Bike was hot, but not overheating, would cause it to stall. My wife kept telling me to take the berm, but I know where there is cones there is cops most of the time. Got tired of the bike and my wife... took the berm. Went 15-20mph, got my temp down a little when a trucker hooked his horn to let me know there was a statey about 4 semis up. On the way home I stopped my bike let 3 over when everyone else wasn't.
Been a biker for a long time. I've had trucks have my back many times. I'll never forget them letting me ride behind them in the deep wooded parts of this country. Everytime they would see a deer by or on the road they would turn on their hazards for me to be ready. Much respect for the big rig drivers out there.
Oh wow. My heart smiled, reading that. So many people are such asshole drivers in general, but especially to truckers. I always make a point of letting them change lanes, merge, whatever. Mad respect for truckers...they help keep the store shelves stocked with the things we buy.❤
Blake Anderson same here. Not the hazards for deer. But I’ve rode many miles behind rigs and in the convoy while they gave signals both to me and each other. And to the comment how did you know. Because a driver can tell
I’m a long distance truck driver & we love it when you give us a break! We especially love motorcycles so we always look out for road conditions to warn motorcyclist about or to let then know when it’s safe to pass! Truckers thank you with either blinking the trailer lights or flashing the 4-ways multiple time’s to let you know we appreciate the help!
Not a trucker myself, but spent a lot of my childhood in one (a truck, not a trucker..). You guys are one of the few professionals on the road, which means you also know how to communicate in traffic - and I don't mean the middle finger or honking like a madman. Great respect. What I absolutely loathe is people committing suicide by truck. Friggin' sick. The truck is not some mechanical entity with no emotions, there's (still) a human being inside. Safe roads to you, unknown wanderer.
I respect you guys so much. I've paid a few trucker's lunch bills at truck stops. I like a truck that's going the right speed and I get way behind it using it as my pace vehicle. If I do have to pass ( not often ) I don't stay in the blind spot very long and I go way ahead so I don't cut the guy off when I have to pass. Bless.
I remember driving on the expressway on one snowy night in Chicago. It was hard to see the lines in the road that separated the lanes. This semi got behind me and put on his high beams. Lit everything up, I never felt safer in my life. 😊😌
I work mostly in NYC, NJ area driving. You have to make sure you look out for the riders on bikes. Some of the only few people out there that understand and respect how the trucks work are bikers. 4 wheelers seem to think you can instantly stop and go.....when ever you can you have to protect those guys on 2 wheels
I ride and I'm a tanker yanker. I always try and wave people on when I'm on "fun roads" then again sometimes I hit the hazards and slow down only to have someone pass me.. right into the problem. Deer, slow truck and even a cyclist. Sometimes people forget that our ass sits 8ft off the ground... we see much more than you do. We also get paid by the mile, we want to go fast also.. it's in our best interest. But killing people that cut us off looks bad on a resume.
I have done a few long distance(400 to 1400 km one way) trips on a bike and the truckers always signalled when I could overtake them.I would hoot when I get next to the driver and they flash the headlights.Later I would stop for a smoke and when they go past me then they climb on the hooters. And so it goes on.Beautiful !!!Thanks truckers👍😂
My stepfather did a lot of long-distance trucking, and carried on doing lots of traveling in a class A motorhome. He's always been great with the traffic and never had any serious accidents. Stay courteous, guys, and watch out for idiots.
I remembered being in a scary part of Iowa, zero vis fog, little a clue to where we really were. When a trucker with nine bright red brake lights appeared like a heaven send, they kept speed with us until we were at an identifiable gas station just before our destination in Minnesota. Truckers are awesome.
You mean you kept speed with the truck? If you saw brake lights that means you were behind the truck right so you were keeping speed with the truck right? Lol
After 38 years riding I can categorically say that truck-drivers are a really decent bunch in the main, and mostly very good drivers. I feel safer surrounded by trucks that with a single 4-wheeler near me.
+The Visitor turns out when you drive for a living you tend to be a better driver... although that rule doesn't seem to apply to taxi drivers for some reason...
+United States of Embarrassment that is straight bullshit. I've seen a trucker plow through a Range rover and a Mercedes with me being a couple of cars in front. i haven't seen a taxi collide yet. They're all humans and makes mistakes you can't discriminate like that and you need to be careful no matter the vehicle.
