I think that "I've changed my song to match each story, I've changes sides" and "Redeem myself for everyone I've buried with these hands" fit the theme of The Crow (a.k.a guardian uldren) perfectly.
@@christiandaniels540 Yeah Yeah, and people are simple 1 or 0 machines that do not have complex emotions and simply saying "He's Crow not Uldren" will surely work on everybody.
Listening to the lyrics, it makes a rather meta commentary on Cayde's whole life, both Pre and post collapse. He was a mercenary that was transformed into a warspawn machine that did nothing but kill. Even when he came back as a Guardian, he was a killer. A defender of the people, yeah, but still a killer. And the reference to the 'spark'? Well, that's quite probably his journey, his wife and son. And 'if there's nothing on the other side?' - reference to them possibly being made up to keep himself sane and make himself worth a damn. 'I've changed my song to match each story' - the same way Cayde's own legends and stories have a tendency to alter themselves based on the audience. Usually to get a laugh. Something even confirmed by Shiro's ghost. Its.... yeah, this song is rather perfect for Forsaken. For Cayde specifically.
Until today, because this song ultimately represents Uldren and the current landscape of Destiny. You should watch Darkside Royalty’s video on it. It clearly explains a lot of things reminiscent to the lyrics of the song. And I’d gotta say, no matter how many shit we throw at Bungie, they made a hell of a game and no doubt will have faith for the upcoming expansions to come.
As much as I’ve had a good run with destiny I’ve lost my faith to go back and just properly play the game since beyond light didn’t interest me at all also I had the feeling that bungie was gonna milk destiny 2 ever since the 10 year plan
God. It just seems like Activision was the only thing keeping Destiny 2 together. Bungie is literally deciding to vault Forsaken now. It's just a shame that this game that I had such a great love for, seems to be going down this way. (Not like it's ending, just the Destiny 2 that I loved, is gone... and so is Cayde.)
@@Two-BallTyrone To me, D2 died with Cayde. I stuck around while it danced on life-support, but nah. It doesn't help that I find the current storyline insulting. You'd think I'd be more terrified that we've got Savathun in the next room like a chandelier. But that's a big fat nope. She's taken a backseat while Queen Mary sue Sov jerks off her own ego. Completely fundamentally ignoring for the moment that Forsaken was the catalyst for _all_ of Destiny's current stories. And removing that Act 1 through 3 of that story will leave new players _completely_ in the dark about who Cayde is, who Uldren/Crow is, why he's so hated and why the Dreaming City's on a loop. Imagine if you're a new player, you're watching D2's original trailer with Cayde and think 'this dude's hilarious!' and then you play the Post-Forsaken Vaulting game, and you wonder 'where the hell is that funny dude from the trailer?' - only to be told he's dead and removed from the game. What kind of bollocks is that? Then you wonder who the hell this Crow poof is (No, I don't give a DAMN about Bungie's 'story' - my Guardian is no friend of his. PERIOD.) and why he's supposedly your BFF? Its asinine. Prior to the vaulting of Forsaken, the last thing I want to get is Cayde's Sparrow. After that, I'm done and uninstalling.

that good ol Forsaken E3 trailer introduced me to this song, easily my favorite trailer for Destiny ever, and i came back to the trailer recently after finishing Final Shape, and holy shit im obsessed with this band now. they're so underrated its disgusting how underrated and underappreciated there music is.
This song makes me want to cry. I haven’t been well mentally in awhile and I don’t know how long I can keep going. I continue to gain and lose people I love and I have a hard time communicating with them because we can’t speak one on one. I just hate everything
I think Zavala's next. The Witness is probably taking a close look at him, thinking "If I rip their heart out, their "Vanguard" will lose all hope... Let's see what happens when I take it all away from them..."
Now that Witch Queen is out Forsaken, and Cayde, are truly and utterly gone. It's been an honor to fight by his side in his final mission many times over.
