speaking about timely topics. Since the shang-chi movie is out I think it'll be a great time To go into his origins. I mean the man was the son of a old pulp villain Dr. fu manchu Before marvel lost the rights too Dr. fu manchu. Shang-chi is the byproduct of Asian spoitation and pulp. That something to talk about.
I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE WITH WHAT YOURE SAYIN ON CAPT. AMERICA, BUT ID LIKE TO ADD TO IT. MAYBE THE REASON YOURE NOT SEEING WHAT THE OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING AND JUST SEEING SOMETHING "RACIST" IS BECAUSE AS SOON AS CAP HEARS IT, ITS WHAT IT IS INTERPRETED TO IN CAPS HEAD. HOPE THAT MADE SENSE, CAUSE IT DID IN MY HEAD.
I also would totally read a Wolverine comic with him just not getting apps and stuff, especially if its Kitty Pryde having to help him out. They are such a cute Father/Daughter pairing
It *hurts* when I don't see Steve being an artist that often, it's things like that that make characters really amazing besides being heroic. Steve's an artist, Logan loves The Rolling Stones, Clint has Blade Runner on laser disc.
Details like that are why I love the king of fighters world over any other fighting game. Besides the much more mobile gameplay with interesting neutral the characters feel like well rounded interesting people with all kinds of interests and quirks
Marvel Infinity, it should now be the Jeff the Shark app. I have to give it to Marvel, they put in some variety with these stories, but maybe they should really categorize it better. Like you said about going from Jeff to Cap's stories, so it doesn't just break your neck from the tonal whiplash.
I gotta agree. Of all the comics showcased, the It's Jeff one was my favorite. The other ones just, were generally off. Overall, I do like DC's approach to this better. Like there are so many amazing and free webcomics, it's basically an entirely different approach compared to standard comics. Like overall, I do think DC's choice of intergrating with what's already there is the much better choice.
I find the format of Webtoons leads me to read more comics. I can quickly read something with the same satisfying scroll that social media instilled in me.
The "censored" statements in Captain America could work if they were using it to show how disconnected he is from the world. For example when he's on a date with Sharon they could have her say, "Generic statement of love" and use that to represent how distant he is getting. This way it shows he's not always hearing their words but what he thinks their intent is. If they did this then you could use it as a misunderstanding at some point later (like someone says something that sounds racist if you're looking for it, but isn't actually racist) and that could be a small jumping off point for him to be more cognizant of the situation instead of purely black and white (but here's where they need to be careful, because they need to show he's seeing things as black and white because otherwise he'd look mindless and very much not Steve).
@@Tamlinearthly Yeah, but the people aren't. Cap is disconnected from how people put more effort into being topical than being present to other human beings.

Well hardcore bigoted leftists are writing these, so you aren't going to get nuance or intelligence from them. You are asking too much from activists who demonize everyone that doesn't blindly agree with them as Nazis
Same. Admittedly it works better in Captain America since it's about him fighting white supremacists so it makes sense for them to say racist things. Whereas “unsolicited opinions on Israel" comes from Angela Queen of Hel, which takes place nowhere near Israel, and the villain has no in-universe reason to care about Israel. That said, I'm not a fan of that stand-in dialog in general. I think it would have been better for them to show what the villains actually said and show thought bubbles from Cap where he reacts negatively to what the villians say. For a serious topic like racism, I feel like this is pulling way too many punches to where it makes the message less impactful.
"Insert racism here" For when you want to have the mind numbing affect of a PSA without bothering to have the balls to make an actual statement and are so scared of backlash that really what was the point? Silence is complicity and yet we refuse to say anything lol
It’s just so pointless, if you don’t feel comfortable having the conversation why even bring it up? It’s just pure virtue signaling from Marvel, they want to seem progressive because they want to attract a younger demographic because that’s who will download and pay for their app. It’s a shame though, I think a story about what it means to be Captain America in the current political climate, and how Steve has to basically perform an acceptable version of his identity, could be really interesting reads but it kind of just feels like this story’s message begins and ends with “Captain America is not a racist actually, though we will not elaborate on what we mean by that”.
Didn't know about them, Jeff the Shark and Tiny Avengers look interesting but not 'subscription' interesting. Also, I tend to miss your live streams...but have you ever given a 'tour' of your collected editions and why you have them?
For the Captain America set, the way the controversial speech bubbles are blocked out, I’m wondering if the generalized statements were actually fully written out but were literally blocked out in editing. Some of them have extra blocking just to use two or three words to say what they were, possibly meaning that it wasn’t the writer’s decision to initially be vague but maybe Marvel setting the rules after the fact.