The Visitor if you feel that way then you're a fool. You're better safe away from trucks and tractor trailers I used to drive a tractor trailer there's a bunch of blind spots in them. The best place to be is away from them
Robert Longwill may have blind spots on them but when your on roads like interstate they are always talking on the CB so they know where you are and what's going on.. a lone truck is blind, a group of rigs running down the road has better vision than any 4wheel
My cousin was a trucker who also liked to ride his motorcycle. One day on I-95 in a heavy Florida downpour he drove his truck behind two motorcycles. The motorcycles had to go slow on the wet road surface. His truck shielded them from the faster traffic wanting to pass. He shielded them until they got to an underpass. The bikers were quite appreciative.
Im Zeigen ikr. Where i live its always dads or moms in vans or sedans being assholes. Truck drivers are always pretty nice. If they need to get in a lane ill let them go
Most bad experiences with truck drivers are a result of the fact that they simply didn't see you. If you're aware of their limits and adapt to them, things get a bit easier.....
Always respect truckers please. I once was driving back from university and a pickup truck brake checked an 18 wheeler (I'm not sure why he was mad at the 18 wheeler), and the 18 wheeler, who obviously cannot decelerate quickly, had to swerve and the truck nearly tipped over. It was on two wheels for a good second and the driver and the people in cars around could have easily been killed or seriously hurt. I'll never forget the ghost white face of the guy in the pickup truck who brake tested the 18 wheelers and almost caused what would have been a deadly accident. He probably never brake tested again.
Anarchist Atheist Something about white dads, including my own lmao, in a pickup truck just makes them assholes I have no idea why. I swear there isn't a more impatient group on the planet... the late 20s BMW drivers may give them a run for their money, but still
@kyndakrazy reminds me of texas during traffic jams during and just after a rain folks try to cut through the ditch to get the frontage road only to get stuck
That’s why you never brake check anything, let alone a vehicle that weighs more than your fucking house... well, you get the point, European house aint that shitty but... Do not brake check a cargo van nor a fucking truck, unless you have a deathwish, but if you do, then jump under a train, it will do the same thing, but much quicker as it is the daddy of the heavy vehicles... Fucking morons who think that you can just stop a 10 ton vehicle like its a fucking bike...
Not trucks but, shitty driving. Just recently some bimbo in a fancy car tailed me as I was going the speed limit, she sped past me and almost ran over someone on a bike (country road.) Dumb bitch
Sometimes they have fancy signature patterns, there's a distinct honor in being in a regular car and a truck blinks a "shave and a haircut" pattern after you let them in your lane
Us truckers have a code, we look out for each other and we all practice common courtesy and safety because we all want to see our families, their counting on us!
Chris Sanchez I know what you're saying, I'm talking about us Coal haulers, most of those over the road drivers don't know how to read road signs, it's like some come into the country and are handed a CDL!
Before I owned a bike, just driving my car even, I've had sweet moments like this with truck drivers. I've held up traffic a few times so truckers could get over. One time they had a bunch of those trailer lights all over the edges and corners and they flashed them a bunch as a thank you haha
I occasionally drove a box truck at work years ago. Ever since I've been more kind to truck drivers. Most people have no idea what it's like to try and merge onto a freeway during rush hour when every car on the road is doing everything they can to not get stuck behind you.
I worked in the Long Beach, CA area for a few years. Lots of trucks trying to merge onto the freeways from the port there. I always gave them a clear lane to merge into. They have a hard enough job without people making it tougher.
I am a truck driver and would've done the same thing. When we flicker our lights really fast, we're saying thank you. God bless you all for giving us a break every now and then.
I always give the big rigs room to move in, and signal them when they are clear. When I get the truckie thank you on the indicators, it makes me happy.
They sometimes blink the hazards once or twice. I also like to flash my high beams before passing on the left. Give them room however; they might take the opportunity to pass the vehicle in front of the rig!
Never flash high beams at a truck. It will do nothing but piss them off. If you want to get their attention flash your lights off and on once. If you think high beams are bad in a car it's ten time worse in a truck especially if he's watching that mirror hard to see if he has room
Nicholas Remarcik I've seen truckers flash their high beams after being passed by another rig as an indication that the passing rig is clear to move in front of the slower rig.
