My mother in law told me she had a problem with her dryer not drying. The clog was completely cutting off the air flow. When I checked it for functionality, the element was glowing red hot. More dangerous than you'd think.
We bought my in-law’s house after they passed away. Filled with their stuff. I didn’t realize until the dryer died that there as no dryer vent! It was blowing hot, moist air and lint behind it. It sits in our garage, against an exterior wall. We cut the hole for the dryer vent directly behind the vent port, so there is only a few inches between the dryer and the great outdoors! Works great. We can remove the vent cover on the outside and vacuum and bits of lint.we can visually inspect and grab anything that doesn’t belong.
Good job on what you cleaned however there is one more step and it can be a big fire waiting too happen. You need to clean out the blower, my old Maytag does not accumulate much in the blower but a few Kenmore / Whirlpool I checked were plugged almost solid with enough lint to fill a kitchen green bin. Take out the door screws on both sides then pull the front cover off, this should let you see the blower. The blower housing comes apart via clips or screws once the cover is removed vacuum out the blower then assemble.
We have an LG front load dryer. Even though we clean the lint trap every load, a little bit falls off the screen each time it's removed causing lint to built up in the bottom of the screen slot. Eventually the screen no longer fully seats and now we've got unscreened exhaust headed down the vent pipe. Dopey design, LG!
I have never lived anywhere where there was a run of venting in the wall. I change the entire vent hose every few years, because its cheaper than buying a brush and we have cats and dogs, and even cleaning the lint trap every time stuff builds up. But wow! That was a lot of lint!
I have a 16-foot vent running through a crawl space. The warm moist air from the dryer hits the cold pipe and the lint will stick. Over time you get a clog. I bought an extension vent brush and pushed the lint from the dryer out to the outside. It's a job that needs to be done every other year.
My daughter and son-in-law's dryer wasn't drying at all. Whoever the moron was who built their house had the dryer venting straight up and out of the roof, a vertical push of 12 to 14 feet at least. I put my leaf blower on it and it looked like Mt. Vesuvius erupting.
I used to take all of my venting apart and vacuum the whole thing. I found a shortcut. Pull the filter out and then start and run it for about 20-25 seconds and you can hear all of the funk coming out. It won't do it with the filter in though, it has to be out.
@@advsLLC Interesting. Then why not made a home made adapter between the dryer intake (without the filter) and the blower. This way you do not even need to remove the dryer or anything. The pulsation action should dislodge most of the link. ???
Should consider making a cone-shaped thing out of foam rubber to seal around the blower for this. Save a bit of hassle with all that lint-dust blow-back getting everywhere in the house. Alternately, it's possible to get an extra-long shop vac hose to get a tube like that cleaned with suction from outside. (May have to order online, but those do exist.) That way you don't have to clean up afterwards or have stuff blow right into your eyes.
Excellent point. I would have removed the flexible hose and cleaned that thoroughly, then vacuumed inside the dryer's exhaust housing rather than blowing lint all over the place.
What is the attachment you are using with your drill? I have the sticks, but your tool looks way easier to use. Where can a fellow get this drill connection?
Yea, I didn't use to wear one however my TH-cam family jumped on me enough times that I had to start... I learn a lot from my viewers just like others hopefully learn from my content! Thx for watching AND for your comment!

@@advsLLC I think they are asking if you brushed/vacuumed the flex duct from the dryer to the wall, or inside the dryer, you didn't show it. On my dryer, I need to vacuum out the area under the filter about once a year, otherwise the lint build up keeps the filter from seating properly.
Deferred maintenance? I brush out my dryer vent every 6 months. Tons of lint comes out! Even though we clean out the lint trap after every use. I use a similar brush to yours.
If you're able, go for it! That's what the channel is for! It's also to spread the word to others that can't clean theirs for whatever reason... Thx for watching!
Not drying…. Could be it needs a new element ie what makes the heat. Super cheap about $15 and minutes to install. That wasn’t enough stuff to be a complete clog. What is the other one for? Also it’s almost falling off the wall. Now that he has lint everywhere in the air. I don’t care for workers like this who act like it’s this huge issue and want to charge the customer like it is. He didn’t try the dryer prior to doing the blower.. I don’t think, will have to go back and look. But he still didn’t check if it’s drying hot enough to dry a load of clothes nor what the other vent was.
Could be multiple reasons... The main one being I try to respect my client's home... Not only have they trusted me to enter their home, given me permission to put their home on TH-cam and allowed me to clean their dryer vent! In this situation, they had a 6-month-old kiddo napping... Regardless of if I can film, my client is the most important in the end! I appreciate you watching!
If I was the client and you blew that s*** all over my yard I would be 38 hot with you. There's not some type of a net deal or something you can put on the end of that to catch that debris. I do plumbing on Palm Beach Island and we aren't permitted to leave any mess so it's really easy to respect your client's property. Do You bro but just a suggestion.
Ok, so when the dryer vent is working correctly, where does the lint go? Also, you clearly haven’t paid much attention to my videos… Do you think I simply leave the lint in the yard? I will continue to “do me” however when you suggest I don’t respect my clients property, it shows your blatant ignorance of my work…. I appreciate you watching.
@@advsLLC It’s so simple to see the people that have the attention span of a tsetse fly - he clearly proved his ignorance by his remark and showed us he did not watch the whole video (especially the part where you cleaned up the outside and actually left it cleaner than when you arrived.) Unfortunately that happens a LOT!!! Definitely pinning this comment!!! ❤❤❤
If there are no 90's in the vent, I would bet there may be a screw or nail protruding into the airway that is accumulating lint.

WOW!!!!! Another great video!
THANK YOU!!!
And the moral of the story, kiddos, is: Always clean your lint trap after every single load without fail.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
The clot caused the clog!

Gotta love engineers... They're full of "great" ideas... Thx for watching!
The dryer also has a fan that collects lots of lint
Try adding a fishnet bag over the outlet to catch all the crap that comes out of the tubes. Will save you some clean up.
Helpful video thanks.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!!!
How power setting do you use for your blower?
Just a thought, but a camera that you could inspect the vent tubes would be interesting, and a lot to the channel!
Agreed! I have one on order, lol! I think it would definitely bring a cool aspect as well!

Gotta ask, what brush is that?? First one I’ve seen that doesn’t come in sections and I want one
Hopefully I'll be selling them very soon!

If you got a women stacking to put over the vent it would catch all the debris
Did you have to vacuum the laundry room up? What a mess, you could have at least held it down at the vent.😅
My money is on a nail also. If it's only 5 ft the best thing to do is to jump a camera in there and make sure that it's not going to clog again.
What about the vent on the dryer?;
