For those who don't understand, Cayde wasn't always an exo. Many years ago he was a human and had a family. Those memories of his previous life are lost to him, however he remembers his Wife as the queen of hearts and his son as the ace of spades

I wish there were dynamic movements like this, or the ability to just place a tripmine insdead of throw it, but it's hard to do in an FPS. I think a cool hunter ability (maybe an exotic or something, I don't know) would be to kick of a wall in mid air to give yourself a tiny boost. Just those little extra parkour movements to make hunters feel more agile.

What makes this so sad is that Caydes most loveable traits are what lead to his death. His recklessness leds him to get trapped down in the hole without backup. His carelessness leads him to getting hurt so badly. His lack of paying attention leads him to loosing his ghost.

I think cayde should of used his golden gun on the barons before getting his ghost to heal him

Something I always loved about this short was the attention to detail. Because all of the moves Cayde does as he fights are actual moves a Gunslinger would do. The mines, throwing knifes, ect. And specially the attention to sounds, when Cayde reloads Ace of Spades you can hear that Memento Mori special sound effect and when he activates Golden Gun the sound is the same as in the gameplay. Then his super doesn't work and he switches. Such a great piece of animation.

What’s sad is that Ace... his “son”, doesn’t actually exist. In Cayde’s journals in the lore, as Cayde-5, (before he was rebooted for a 6th time) he reveals that he made up Ace and “the girl he used to know” as motivation for Cayde-6 to stay good and have something to fight for. So when he says he’s coming home, he doesn’t know that Ace won’t be there, because he and his mother never existed in the first place. Makes it even sadder.

Zanyy It could be, possibly. Cayde-6 himself said he does not believe they are real, but he cares about them even so to have something to fight for. (They may actually be real and he just convinced himself that they are made up because he doesn’t remember.) But no one really knows.

As many times as it's been nerfed, Blade barrage's debut being from Cayde-6's last stand makes it the most powerful super in the game, it deals emotional damage

@@A.Z.296 Assuming this isn't just some kind of joke cause of what the OP said, Celestial is better than BB for boss damage. BB might technically have it beat out by a very small bit, but it's very easy for some of the blades to miss the boss no matter what you do. As long as you can aim, celestial basically can't miss and the guaranteed damage is way better than the much riskier blade barrage. Also, best super for ad clear (for hunters) is either tether, arc staff w/raiden flux or silkstrike, not BB

I'm still pretty pissed that they offed the only character in the series that had any degree of personality.
Edit: Alright, you chucklenuts, I get that you folks like some of the wooden planks in the series, some of which got MILD character development nearly 3 years after their introduction, but my goddamn point stands. Most of the VA work and writing in this scam of a series was phoned-in garbage that existed to collect checks. I have my issues with Fillion, but at least the man puts in SOME effort for even weak writing.
Drifter (his alliegence quest) would like a word with you.
That’s kind of why though. He was the only character they could kill, because no one else in the series has gained any popularity. Story wise, Cayde was the only one they ever really developed, and as such, became the only one anyone really cared about. I don’t think people would have really cared as much if it was Zavala, even though he is arguably a more important target tactically speaking.

Ikora is really well developed. Just because Cayde threw in jokes every second doesnt mean he's the only fleshed out character in destiny
Out of the 3 kayde was the only one to make sense to kill. Zevala was the leader, so you can’t kill him, and ikora was the more serious powerhouse, and kayde was a great friend who cracked jokes

I’ve always found it funny,how npc guardians can just use two different supers ln seconds but when your playing the game,it’s takes awhile unless you’re using mods and exotic to speed up the charge of your supers.

This was the best send off for Cayde in this opinion. The entire mission leading up to his death is designed to make him the most likable character in the room and they *nailed* that to a T. It really feels like they cranked his personality up to 11 to make you really feel it when he’s gone.
I hadn't played Destiny when I first played Forsaken and even I took it personally when he died, it wasn't a mission, it was personal and now after playing D1, I wish Forsaken was still playable, because I'd kill them harder

“I’m coming home, Ace” is still the most impactful line I have had from almost any video game. The final stand leading unto that very moment, where he realizes that these are his final moments and the faint memory of his son he lost lifetimes ago floods over him, only to raise his gun, The Ace, one final time unto his foes. This scene is truly what sealed the deal for me and Destiny 2 after it’s first year, and will forever be my favorite cutscene to this day.
And it was the moment where I lost any desire to continue playing, after playing D1 from launch, all through D2, 2-3 hours almost every day and being a sherpa to a thousand raid groups.

If I recall, the Scorn Baron who destroys Caydes ghost was named the Rifleman and is notorious for killing Awoken Reef guards and guardians, which is why he knew to target his ghost

This really does show that guardians were never unkillable space wizards, but undying rats. Every redbar is stronger than you, every scorn can shatter your body, and any gunshot could be fatal. Healing with the light is dangerous, ghosts are vulnerable, and even the strongest guardian can scarecly win a fair fight with most minions of the darkness. Only our unending tenacity, camaraderie, and literally undying will to fight is what serparates us from our enemies