We’re getting a Hit-Monkey cartoon, with any luck we’ll see something about a certain landshark in the future. But in general, can’t wait to miss this! Paying for something that isn’t mine; where do I sign up??!!

What annoys me is that DC chose the perfect concept, art style, creative team, franchise, and platform for their webcomic. Marvel just said "throw popular characters and writers at the wall" Like, Moon Girl or Champions or Squirrel Girl would do NUMBERS on Webtoon or Tapas. Or maybe a story about one of the many superhero couples (maybe not Susan and Reed though) . But I can't see any of Marvel's infinity comics (besides Jeff) doing well among webcomic fans. Not to mention, on Webtoon DC's books will be recommended to you by the algorithm and sorted by genre. But the marvel ones are just thrown on there. It works for older fans, but that's not who they should be going for! We're already here and reading the many books coming out monthly
I think DC being partners with webtoons might play a part in why Marvel isn't going to webtoons. Webtoons have been doing this longer than Marvel has so they have a better understanding of how to make it work. I’m old school. I just can’t get comfortable reading my comics on a device. The constant adjusting to make sure everything fits your screen and etc. I do like the concept of creating comics for a different audience without alienating its core audience.
For me it’s reading traditional style comics are not fun to read on my phone so I still buy physical copies but I have been reading manga online for years so when WEBTOON came out I feel I. Love with the format.I like the vertical style as I think it’s unique.

I have to say discovering your channel has been a total joy, but what really sold me was "choo-choo, it's the hype train" in such a monotone voice. I legitimately laughed at that, out loud!
I think my issue with the censored statements is that I get what they're going for, but since this book is written from Steve's perspective trivializing what is being said from an opposing viewpoint instead of coming across like the opposing side is wrong, it comes across as Steve just dismissing what is being said and chalking it up to a buzz phrase. And that's a problem with a lot of sociopolitical discussions, that one side or another doesn't actually listen to what the other is saying and just projects their own pre-established views onto what is being told to them, which breaks down any conversation trying to be had. So Steve can come across as condescending or even closed-minded in a sense, since it comes across like he's not listening to what is being said only his knee-jerk view on it, which I'm pretty sure isn't the intention. I dunno, it's complicated, especially when you go in assuming that the reader is coming from the same place as the author.
i've always loved dc and im a canvas webtoon artist and reader so I was really hyped for dc stuff. but I was also hyped when stan lee started a comic on webtoon right before he passed. so I have a preference to the app I already have
Love how they're sticking with Black Widow's newer comics uniform with the hood. Also love how you read BW's lines in a light Russian accent cuz I do the same thing
I'm glad you covered this! I'd heard that Marvel was releasing Marvel Unlimited Only Comics, but didn't know when or what. You did better marketing than their lead of marketing team!
I stopped mid way through this video and read the first four installments of Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, it took me all of 10 minutes to find and check them out, really fast and witty pieces. I will be sure to check up on that run from time to time if I get another chance like that to read a bunch of them at once because it was actually pretty fun. On the other hand for Marvel - look at that little shark guy, too cute.
16:39 Speaking of which, did Perth West Australia ever turn back after Hickman's Aventers and Secret Wars thing ended? Everyone there got turned to plants.
Whait a minute! A hate group in possession of a sonic weapon that can be used to mindcontrol people? IT'S THE HATE-MONGER!!! That Fantastic Four villain from the 70's or so
Reading WebToons for quite a while, I have started to see which Korean series are planned to get volumes someday and which aren't. It's pretty fun, although Korean comics/graphic novels are quite pricey unfortunately so while I have a small collection of Korean volumes I can't really read (because why not), do I still like having them and flipping through the pages. So far I have some of Lookism, some of Orange Marmalade, Crepuscule, and Flow.
Given how the global shipping issues are kinda tearing the industry up a little because of delays I can understand throwing some money at digital product.
For the Shang-Chi part, it seemed that this is where the "True Believers" captions would pop in to clue you in to what is going on. Jeff missed me when he debut'd cause they went digital only with my girl Gwen. There is nothing like owning the issues when they come out and the pandemic really cut that world off for me.
I stumbled across this channel because of the "I am not Starfire" mess, and it's honestly really starting to grow on me. I think I've seen enough to sub now, thanks for the good content and keep it up!😀
I moved to Japan 8 years ago and haven’t been able to read American comics since then. Luckily Marvel Unlimited is international, so I can once again read my weekly Marvel Comics, but DC seems to have decided to keep their app limited to US only, so I have t been able to read any DC comics. Hopefully they’ll wake up and go international eventually.