This song made the Forsaken E3 trailer. It’s perfect. The element of sadness and mystery, just amazing. Here after forsaken has been vaulted, I realise how beautiful the expansion was. The tangled shore, the campaign, this really saved Destiny. Although we lost perhaps our closest friend, our mentor, our hero.. The true space cowboy, Cayde-6, will be stuck with us till the day we die. One last toast.. for Cayde!♠️
Forsaken's trailer let me discover one of my favourite bands of all time, thanks for letting bungie use your song in that trailer, otherwise I would never have found this band and this genre of music
I went back to my music playlist and I saw this. Rip Cayde. I always kept my Ace of Spades and Memory of Cayde Titan Mark in my inventory as an honor. You will be missed
(Part 1/2) For all of you Destiny lore nerds, and those who keep up with the story. Here is a neat little nugget of thought for you, a connection that i think this song would foreshadow, that in retrospect we can see now. this song isnt just for Cayde, a somber song for his death, its also for Uldren. A somber song for his eventual rebirth and the torture that it would become. Here is my interpretation of this song and how it relates to the past and current events of the Destiny series. this is just a fun little thought experiment, so i want to see hoe many of you can agree with me or see my point of view in why this song was chosen for the trailer of Forsaken, and why it represents a whole lot more than we initially thought; There is connection Between both Cayde's and Uldren's story line with this song. From Caydes perspective, this is a song about his death, the lyrics are whats running through his mind, His thoughts on whats gonna happen after he dies, cause he knows he is about to die. A lonesome star in a bitter sky I hear the hungry ghosts calling out in the night Just a couple victims of this brutal reprise Am I strong enough to let things just die? This opener is the moment that we see in the trailer, he is the lonesome star and the bitter sky is all of the galaxy. The hungry ghosts are Uldren and the prisoners, all of which are victims of his life, his 'brutal reprise', and he has to ask himself, is he strong enough to just let the past go and ask himself if he has any regrets I fight and I fight Just to keep the spark alive But if there's nothing on the other side Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light? This is a retrospect on his life, him thinking of what hes done. He has fought so much to keep the spark of hope that is the last city standing, but if there really isnt an end to it, if there isnt any way for him to keep going, why cant he just let himself die here? To finally take his break, and be done. A shadowy hand turns the page A dark theatre, move across the stage Teeth like a cone, scrape against the sky Feelin' alone in room full of life Stealing a few extra moments and fighting against time This verse is also about the past, describing his life after he became the Hunter vanguard. The Shadowy hand is fate as the previous Hunter vanguard dies, and Cayde becomes the new one, the dark theatre is the last city, and how its going on and it keeps going no matter what happens with the Guardians. The teeth are the ships, going in and out day after day scraping through the clouds in the sky, and the next line shows something we dont see from Cayde a lot, he is truly lonely in the last city. He only has 2 people he can really call friends and even then he doesnt know if they feel the same, and so he has spent his life just trying to live, to survive. to steal as much time from fate as he can before his inevitable death, and see what he can make of the world while he is still alive. Pushed on and pushed aside I've changed my song to match each story, I've changes sides Can I watch 'em as they fall when they finally try to stand Redeem myself for everyone I've buried with these hands? This is the last bit of the retrospective, as he thinks on how the Vanguard pushed him on, and how Fate has inevitably pushed him aside, How he has changed all the tales he tells of his past constantly trying to make them either as far from reality as possible so people can life, or trying to hide the dark truth that lies within them, something he doesnt like to admit. He changed sides at some point through being the vanguard, probably after the initial story of D2. He was always joking and would sometimes take his job seriously, but after the war, after the travelers light was lost and regained, he realized just how important his role is as Hunter Vangaurd, and now he watches the prospective enemies that tried to rise after the War, in the time of weakness for the guardians, and how he will do everything he can to stop it, now ASKING Zavala and Ikora if its ok for him to do this, if its ok for him to help and if he can redeem himself for his faults that caused the death of so many guardians when the Travelers light was lost, as he thinks that its His fault, that he messed up somewhere. I fight and I fight Just to keep the spark alive But if there's nothing on the other side Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light? And this line ends the flashback, its him in the moment again, but this time he has come to a realization. Uldren is an Awoken, and us, one of the only people he might really consider to be a friend, one of the best hunters he could always rely on, he KNOWS for a FACT that we WILL kill Uldren in the name of revenge, and to keep the peace of the last city stable. So now he fights to stay alive so that even if he dies, he can give one last message to the world, to keep his memory alive. But, Cayde was a betting man. He made 2 bets that fateful day. The first, that we would Kill Uldren. The Second? That Uldren would come back as a Hunter afterwords, that he would become a light bearer. And he bet that day, that Uldren would be the next Hunter vanguard thanks to the Vanguard Dare. That he would take his mantle, and redeem himself for all the things he has done. He bet on fate itself, and decided that he was fine with dying here, he was fine with returning to the light. because he knew the Last City was in good hands. If there is really no way for him to live in this moment, then why CANT he leave well enough alone, and go to the light? Hes earned his rest, and hell take it. As He defiantly looks at Uldren and makes him pull the trigger at the exact moment Cayde wanted him to. To ensure Uldren would have the death of Cayde on his mind, and to place his bet on Uldren reviving as a Hunter after we killed him. This isnt all, ill give a part two in a reply to this comment, so check it out for how Uldren is connected.
