  • Plaster boarding or drywalling a ceiling on your own isn't easy. I couldn't have done it without a plaster board lifter/hoist.
    In this video I show you how I plaster boarded a big ceiling on my own.

    Good one mate. Those sheetlifters are a backsaver. If I had to do my ceilings again I'd do the same, buy & then sell. One of those things you don't realise how essential they are till you use one. Great series, getting me onto our place with that greatest of motivators - shame! Lockdown projects everywhere! :-) PP

    These lifters have no fail safe, and there cheaply made. Had one new 3 board in and the cable snapped at the end. Came down on my head and traped my hand. Deep cut on my head. Spend the money on a refina version which is twin cable and fail safe.

      That's awful. Thankfully I didn't have any issues with my one and I've sold it on now because I've finished my ceilings.

    Great idea with regards buying and then selling the prop machine to make life easier. Been thinking about re-plaster boarding our living room/kitchen (and adding in some proper insulation) but wasn't sure how I would get the sheets up... this could well be the answer.
    Our rooms are in the eaves of the building [up-side-down house as bedrooms are at ground level] and I wonder if the tilting ability of the prop machine would be able to move to the same angle as the ceiling?? Must incline about 35 degrees or so...
    Ox - I have heard their stuff is pretty decent, and a British Brand also. Hopefully their kit is British made too.

      I think the hoist would do the job for you at 35 degrees.
      Ox is actually an Australia 🇦🇺 brand but most of there stuff is great.

    Thanks for the video. Can't seem to find the countersunk screw bits your using in your link. Can you reshare. Thanks.
    It would be good if you could create an amazon list for tools needed for plasterboarding. That way I can get all my stuff using your links 👍

      There you go, links to screwdriver bits, drywall saw, knife,hoist, square and 1800mm level. I think that's everything I use when plaster boarding.
      Thanks for watching and thanks for using my links, very much appreciated 👍🏼

    Would of put lats on top of that insulation fella then your getting a proper fixing, if your string line is out on even one joist and your at 450mm centres that’s a 900mm span your gonna have that’s not being held at all

    • @dimebucker2
      @dimebucker2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      how do you fix insulated plasterboard then?

  • @mrboyban
    @mrboyban ปีที่แล้ว

    When carrying a lot of drywall like that by yourself make sure on the day you're doing it, you have a light breakfast otherwise it will all be stamped down onto your pants.