I thought I was going insane when I realized he’s riding 10 min from my house. That road is a dream for bikes, opening up like that is a blessing lol. Peace from CT!
Same reaction here. Thought that brick building on the left looked oddly familiar, then backed up and realized exactly what right turn lane the truck was in at the beginning. Depending where it came from, I'm pretty sure it's still marked poorly which lane you should be in ahead of time.
Funk Therapy lol same goes for the bus drivers.. almost every drivers are too eager to stay infront of someone for no reason.. and plus almost everyone in the city is misusing the horn.. honking at someone even though the red light is lit and when there is a traffic jam.. no patience at all.. cutting someone without their blinkers on.. that is really dangerous and risky especially for riders.
Been riding for years now and can confirm this has been my overwhelming experience with truck drivers. Shoutout to all the cool drivers over the years who did stuff like this
I'm sitting here in cold sweden and wondering how this is special. I Thought this is how people generally behave in traffic. But i guess that's just where i live.
Unfortunately in America about 70% of drivers in cars think they own the road. Especially towards large semi trucks. Many people also don't pay attention to motorcycles or dislike them as well. From what I hear about many European countries is that people respect each other on the road much more than in America.
They do it all the time where I'm from, even if you don't do anything to deserve it. I like to think they're nice, and they almost always drive politely, but at the same time they're usually driving a vehicle owned by someone else, full of cargo owned by someone else, and they probably don't want some dickhead riding their ass where they literally can't even see them so they just let people pass as a rule unless they have no choice. Honestly I do the same thing, a lot of people will get 1 car length behind you and not even realize how annoying or reckless they're being.
Many years ago I was riding down the freeway and out of nowhere this storm hit us. Hard rain and gusty winds. I was fighting through when I noticed this truck driver next to waving at me. He was motioning for me to tuck in behind him. I got in behind him and got a nice long break from the rain. He made sure to double tap brakes when he had to break since I was so close. Ill never forget that.
I just don't understand why people don't yield to trucks and busses like this gentleman. Not only is it respectful to the drivers who carry a lot of responsibility, but it's in everyone's best interests that you take some initiative and let them do what they need to do before they're forced into a tight spot and have to disrupt traffic even more.
It only takes one experience where you get stuck behind this guy for miles and miles without him letting you passed when there are a ton of pulloffs to make you not want to let slower vehicles in. I still do but it can be frustrating when they don't return the favor once traffic gets moving.
Having been a professional driver this video strikes a cord with me. It really takes a lot of patience to be both a rider and a truck driver. Being courteous on the roadways goes a long way, i know it has made or ruined my day many times. I always take a second look for bikers! Nice driving both of you, making us remember that Americas roads are public roads not race tracks. The fact that 80,000 lbs moving at speed was never lost on me still stays with me. Ive seen beautiful and horrible things while OTR, please everybody be patient and courteous so we can all get home safe and mentally UN-scarred... Thank you professional drivers every-where for your diligence, patience and sacrifice! Bikers thank you for reminding us that we are free!
My girlfriend told me the other day she’s too scared to drive near trucks bc it will hit her. I told her, you do realize truckers drive as a job right? If anything she should be scared of everyone else!!
Tbf you do realize some people are bad at their jobs? I respect the 50k rolling tons of steel and petrol as much as I can and give them ample room as I would anyone else
Yes you are right but to put 100% complete blind Faith in it? Yeah no thanks. So many times on the highway a semi truck simply doesn't even realize that you're there and they start merging and almost hit your ass. semi trucks have many blind spots you're going to get your girlfriend killed LOL
I can't say that I'm comfortable driving beside big rigs. When one of those tires detonate, it sounds like an anti-tank gun letting loose. Shook my half-ton truck a football field back, and visibly bounced the trailer. I doubt that automotive bodywork can reliably stop the tire shrapnel.
Then don't put yourself where they can't see you. Scared drivers around trucks are the worst. They put everyone in danger, usually the same people unaware of how their driving is affecting everyone else on the road. Drive smart, drive safe, and if someone needs space, give it to them!
In tight situations I usually try to stay away from semi trucks just because of the difficult maneuverability. In city/country driving there’s just too much that could go wrong. But if you’re on the highway and you stay in a center lane with room to move over if necessary, the safest place to be is right next to a semi truck. Just obviously stay out of their blind spots.
