I've never seen an interview with Mark Millar. I really enjoyed this. He's very personable. Hearing him talk about comics, he exudes a childlike excitement and wonder for the medium, which is so fun.

That's why I respect Millar even if I dislike most of is comics because everything he does seems to come from a true place of earnest love for is job. Even if I don't like is work I always feel is trying is best.

His work is plenty popular. Though I'd argue with the other comment and say he's great at premises, but his work often falls into over the top edge or rushes its premise's end.

He’s great at concepts, but I tend to hate his actual finished work; I almost always like what other people do with his concepts and characters a whole lot more than what he does with them; so I actually have no interest in what he has to say, especially because I seriously doubt Sasha intends to ‘call him on his bs’, and will just be polite, and open-minded, like she always is…

I think I read Superior and then Starlight, and then Nemesis and the Unfunnies next, so that was real tonal whiplash. Even later, I read The Ultimates, The Authority, and more recently Superman Adventures, and these too have different tones. I've found myself sort of going backwards through Mark Millar's career now that I've read most of Millarworld lol. A lot of people claim Mark Millar only writes in 1 way, and pigeonhole him as a specific type of writer, but that's just untrue. While I've noticed some themes, tropes, or ideas that he reuses sometimes, he's still able to vary the tone of his writing overall. I imagine if I read a lot of comics written by another writer, I'd also find similarities in their writing across a majority of their books.

And I loved All-Star Squadron, especially with Jerry Ordway, and Infinity Inc. volume 1 and Young All-Stars. And the DC 80s Blue Beetle, Question and Captain Atom. I really liked the Man of Steel with George Byrne too.

I brought the secret service when it came out because it had Dave Gibbons art. Any 2000ad reader since it started adores him and Brian Bolland art wise.