(Part 2/2) But, thats not all. Like i said, Uldren, now known as The Crow, also has a connection to this song and his story throughout and AFTER Forsaken. While Caydes is about his past, and the moment he dies, Uldrens speaks to his future compared to when the song is played, with only one of them really talking about the time of the song playing, or his past really, and the rest covering the Events of Forsaken and after. A lonesome star in a bitter sky I hear the hungry ghosts calling out in the night Just a couple victims of this brutal reprise Am I strong enough to let things just die? This is about how he feels after his sisters death how lonesome he feels in the bitter sky of space, the hungry ghosts are different people that convinced him to do what he did to get him thrown into the prison of elders. The victims are the ones that died in the prison break, and he is asking himself if he is strong enough to get over his sisters death. I fight and I fight Just to keep the spark alive But if there's nothing on the other side Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light? This line encompases all of Forsaken and what happens in that expansion, with the first two lines explaining what he is doing, fighting to honor his sister, to keep that spark of her alive in his heart, Which Riven uses against him. And then realizes after Rivens death exactly whats going on, and as the Guardian stares at him, he asks himself why couldnt he have just left well enough alone and gone to the light. Compared to Caydes defiant asking of the same question, as compared to his confidence in knowing he has nothing left to do in the world, Uldren is solemn and regretful of his actions, he doesnt feel that his death is truly the end, like he has to atone for something. And so fate brings light on the results of Caydes bet in the moment of his death, and whether or not Cayde won that bet in the next verse. A shadowy hand turns the page A dark theatre, move across the stage Teeth like a cone, scrape against the sky Feelin' alone in room full of life Stealing a few extra moments and fighting against time this line covers 2 points of Forsaken, With the Shadowy hand being the spider, turning the page from Uldren to The Crow. the Dark theatre is Crow, as he moves across the stage from being in the tangled shore to the Last City. And here is where we see a lot of similarity between the characters of Uldren and Cayde. Both of them looking up at the jump ships going in and out of the city, looking around them and realizing just how lonely they feel, surrounded by people who should be their comrades and friends, they just feel utterly lonely, and While cayde is fighting against time to change the world around him and become known, Crow wants to steal as much time from fate to STAY as Crow. He and Osiris both know that its only a matter of time before his old identity comes out, but crow doesnt want to bear the weight of his old self, to deal with the repurcussions of his past. he wants to be himself. His own person. Pushed on and pushed aside I've changed my song to match each story, I've changes sides Can I watch 'em as they fall when they finally try to stand Redeem myself for everyone I've buried with these hands? This is about how the last city treats him, pushing him around and giving him looks. How he has changed his view of his past to match the different stories hes heard, and is trying to tell himseld and those who know his identity that he has changed sides, that he wants to help them now. Asking if its ok to help them in keeping the last city safe. Again, he regrets his actions that his past self has made and wants to change for the better, doing what he can to defeat those who might rise to power, to redeem himself for the death of Cayde and any others that might have died due to his actions, and this time instead of him falsely not trusting himself while everyone else trusts him like with Cayde, almost nobody in the Last City would trust him, and so he simply has to trust himself. I fight and I fight Just to keep the spark alive But if there's nothing on the other side Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light? And this last one is a gathering of confidence. Earlier, the spark was the memory of his sister, but now that spark is of the Last City, which he now fights so hard to keep alive. And If there is nothing on that other side? if there isnt a reward? then so what, Why cant i leave well enough alone, and ignore all that, and defend this city to my last breath going to the light that is redemption. With the lines "Just let it die" afterwords representing him going from hoping and mumbling to others, to then proudly telling people that Crow is his own person, and that he is The Crow. Uldren Sov is dead, and that is the truth. If you cant let that die, and let Uldren go to his own light, then thats your problem. But do NOT Mistake Crow for Uldren, cause they are not the same person. Take from this what you will, but i hope you enjoy the theory on why this song was chosen