Try my best to let Truckers in and help out. Always cool when you get that brake flash or they flash their emergency lights as a thanks when you do so.
Personally i thank the 4 wheelers who help me in traffic. It can be difficult to maneuver the trailer so it dont hit anyone when its bumper to bumper. Also that turn could of been a hassle if he couldn't merge over. Low clearance, small road tight turns, and ect. I'd do the same for the biker. No need for my slow ox to keep him from his destination.
Eric Bernstorff How do they help you maneuver through traffic? Serious question. Also thank you for being the backbone of our country, people don’t give you guys enough respect.
Advocatus Diaboli Everyone in Sweden does it, we have alot of 2 lane roads with big shoulders, so trucks, and other slower moving traffic moves over and suddenly there's a passing lane, passing vehicle 99% of the time blink "thank you", while slower vehicle flash "your welcome" with the high beams.
@@madhouse2303 they sometimes help by opening a lane for us to move over or slowing down to let us on the highways even stopping early at a stop sign or light for us to corner
And here in their natural habitat we see first hand, the symbiotic relationship between the truck drivers and the motorcyclists. Look at this specimen motorcyclist letting the truck driver pass into his marked territory, and in return is given the affection of passing the truck driver with ease and protection! Nature is beautiful.
"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." Philippians 2:3-4 You are speaking God's truth, Ricardo.
My dad is a trucker so I sometimes go with him and there's been so many times where other truckers are just so kind to each other and even just regular other people who need help. Truckers are so kind even though it can be a tough job.
Wow, I was watching random videos on TH-cam, just clicking on recommended ones. I stumble on this one and immediately knew exactly where it took place. Derby, CT on Rt. 34. My grandma lives literally around the corner. Small world.
yeo literally same just saw this, I grew up in derby. they was right next to the home depot when he let the truck in. Definitely small world you don't see Derby too often on the internet haha
Best drive home for Christmas I ever had involved a truck. Picked him up just north of DFW. When he needed to change lanes, I was behind him and signaled the all clear. We ended up doing this all the way to OKC. I went west, he went east. I leaned over slightly to wave, only to see him looking and waving with a smile on his face. Best Christmas present ever. 😊
l did that today, two truckers had to make a wide right turn and no one ahead of me was letting him go so as a courteous driver l let them make their turn l try to be as courteous as l can.
At the moment when you passed through them give a horn just once and they'll give you back gently just to have “a thanks conversation" between both of you. That's what we do here in Mizoram,North East Part of India... Where the sound of the hills make a melody.
Good to hear..thank you..was wondering no good experience apart from me..??? Being rider... almost 20-years...may have crossed 1 million kms (stopped clocking decade ago..avg 400kms/week). I have so many beautiful moments on roads with fellow travelers...In India..hand gestures are used very often...and I have been asked to wait on multiple occasions before getting gestures of pass..!!! And sure I do wave back in appreciation..!!!
Indranil Rana completely agree, i am an Indian and to be frank it took me several minutes and repeated views to understand what's the big deal in the video. We are so backward when it comes to road ethics.
The truck had to merge on the single lane, the biker allowed him to do that at 0:08.As soon as that stretch was over, the trucker moved to the right to allow the biker to go ahead. Basically, its road ethics. Out here in India, we would just rush in as soon we see a gap.
As a rider myself, something I've learned... There is a comrade rid between truckers and bikers, the smallest vehicles on the roads and the biggest ones. I've been saved by speeding vehicles by a big rig blasting their air horn on two occasions, getting everyone's attention. One even took a hit for me once. Empty flatbed vs the minivan that would have flattened me. By the same token, I've put my pipes (gotta love that rumbling Harley) to use on a number of occasions, usually to get the attention of the guy doing 50 in left lane to MOVE THE HELL OVER so the truck (and myself) can get by. Big truck, big heart.
I'm a Trucker, and I would always prefer a motorcycle pass me rather than a 4 wheeler. Primarily because bikers don't take 2 weeks just to pass and get off my side. They usually wanna stay far away from any potential danger as possible. Which is good for me and for them.
That's because lots of truck drivers like myself are or were also bikers. If you drive multiple forms of transport you get a multiperspective view which can make you a more considerate person.
