So nice to see the colors from your Charlie. They were gorgeous and no brown at all ❤️ I am always afraid when there is chocolate involved. Like calendar inspired by cakes, ice cream....so amazing ideas for advent knitting ❤
Great ideas. Thanks for all the time you took to put this together. I love and hoard mini skeins and love finding new projects to use them, even if it’s not an advent calendar.
I will be making scrappy socks with my advent swap and I have Shannon’s advent and love the coastline shawl, I’ve learnt I need something easy . I’ve also started a candy mountain cowl which is really pretty .I’ve just made a scrapvent cowl ( free Helen Stewart pattern )with an advent I got 2 years ago from Ellie !
Thank you Helen for this video. It will be very useful. This year I have two scrappy calendars from friends. I am kind of interested in a crochet wrap.
I found a post online that was called “Comprehensive list of patterns to use with mini skeins, scraps and yarn calendars”. I especially liked the Intermission crochet shawl By Deanne Ramsay, The MegaMini Scarf The Litmus cowl by Amy Florence and the Rocky Mountain Rainbow by Jennifer Beever. As I have two advents this year I def want to make the Intermission shawl and then the other Advent came with a crochet and knit suggestion which I will make also. Thank you so much for providing all these patterns. I will save them for future minis.
I’ve been searching for just the right pattern for my Pancake and Lulu Advent kit. You’ve shown so many great ideas! I also like that you have samples of many of the designs.
Hi Helen. I’m thinking about using the Northwesterly, Southwesterly & a star memory blanket ( Ellie Jones have made up the Star memory blanket), it’s really nice looking. Thank you so much for the fantastic advent ideas. You’ve given me several ideas. And also thank you so much for all your work putting this together, I for one really appreciate it.
What a great video - lots of food for thought! I’m thinking of doing the Naughty or Nice Calendar wrap by Samantha Van Noy - a free Ravelry download. It is a “recipe” including 12 different lace patterns that can be mixed and matched as desired. Of course I really enjoy the Helen Stewart and would happily knit any of hers again. I keep being tempted by garments, but I’m not sure I’m up for the mental gymnastics that that requires for the yarn management and size issues. (That said I’m tempted by the Advent Wrap (cardi wrap) by Iris H.) Okay, back to getting my socks off the needles so I can be ready for advent knitting. Until next time. Salam wa sa’aadah
Im making the Daft Days cardigan. It calls for DK weight yarn but I live in the tropics so I’ve adjusted the pattern for my fingering weight advent - 24 20g minis from Coolagirl collective as the stripes and the MC is Fiber Arts Shed 4ply tweed. It’s working out really well so far and I love the colours.
Thank you so much for the inspiration! I do love your Dust of Snow - so pretty! I plan on doing the Sound Waves cowl this year and hopefully keeping up over Advent. I also hope to do the Advent Sweater 2021 by Heleen's Knithouse with my other yarny advent, however it will probably be well into 2024 before I get it done. Looking forward to vlogmas!
Thank you so much. I’m so inspired…and actually signed up for my first advent mini skein box as a result of watching your video. No idea what I’ll do with it…but it will be fun to think on it. My first thought is to consider the Sunshower Shawl by Ambah O’Brien that I saw on Ravery.
I don't know what to make now, so much choice! This is my first advent and I can't wait to get started. I was going to do the Sleigh All Day Cowl but I've changed my mind to the Lamina Wrap by Ambah O'Brien. I only have undyed yarn with gold or silver stelina or grey hand dyed, what would you recommend Helen with your advent? Just so can get prepared 😍 X
I'd go for undyed yarn, a bit of sparkle would be lovely, either the silver or gold would work, if you've got my sparkle base then that's silver sparkle already. I love mixing sparkle and non sparkle though. If you wanted to do grey then I'd probably recommend a light-mid grey.
I would like to make a blanket (the larger granny square) like the one you made with my Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory advent calendar from last year. How big are your granny squares? Do you have any tips or Pattern directions? I feel like I shouldn’t order another Advent calendar until I use my last one. ❤
I have your 10g advent calendar and am trying to decide what to make? I have decided to do knitvent Shawl with a 20g advent from Alex and Dan. I like the idea of a Litmus cowl and a blanket. Do you have a recommendation for a contrast colour to use for a stripe or to join squares? I have some navy would that work?
What a great collection of patterns for knitting and crocheting Advent yarns! Thank you 💖 Anne 🦘
You are so welcome!
Thank you for these ideas, I’ve never considered an advent as I didn’t know what I would make. Problem solved! 😘
Great ideas. So much choice Thanks
You are so welcome!

I'm not a lover of brown either so there was never going to be brown in my advent 😆
Admittedly, I am overwhelmed🙃, but the the Dust of Snow was my favourite. Thank you for providing so many options, Helen. ❤
Great ideas. Thanks for all the time you took to put this together. I love and hoard mini skeins and love finding new projects to use them, even if it’s not an advent calendar.
I'm a mini skein hoarder too 😆
Amazing designers and patterns. I love your sweater ❤❤
Thank you! I should have mentioned the pattern 🙈 it's the Aquamarline by Park Williams
Thank you it's beautiful, I'll look it up!
Most of those are in my Rav advent bundle already but added a few! Thank you! 💜
Glad there were a few new to you ones.
Thanks for the bundle on Ravelry! I made a Just Feel Festive shawl with your Chronicles of Narnia advent a few years ago - loved doing that one!
Oh that's sounds lovely! I really enjoyed that pattern last year.

I’ve also started a candy mountain cowl which is really pretty .I’ve just made a scrapvent cowl ( free Helen Stewart pattern )with an advent I got 2 years ago from Ellie !
They all sound like great ideas!
Hi all, I would like to add to that gorgeous collection: Stella Quilt Cushion and Sweet Shop Blanket, both by Laura Penrose.
Oh thr sweet shop blanket it gorgeous!
Thank you Helen for this video. It will be very useful. This year I have two scrappy calendars from friends. I am kind of interested in a crochet wrap.
I loved the just feel festive last year, it's a really quick and simple crochet, I'm actually tempted to make another one this year.
I found a post online that was called “Comprehensive list of patterns to use with mini skeins, scraps and yarn calendars”. I especially liked the Intermission crochet shawl

I meant to mention the litmus cowl! Although not specifically a advent pattern it's a great mini pattern!
I’ve been searching for just the right pattern for my Pancake and Lulu Advent kit. You’ve shown so many great ideas! I also like that you have samples of many of the designs.
I do love an advent, so I've got plenty of advent projects 😆
Thank you so much for all of the ideas and the ravelry bundle! The bundle makes it so easy!😊

Oh I've always love the look of the North and south-westerly blankets!

There's so many options aren't there!!

Ooh I've not heard of that pattern I'll have to look it up.

I've enjoyed the sound waves cowl even if I did deviate from the pattern.

Ooh that would be a great pattern with an advent

I feel like I shouldn’t order another Advent calendar until I use my last one. ❤
I'm pretty sure I did 5 round granny squares with a 3mm needle and I managed to get 4 squares out of each mini skein.
I have your 10g advent calendar and am trying to decide what to make?
I have decided to do knitvent Shawl with a 20g advent from Alex and Dan.
I like the idea of a Litmus cowl and a blanket.

I have some navy would that work?
Navy would work well will my advent this year if you wanted a darker contrast. Otherwise an undyed/white or a light grey would work nicely.
This was excellent now I just want the Charlie and the chocolate factory advent calendar😢
It was a really fun advent calendar to dye!