@@Dev-zn3jo you like your own comment cringe
@@unknownsniper3734 Ditto

For all of you Destiny lore nerds, and those who keep up with the story. Here is a neat little nugget of thought for you, a connection that i think this song would foreshadow, that in retrospect we can see now. this song isnt just for Cayde, a somber song for his death, its also for Uldren. A somber song for his eventual rebirth and the torture that it would become. Here is my interpretation of this song and how it relates to the past and current events of the Destiny series. this is just a fun little thought experiment, so i want to see hoe many of you can agree with me or see my point of view in why this song was chosen for the trailer of Forsaken, and why it represents a whole lot more than we initially thought;
There is connection Between both Cayde's and Uldren's story line with this song. From Caydes perspective, this is a song about his death, the lyrics are whats running through his mind, His thoughts on whats gonna happen after he dies, cause he knows he is about to die.
A lonesome star in a bitter sky
I hear the hungry ghosts calling out in the night
Just a couple victims of this brutal reprise
Am I strong enough to let things just die?
This opener is the moment that we see in the trailer, he is the lonesome star and the bitter sky is all of the galaxy. The hungry ghosts are Uldren and the prisoners, all of which are victims of his life, his 'brutal reprise', and he has to ask himself, is he strong enough to just let the past go and ask himself if he has any regrets
I fight and I fight
Just to keep the spark alive
But if there's nothing on the other side
Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light?
This is a retrospect on his life, him thinking of what hes done. He has fought so much to keep the spark of hope that is the last city standing, but if there really isnt an end to it, if there isnt any way for him to keep going, why cant he just let himself die here? To finally take his break, and be done.
A shadowy hand turns the page
A dark theatre, move across the stage
Teeth like a cone, scrape against the sky
Feelin' alone in room full of life
Stealing a few extra moments and fighting against time
This verse is also about the past, describing his life after he became the Hunter vanguard.
Pushed on and pushed aside
I've changed my song to match each story, I've changes sides
Can I watch 'em as they fall when they finally try to stand
Redeem myself for everyone I've buried with these hands?
I fight and I fight
Just to keep the spark alive
But if there's nothing on the other side
Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light?
(Part 2/2)
But, thats not all.
A lonesome star in a bitter sky
I hear the hungry ghosts calling out in the night
Just a couple victims of this brutal reprise
Am I strong enough to let things just die?
This is about how he feels after his sisters death how lonesome he feels in the bitter sky of space, the hungry ghosts are different people that convinced him to do what he did to get him thrown into the prison of elders. The victims are the ones that died in the prison break, and he is asking himself if he is strong enough to get over his sisters death.
I fight and I fight
Just to keep the spark alive
But if there's nothing on the other side
Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light?
A shadowy hand turns the page
A dark theatre, move across the stage
Teeth like a cone, scrape against the sky
Feelin' alone in room full of life
Stealing a few extra moments and fighting against time
this line covers 2 points of Forsaken, With the Shadowy hand being the spider, turning the page from Uldren to The Crow. the Dark theatre is Crow, as he moves across the stage from being in the tangled shore to the Last City.
Pushed on and pushed aside
I've changed my song to match each story, I've changes sides
Can I watch 'em as they fall when they finally try to stand
Redeem myself for everyone I've buried with these hands?
I fight and I fight
Just to keep the spark alive
But if there's nothing on the other side
Why can't I leave well enough alone and go to the light?
Thank you for this
