    The last two minutes captured the essence of the great instructor/student relationship. Lewis you have made such a positive impact on your students. Thank you for giving all of us the opportunity to see into your world. All kidding aside, please consider having your students complete the AOPA instructor of the year survey. You deserve it. Lewis I absolutely love your instructing style, specially here in Australia a lot of our instructors are very old school and tough. The relationship you build with your students only adds to their passion and enjoyment in flying. You can see the confidence you give your students in their abilities and how you build them up. I wish I could find an instructor as amazing as you.

      Allan Cullinger thank you for the kind words mate. With some of the instructors that I went through during my training, I would feel so uncomfortable, and I strive to make the cockpit a place of comfort for my students. There are way too many pilots and instructors out there that suck the life out of what we love, and I refuse to do that. I want to be myself in all aspects of what I do, including flying. I’m glad you like my style mate, very much appreciated

    Great point about fixating on the instruments during a steep turn. During my check ride I did that very thing and when I rolled out my DPE asked me what I did wrong. I told him that I was looking at the instruments instead of outside. As soon as I looked outside, I nailed both of my turns!

    Currently training for my PPL and I’m terrified of stalls because of the dropping feeling and when you slightly look towards the ground. Any tips to get over it? It seems everyone on youtube blows them off as nothing yet it’s terrifying for me?
    FYI: I hate rollercoasters as well.. probably why I dislike stalls.

    • @randc47
      @randc47 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      DylanHK I’m at about 13-14 hours in my PPL. Stalls don’t bother me, but I’d suggest being on it before it becomes a roller coaster ride. The second you hit it...and I hate the delay of going in to it. “C’mon, stall damn it!” Those 172s are a bitch to stall sometimes. Hit it, power on and establish. Minimal drop, minimal roller coaster feeling.
      Did have a power on in to a powerful updraft right side that almost spun it. That was a bit terrifying. Haha.

    • @jramirez114469
      @jramirez114469 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the more you practice the faster you recover the less roller coaster feeling you get. Remember you practice to recover Not to stall. 7 hrs in i hated roller coasters went to a park road every single coaster they had flying helped me through it also went skydiving flying helped me gain that confidence. you can do it also remember to have fun and learn from your mistakes

      They freaked me out as well, initially. One suggestion is to externally verbalize everything and be like routine clockwork on the procedural flow for entering and exiting the stall. When you externally verbalize, you're commanding more of the 12% of the conscious mind, which can override the associative fear within the subconscious mind. The anticipatory anxiety of the dropping feeling is understandable also. We are all born with two fears... fear of loud noises and fear of falling. You'll get it.
      Continued success!

    Shoulder harnesses were installed in aircraft for a reason even if they feel uncomfortable. Sad to see both the instructor and his student so lax about wearing them properly during all phases of the flight. Clear air turbulence doesn't warn the pilot before it happens and neither do accidents. Notice the student pilot wasn't wearing the shoulder harness upon landing the aircraft.

      Not required for all phases. Do some research.

      @@jonnyshatter69 No one said they were required in all phases of flight, are you really that much of a clown? So what happens when you hit clear air turbulence and the aircraft becomes inverted, do you think you'll be in your seat? some people are just plain stupid. You may want to follow your own suggestion. Your the pilot not a passenger.