Oh my gosh thank you so much for this Yes I always always share the roadways with our friends the truckers Don't forget those turn folks please back up to give them room to turn How bout some love for our motorcycle friends too .
Id like to think motorcyclists and trucks have an unspoken bond honestly. Ive always had trucks move slightly to one side of a lane to let me filter through as well as I always make space for them if they need to merge. We know how small and invisible we are to truckers especially with their massive blind spots. Most of them know letting us through will make it safer for the both of us as we wont be stuck in their blindspot not knowing where we are
Semi trucks cannot accelerate nor brake as fast as I can. When I see one in front of me, regardless of the lane either of us are in, I gave them room to move over until there is a safe place to pass in a lawfual fashion, and this includes flooring it to get far enough ahead of them to prevent them from slowing down while I am merging into traffic. Too many drivers are so damn concerned about getting where they need to go that there is a disconnect between the brain and body. I've at times made it a point to slow all traffic on my right and those on my ass to give a trucker a chance to get going without a collision due to a clueless and anal motorist.
Fact: truckers are generally nicer and way more in tuned with the road and environment. All of my encounters with truckers were positive, but i guess it does help to be nice because if not, they could potentially idk use that 16 ton truck and slam ya lol
@@melaniecreek386 i sure as hell aint trying anything with truckers. I know why they do it, but people who purposely cut off truckers or merge narrowly, are fucking stupid.
Naah...been a cab driver in India for 4years..we always had a mutual understanding..some assholes are expected in every community..as per my experience.. people with least experience (private vehicles) are one who creates hell for a yellow plate vehicle..as they the feel that yellow plate driver/owners are poor, hence they can be suppressed!
I'm that car driver you see when thats in the slow lane. I see you waiting on me to merge into my lane. I then merge into the overtaking lane so you can merge into the slow lane quicker an be on your day. :-)
HGV drivers spend their lives on the road and it is hard work moving these things around. Anything that helps their day is much appreciated. I owe my life to an HGV driver as my clutch exploded on a motorway at 70Mph and I had to dive to hard shoulder with zero power but the HGV had clocked me and immediately slowed down to allow me to safely get across. This man I will never meet but had a big influence on my safety.
@@PitestiNation not all american trucks have separate yellow flashers, pumping the brakes essentially does what the hazards will do (flash the brake lights)
that wasn't the brakes, most trucks have whats called a marker light interrupt switch, basically its a spring loaded switch that turns your lights off when you press it and back on when you release
Honestly I like letting trucks over ,it's hard as hell for them in traffic .plus I like to flip my lights to let them over and then get the hazard flip back.makes me feel almost like a trucker lol
RISKY BIZKUTS I cannot begin to express my gratitude to people who are kind enough to flash me when I'm clear to come over. Just know that the hazard flash is the least we can do, and it's not an empty gesture; we really do appreciate it when you allow us to maneuver, because it is sincerely difficult, especially in high traffic situations.
Matthew King How does one go abouts doing that? Would I flash whichever turn signal is appropriate to let you know that you're clear? I'm genuinely curious, thanks.
Yeah, I love the non-verbal conversation that takes place: Trucker flips turn signal- "May I move into your lane, please?" Motorist flashes brights - "Certainly. Come on over." After changing lanes, trucker hits hazards.- "Thank you kindly." 🤗🤗🤗
oh god I swear to god I know this street. By any chance is this between Connecticut and New York. Theres a dam there right? I take this back road all the time to head to west haven. I must know! so weird lmao Edit: I know im right because look at the Connecticut license plates. Sorry guys for my rambling, but I think its pretty cool how i stumbled upon a video like this haha
LifeStealer 360 I mean, if you have anything other than 4 wheels you are probably nice to others. Motorcyclists are generally very honest good people. Except cyclists, those are douchebags. And I ride a bike a lot, but consider myself a biker, not a cyclist, it's a much healthier term as we bikers don't take up lanes and also try to be respectful.

Deer, slow truck and even a cyclist. Sometimes people forget that our ass sits 8ft off the ground... we see much more than you do.