Gotta give it to DC. None of these marvel comics really speak to me and just kinda seem like normal comic books that could be sold anywhere. Bat Family feels very Webtoon and has such a good mix of new and old. Can't say I'm interested in downloading Marvels new app at all, and I'm a huge Marvel fan.
I'm really enjoying the batfamily comic on Webtoons (which I learned from this channel so thank you :D). Honestly I don't think I'll try the Marvel one. Subscription + downloading software is not my cup of tea.
I'm guessing the Amazing Fantasy comic is linked to...well, Amazing Fantasy. Although that doesn't feature Wolverine so...I'm not sure why it needed to be linked?
This is the first time one of your vids appeared for me in my timeline i usually watch a log of comic book videos, i appreciate seeing new faces. You talked very fast in the video and it kinda threw me off i felt like i was being overloaded with info. I get theres a lot to go through but could you consider slowing the pace down a bit next time! Looking foward to what ever you upload ne t
I'm a dc reader, but I don't do social media. So I wouldn't have heard of their Round Robin event if not for your video on it. And I wouldn't be aware of Wayne Family Adventures if not for your video on that. The lack of non online adverts is...interesting. Old Man Logan and a computer? I can see it now: Issue one: Logan gets a spam email. 'What's this? Someone in Nigeria is having to flee for their life? All their money could be taken? They need my help!' Issue two: Logan In Nigeria, breaking heads and bones till he finds the fugitive Prince. Issue three: Logan In Nigeria, breaking heads and bones once someone explains it to him. Call me, Marvel!
I remember a cute comic about a Puppy Shark (Shark Pup? Don't remember the name exactly) back in the olden times of 2013. It was viral on tumblr (which was actually relevant back then). I had assumed Jeff and SharkDog were based on that.
i'm not big on digital comics, i like my physical media. i do have Webtoons cause it's more creator based and Lore Olympus is the best. i like the chibi Avengers, it reminds me of Super Hero Squad, i'd read that. It's Jeff looks adorable and he's just asking to be a plushie
LOVE this wig on you! The beautiful color really compliments your lovely skin tone so well! If you don’t mind sharing, where did you get this particular wig? IDK if it’d look as good on me, but I’d really like to try it.
The publishers expanding to the digital market is nice, but I'll wait for more marvel projects to pay for the app, on the other hand I already use webtoon so is easier to access the Batman comic About the Captain America stuff I think it "could" work but I'm not sure how to implement it right, obviously not using it with the main antagonist is a start, maybe the lower goons but not the villain, like Cap's stories are very centered on ideals, so not having the villain explain what he believes in takes away the weight, at the same time I understand what they were going for, but it doesn't really work for me.
I think marvel should really wait and chose what comics they want to release. Digital is a great step forward (Although using the manga format would also work) but they can't just throw stuff and see what sticks. Learn from dc. Carefully decide what you want to produce.
These feel really all over the place. Some seem genuinely entertaining and interesting while others just make me ask "Why?" And the Cap thing... I get what they wanted to do there but I feel that approach falls flat. If you want to provoke a mature conversation about a topic like racism or nationalism or whatever you can't shy away from it at the same time. Will that possibly be hard to see for some whove experienced that first hand? Very likely, but without the clarity of seeing what is said and done your muddying the message. Sometimes it really does take seeing ideas you've seen or heard all around you presented for what they are to realize it. As a white man living in the Midwest in a fairly conservative family and area... Lets just say there are a lot of attitudes and things said around here that I didn't realize for what they were til I got older and saw similar attitudes and words in media being called out for the racism they were.
I love your videos Sasha! You mentioned substack and I've been hearing a lot about it lately but not totally certain what it is. Would it be too much to ask for you to do a video explaining it?
I think the issue with things like the Cap story falls into the realm of two sides saying something and not hearing each other. A lot of writers these days are so entrenched in their politics that they've lost sight of the difference between social commentary and preaching. Then when other people say "keep your politics out of my comics" what they're really trying to get across is that they aren't willing to pay to get preached at when what they came for was an overall engaging story. Both sides feel entitled to a certain standard and end up just reeeeeing at each other across a philosophical canyon. I don't even want politics when I generally agree with the sentiment. For example I'm fairly anti-gun but there was an episode of Supergirl where a lot of the plot revolved around guns bad, end of story and I wondered if the writers had ever had an open-minded conversation with reasonable, responsible gun owners at all.
