You can see he has to look directly down at his hands at times when playing this Steinway and Sons Grand. Oh, and there's a suspended mic above him. It's a live cut, but then edited in post imo. Edit: He has a kinda mostly self-taught looking hand position on the piano... And that's a whole lot of adjectives.
I love this song! I heard this before any of their heavy songs, then when Vessel transition from a sung “some…” to a growled “where” it changed everything. The emotional heaviness was crushing

A transcript from an interlude from one of their performances that talks about some of the "why" of the masks: Mask: Why am I here? What is my purpose in all of this? Vessel: Your purpose is twofold. You protect me, from them, and you also protect them from me. Mask: How is it that I serve to protect anyone from anything, that makes no sense. Vessel: In order for all of this to work there has to be a certain boundary in place. They need to be able to project themselves onto this, without anyone else's identity getting in the way. In turn, I need to be able to show my true self to them in a way that does not compromise their ability to connect. Mask: So that's what I am? A boundary? Vessel: Yes. Mask: I don't believe you. I believe there is more to it than that. I believe you are afraid of something. Vessel: We are all afraid of something, are we not? Mask: What is it you are so afraid they will see? Vessel: That I am exactly like everyone else.
I was in that winter storm too. My car was completely buried. I couldn't see it at all. My poor dog jumped into the snow off the steps and disappeared. LOL. Trying to find her a potty place was challenging. I'd shovel down to the ground and make one and it would be gone 4 hours later. LOL.

They are anonymous mostly out of courtesy. Their friends and fans honor their wishes to stay anonymous. One of the possible reasons for anonymity is that many of their songs sound like seeping from very personal life of Vessel, and mask helps him to remain so open and vulnerable in front of thousands of people. But you cannot really do intercontinental tours without someone seeing who you are, and Vessel even sometimes in concert takes the mask off when he's back to the audience and playing piano, so the staff certainly can see his face. Also, it would be really hard to acquire the level of singing, musicianship and production skills Vessel has without anyone in the industry knowing, or recognizing little but recognizable things they have heard you do in other contexts. Vessel composes, plays and produces all the songs; the only exception is percussions, that are done by Vessel II, so it is obvious he has deep knowledge in various fields of music, and that kind of expertise usually means you have worked with other people at some point.
