I completely gave up on Destiny 2 after launch. I barely touched Curse, and Warmind I finished that joke of a story and then uninstalled. I haven't looked at D2 content in weeks. Then I'm causally browsing TH-cam and run into this. I reinstalled and grinded for an unhealthy amount of hours without stopping until I felt sufficiently powered up to ram all 3 of my Guardians boots up Uldren's ass.

I did a side by side comparison of the gunshot effect of when Cayde dies and when Uldren dies. Uldren wasn't killed by the Ace of Spades. Petra Venj killed him. Edit: I redid the comparison and have retracted my previous statement.

Tom it doesn’t work like that, the number in their name shows how may times they rebooted, by that it is just forgetting some memories like humans some memories fade out over time, but for exos, which are robots, don’t, and no forgetting would overload the memory brain, so they just reboot and forget some (not all) memories that took place a long time ago, he remembers ace because he must have found a journey that he had written before he became a guardian, besides, making ace up would just screw up Cayde’s character development. Whoever made that theory does not know how exos work.
@@501sttrooperbmc2 I reckon the memory overload and the Dissociative Exomind Rejection are just cover-up stories to hide that the Crypt intentionally reboot the Exos once they start delving into things they shouldn't, or after they Crypt send them on specific assignments that they would like kept hidden. Banshee repeatedly recites to himself "never forget Cayde," but eventually does by the time he repairs the Ace of Spades for you. Cayde said that he stopped counting after six intentionally, he could've got reset many more times since but decided to stick to six.
In another journal he says that Ace and his queen are the only things holding him from going down a darker path. So, its entirely possible that after he found out what sort of immoral assignments the Crypt forces the Exos to undertake that necessitate reboots, he decided to manifest a cornerstone for himself to keep him in the light. And if he forgets his cornerstone, forgets his promises, and becomes Cayde-7, then he'll know that someone's messed up the game and that they "weren't playing nice."

To us cayde is our friend, but to the city, is just another guardian, and it'll be irresponsible to wage a war just for one guardian and leave the city undefended. Trust me, it pains Zavala more than it pains us, after all they're r a fireteam, they're the vanguard, but due to his responsibility, he can't avenge cayde, that's why when we go on to do it ourselves, he didn't stop us.

Even years later, the Forsaken trailer STILL gives me chills. With a perfect rendition of "Go to the Light" from Murder By Death specifically made for this trailer, it still hits as hard as the day it debuted.
When destiny 2 first came out, someone made a meme that said, “If Cayde-6 dies, we riot.” I have never agreed with anything more.

Three years ago... I was going through some rough times. Yet this trailer still managed to bring some inspiration, imagination and light into my life. Reflecting on it now it makes me happy, when usually thinking back on those times should make me sad. Thanks Bungie.
Bungie knows how to make truly remarkable stories. forsaken being one of them. imo forsaken is one of the best campaigns in destiny 2, it had a dark, gritty feel.
I was going through some dark times back then too. This expansion and the friends I made playing it were what gave me strength to keep moving forward

When Forsaken released, I was going through the roughest and darkest point in my life. Losing Cayde hurt more than I can put into words. The Forsaken campaign gave me purpose, and reminded me that I'm still needed in life. Thank you Bungie, for saving me. And Cayde, I promise I will live beyond your expectations. I feel like if Bungie left us with Forsaken, but the story ended with this scene, it would've had such a heavy impact, like, an arch just ended, we know what'll happen, but at the same time, we don't know how it will happen, y'know? this is still my favorite cinematic from Destiny, not because Cayde died, but because of how it makes you feel from start to finish, you start by seeing the best boi broken and on his knees, then we pan around the Barrons to Uldren holding the Ace, then it pans away to the right with a gunshot as we see the rest of the Barrons, and Cayde on the ground. the style of the scene, the music and even the camera work is more than I think most of us were expecting, and it was executed damn near flawlessly