We also get paid by the mile, we want to go fast also.. it's in our best interest. But killing people that cut us off looks bad on a resume.
tanker yanker here to brother. all i have to say is stay safe out there
I have done a few long distance(400 to 1400 km one way) trips on a bike and the truckers always signalled when I could overtake them.I would hoot when I get next to the driver and they flash the headlights.Later I would stop for a smoke and when they go past me then they climb on the hooters. And so it goes on.Beautiful !!!Thanks truckers👍😂

I remembered being in a scary part of Iowa, zero vis fog, little a clue to where we really were. When a trucker with nine bright red brake lights appeared like a heaven send, they kept speed with us until we were at an identifiable gas station just before our destination in Minnesota.
Truckers are awesome.
i live in iowa
You mean you kept speed with the truck? If you saw brake lights that means you were behind the truck right so you were keeping speed with the truck right? Lol
Clearly, 9 Red lights not Brakes.
Why is the fog so bad in Iowa? Every time I drive through there (Im a trucker) there is fog
You probably shouldn't drive in zero visibility
After 38 years riding I can categorically say that truck-drivers are a really decent bunch in the main, and mostly very good drivers. I feel safer surrounded by trucks that with a single 4-wheeler near me.
+The Visitor turns out when you drive for a living you tend to be a better driver... although that rule doesn't seem to apply to taxi drivers for some reason...

Well Anit that the truth
Always respect truckers please. I once was driving back from university and a pickup truck brake checked an 18 wheeler (I'm not sure why he was mad at the 18 wheeler), and the 18 wheeler, who obviously cannot decelerate quickly, had to swerve and the truck nearly tipped over. It was on two wheels for a good second and the driver and the people in cars around could have easily been killed or seriously hurt. I'll never forget the ghost white face of the guy in the pickup truck who brake tested the 18 wheelers and almost caused what would have been a deadly accident. He probably never brake tested again.
Patrick Star there are a lot of pick up truck drivers that are pieces of shit.

Do not brake check a cargo van nor a fucking truck, unless you have a deathwish, but if you do, then jump under a train, it will do the same thing, but much quicker as it is the daddy of the heavy vehicles... How does that works?
I occasionally drove a box truck at work years ago. Ever since I've been more kind to truck drivers. Most people have no idea what it's like to try and merge onto a freeway during rush hour when every car on the road is doing everything they can to not get stuck behind you.
Ryan Bray I feel for them. Occasionally I drive my dad's Ram 3500 6 speed. That can be a pain. I cant imagine driving a big rig
I know what you mean man, it's the same thing for a school bus driver.
I worked in the Long Beach, CA area for a few years. Lots of trucks trying to merge onto the freeways from the port there. I always gave them a clear lane to merge into. They have a hard enough job without people making it tougher.

Signal the *truck* to pass it.
I am a truck driver and would've done the same thing. When we flicker our lights really fast, we're saying thank you. God bless you all for giving us a break every now and then.
I always give the big rigs room to move in, and signal them when they are clear. When I get the truckie thank you on the indicators, it makes me happy.
They flick the indicators right and then left and then right again.
They sometimes blink the hazards once or twice. I also like to flash my high beams before passing on the left. Give them room however; they might take the opportunity to pass the vehicle in front of the rig!
Glad you like that, will keep thanking you for your courtesy.

I'm sitting here in cold sweden and wondering how this is special. I Thought this is how people generally behave in traffic. But i guess that's just where i live.
Chris Holmqvist Your country has many problems, exceeding the severity of road traffic I can assure you.
Unfortunately in America about 70% of drivers in cars think they own the road. Especially towards large semi trucks. Many people also don't pay attention to motorcycles or dislike them as well. From what I hear about many European countries is that people respect each other on the road much more than in America.
Ah yes, atleast we have free healthcare in the rape capital of the world
Is there such a thing as warm Sweden?
well yeah this entire summer has been shit, and all out forests have burnt down.
This shows how insanely nice truckers are. That was probably one of the nicest things ever for a trucker to do that.

To be completely honest, this warmed my heart.

Yes I always always share the roadways with our friends the truckers

How bout some love for our motorcycle friends too .
Imagine a world where every driver is as wholesome as this truck driver.
Fact: truckers are generally nicer and way more in tuned with the road and environment. All of my encounters with truckers were positive, but i guess it does help to be nice because if not, they could potentially idk use that 16 ton truck and slam ya lol