Lmao no, they're leftist activists and it's their way or you're a Nazi. They've had the same attitude for more than a decade and aren't changing anytime soon
I prefer the new marvel unlimited app because the old ui sucked, you couldn't even save a series you had to save each issue if you wanted the whole thing. I would just save the first one of the series to read it. I hope they get more content, I really would like the Alan Moore captain Britain run
It's kind of odd with the Captain America stuff. It's an odd response to the Fight Club/American History X/Scarface problem, namely that people massively miss the point and taking it all as an endorsement of these ideas.
Or that they've been repeatedly caught putting basic rational stuff in the mouths of the most heinous people because the authors are so far adrift. See anything by Spencer or Coates.
Gotta at least try to speak up in defense of digital comics: I’ve got a sizable comixology collection and some of my collection has been taken down/delisted from the store (Archie’s incredible Mega Man springs to mind) But the point is, years later and I haven’t lost access. I’ve been told that even after Amazon absorbs the comixology store I’ll still have access. I get the concern, but considering most of the series was never collected, digital is/was the only real option (outside of pirating) for most. And short of the whole platform going down, I don’t think I have anything to worry about (unless fear mongering and physical snobbery destroys the potential market for digital comics…)
Webtoons works great. I rarely read comics these days and so this is allowed me to fall in love again with characters I have missed on a platform I enjoy
I feel Marvel Infinity will barely scrape by, just from Jeff the Shark, I say this because the paid aspect is skewed more and I feel like the paid part will cause a lesser draw that is likely to occur, and Webtoon meanwhile is isolated so it will be good for people less into the comics and DC may be able to bring in more people into the DC universe in their work with Webtoon as its more avalible and again free over time. Jeff is really all thats pulling people to the marvel app as its a joke comic and i looked at them, since you mention they are quick, and that is an understatement as I read them in under a minute, even Webtoon's less story focused comics take me atleast a minute or two. Marvel really pulling punches hard
Guys I had a dream and didn't know where else to turn. Magneto and Wolverine were fighting for the FIRST time, and Magneto tore his shirt off, and pretended to deflect Wolvie's claws with his bare arms, D&D monk style, by activating his mutant abilities JUST as the blow would've struck. Can he do this? Is he that much of a chad? How long would this fool Logan? Ok thanks. I had to get this off my chest.
I only learned about Shark Dog last week with my nephews and immediately went “hey that’s Jeff!” and then the boys questioned me To actually add to the conversation, I’m a new subscriber to Marvel Unlimited bc I wanted a chance to dive into the library and the infinity comics seemed cool to me. I think they have potential to tell really cool stories that aren’t as big as the normal comics while also catering to more niche things like Jeff and the big little ones and easing new people into franchises like it did with me and Shang Chi. So while not the most graceful app and kinda pricey I think it’s worth it at the moment
I don't think this was a Webtoons reaction, This App Based, DC has there own App Exclusives , Webtoons is branching out their YA. Marvel uses Disney for that route. Also falling down the Webtoons Loop sounds more of a Viz type route.
TH-cam shorts? Comic shorts? Shorts everywhere? Is shorts gonna be a new way of expression? Who knows... Sasha you should start making more shorts videos comic style. I promise it will be the bonkers

It’s Jeff and Giant-Size Little Marvels and Bat-Family are officially on my weekly pull list lol
I really like mj loves Spider-Man as well 👍🏻
Reading WebToons for quite a while, I have started to see which Korean series are planned to get volumes someday and which aren't.
It's going to be a while before shipping gets back to normal.
So may as well take advantage of digital media.
The red hair is amazing it's got this black widow thing that I love
Great hair Sasha. I loved it.
Thanks for the information!! That was really helpful!! And saved me some $$!!!!
Sasha, you actually are the best there is at what you do.
Was the reference to the plant people in X-Men about the Cotati from Empyre? Or was Sasha talking about something else?
Probably that Beast turned an entire nation of people into plant monsters and that's having some negative repercussions.
@@justanotherglorpsdaymornin5097 Oh, shoot, I didn’t know about that haha. I still need to catch up . Which comic is this in? X-Force?
@@gemmamoon5998 yeah X-Force. Beast is practically Dark Beast nowadays.
@@justanotherglorpsdaymornin5097 We hate to see it. I like Beast a lot. Him as a villain ain’t it
What do you think about the new nightwing run? I personally love the art and I think is the best nightwing story in a loooooooong time
18:45 Shit man. I never thought of that. I need to think on it a smidge. I still may steal it, though.
