sweater is gorgeous! mm is millimeter (metric for us Canucks and most of the world). Americans still use the Imperial measurements. 😊
Luv the Christmas stockings too!
Thanks Gail! And I agree, Fundy Fog is soooo beautiful, especially in person 😍
I love the chickadees behind you around 4:50 they're so sweet. I'd agree with your assessment about durability of malabrigo sock... I want it to be durable, but it isn't for me either.
Thanks for spending some time with us and the Chickadees Amanda 🤗 Hope you're having a lovely December ❤️
Happy Holidays ladies!! Mom might like my Warm Fuzzies socks (Flora alpaca and Hobbii alpaca blaze). Would you like me to send her a copy?
Happy Holidays Carol! Thank-you for the kind offer, I'm sure she'd love to try making them ❤️
I am on the home stretch with my Marie Wallin, bottom up. I just tried it on while watching you, and it is too big in the yoke..... my color work is larger gauge than the body. I went down to #2 needles, which is all I can think of to do :(
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this Genie. I know I struggled immensely when I knit my 1st colourwork sweater (Swallowtail) as my gauge differed so significantly between my colourwork and non-colourwork sections. I ended up having to reknit the the entire body so I absolutely feel your pain. Hope you are able to salvage your lovely sweater 💕