I think I've seen enough to sub now, thanks for the good content and keep it up!😀
Jay Edidin getting actual Marvel work is something I will always enjoy.
Captain America seems a bit out of character in the bar. I don’t think he would assault people who he could handle with words.
Diggin the red wig. very cool.
Also Jeff needs to get into the Pet Avengers. Just saying.
3:10 Isn't the comics page itself a Vertical Format?...
6:39 I just recently read this after an Amanda McKnight live stream where she had redeemable cuddles for a Jeff plushy. It was okay, man.
JEFF THE LANDSHARK IS SOMETHING I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED!!
Tales from the loop is s great show, didn't expect it to be shouted out here
I'm really enjoying the batfamily comic on Webtoons (which I learned from this channel so thank you :D).
The transition to the ad was smooth.
I can see it now:
Issue one: Logan gets a spam email. 'What's this? Someone in Nigeria is having to flee for their life? All their money could be taken? They need my help!'
Issue two: Logan In Nigeria, breaking heads and bones till he finds the fugitive Prince.
"How do you, fellow kids?" - Marvel, 2021
"Hey look it's Wolverine, again! Are there other X-Men? I've heard legends."
BWAHAHAHAHA accurate
The publishers expanding to the digital market is nice, but I'll wait for more marvel projects to pay for the app, on the other hand I already use webtoon so is easier to access the Batman comic
About the Captain America stuff I think it "could" work but I'm not sure how to implement it right, obviously not using it with the main antagonist is a start, maybe the lower goons but not the villain, like Cap's stories are very centered on ideals, so not having the villain explain what he believes in takes away the weight, at the same time I understand what they were going for, but it doesn't really work for me.
I choose to believe the plot of X-Men Unlimited being about a limited team saving the rest of them was done as a joke.
I think marvel should really wait and chose what comics they want to release. Digital is a great step forward (Although using the manga format would also work) but they can't just throw stuff and see what sticks. Learn from dc. Carefully decide what you want to produce.
I need an MCU Jeff the Shark, give marvel that Baby Yoda merch
I hope I can easily access them in the UK I tried with the previous version and it didn’t work out, don’t remember why.
Spidey Loves MJ was written by Terry Moore, who also wrote, drew and self published the independent comic Strangers In Paradise....
"They're not getting his vision" - well Vizh hadn't been created yet when Cap was in the ice.
Unless you count Aarkus.
@@SimonMoon5 Ah, I forgot about him. Ironic as I was reading one of his 1940s adventures the other day.
8:43 National Treasure reference?
I prefer the new marvel unlimited app because the old ui sucked, you couldn't even save a series you had to save each issue if you wanted the whole thing. I would just save the first one of the series to read it. I hope they get more content, I really would like the Alan Moore captain Britain run
My favorite was the Jeff one, works well with the format.
I loved "It's Jeff," though I would enjoy a printed comic. Jeff is just too darn cute!
Gotta at least try to speak up in defense of digital comics: I’ve got a sizable comixology collection and some of my collection has been taken down/delisted from the store (Archie’s incredible Mega Man springs to mind)
But the point is, years later and I haven’t lost access.
DC also has Batman: Audio Adventures. It says it is an HBO Max Original but it is also available on TH-cam.
Webtoons works great. I rarely read comics these days and so this is allowed me to fall in love again with characters I have missed on a platform I enjoy
Considering how much I use webcomic apps I think it’s a smart move.
But I’m not planning to get another one for Marvel
Yooo... How about a review of Big Ethel Energy?
I thought Marvel Unlimited was a ComiXology offshoot
That's my biggest problem with digital,I really enjoy holding comics in my hand.
Tales from the Loop - shout out! Yaay!!!!
I only learned about Shark Dog last week with my nephews and immediately went “hey that’s Jeff!” and then the boys questioned me
To actually add to the conversation, I’m a new subscriber to Marvel Unlimited bc I wanted a chance to dive into the library and the infinity comics seemed cool to me.
If you want to print the up to down comics bring back scrolls
I “read” its’s Jeff! And that jaws thing is so stupid but I want a big Jeff plushie!
TH-cam shorts?
Comic shorts?
Shorts everywhere?
Is shorts gonna be a new way of expression? Who knows...
Sasha you should start making more shorts videos comic style. I promise it will be the bonkers
Well, shorts are comfy and easy to wear, after all.
Finally I saw Sharkdog by Nick Jr. Then saw Jeff and was confused. What's with all the landsharks?
