    Wow! You went above and beyond on this one! I learned a lot. Thank you! Just a note, I tint white embossing paste with Color Burst pigment powders. It works great and since it’s not a liquid it doesn’t really change the consistency of the paste.

    You are super helpful in reviewing craft products. I love that you give honest impressions of each one.
    Junk mail with plastic cards is a source of craft tools. Other source is the kitchen gadget section of your favorite stores for mini size spatulas & cake decorating spatulas. I like the metal palette knives for detailed stencils.
    Tip for changing the color of your paste type products is to take some out and mix on a teflon mat. That way you don’t contaminate your jar.
    Nuvo mouse if it were in smaller jars it would be a hit but since they tend to not put the full directions on that particular product I will not buy it again. Mold issues if you use your fingers, tap water, double dipping your tool. Some issues one has with any product is where you purchase from - some places the product is old to begin with. If you know how their product code works you will know if the product is “fresh”.
    Cleaning your jar threads after use and putting press-n-seal helps keep products from drying out.
    Great video ❤️
    Forgot to say I love Brutus Monroe Chroma Glazes for a smooth shiny embellishment to projects.

      Thanks so much for adding all this amazing information to the post! I'm sure we will all find great use from it. I'm not a huge fan of the mousse. I feel like there's so many other products that I could get better results from and from what I hear my mousse was dried out although these were 2 brand new jars

    • @bertas-cards

      I liked the effect it gives to embossed panels. Just needs some improvements in their formula & size of jar to help retain its creaminess. Since a tiny bit goes a long way.

    I love your videos. You and a select few others seem to truly understand what is helpful information. I also love when you throw in something a funny like trying to do something unexpected or not in the design of the product and wind up up finding a whole new unexpected way to use something. I am not familiar with these products but wanted to try them so this was quite helpful. I thought the embossing paste would have had to be heated like embossing powder so was suprised to see that wasn't the case. Thank you for all your hard work and great insight.

    Thanks Mary for having fun with this, and showing how all these different products work and look. I don't have any of these pastes but I do have a cheap texture paste which I add colour with acrylic paint. I also tried to add glitter to the paste but found the same results as the glitter got lost in the paste, but what I do to make it glittery is to add( sprinkle) glitter over the paste after spreading while it is still wet. It's probably not as good as the real deal products, but I don't have access or finances to splash out on these beautiful pastes, but I do enjoy watching you and others doing gorgeous and inspiring cards! God bless you 🙏💕🇦🇺

    The easiest way to get an all in one product, is to use a GLOSSY texture gel that has no colour. That way if you add opaque colours to it, you can make it opaque but you can still add clear colours and keep it transparent. Also, it then allows you to add tiny flakes of mylar (spectacular) or the glitter of choice. It's nice to add a mix of chunky and normal ones! Opaque gels will not show glitter well (its like putting tracing paper over a shiny surface, it dulls everything). If the gel does not specify Glossy, it will be dull and may not be the finish you want but art gels come in different weights too. It's also possible to get beaded gel - or you can add your own micro beads if you have them. My preference is for plastic tools though, as they don't rust if you forget they are soaking! :)

    Thanks for the review. It was helpful. I make my own glitter paste it is cheaper than buying those small containers that don't last long. I am on a budget and it most cost effective if I make my own. I also color my own embossing paste and found some tube video where you can make your own embossing paste.

    You need to use a medium that dries clear for the addition of glitter to work so that the reflective surface of the glitter isn’t covered by an opaque layer of medium

  • @laurabuehler

    Thank you for this wonderful, comprehensive review! I just want to say that I have the Glass Glitter Gel from Faber Castell. Mine only took an hour or two to dry & it does dry clear. I think the green on your black background was the clear gel picking up some of the internal colors from the black & is reflecting that back to you. It looks really cool with your stencil, but I am using mine for glitter snow and ice on my Christmas cards, and it really looks like ice on white paper. I think the drying time depends on how much you use. I would wait overnight with any of the pastes, anyway, because I'm paranoid that I'll screw something up if I don't leave enough drying time.

    Thank you for this comparison video. Not living in the States where craft supplies are cheap, I’ve been able to recreate the Nuvo glimmer paste by mixing Ranger texture paste gloss, distress ink and glitter. My Nuvo glimmer paste color is the same as yours ... Hedgehog Hollow says it can be dyed with other colors so it works out cheaper for me (can’t make many glitter gels because the glitter colors available where I live are limited. Thank you once again! So many embossing pastes ....

    In order to mix glitter, it’s not a good idea to use opaque paste of any kind. The best paste to use with glitter is a clear drying or translucent paste As the translucent paste drys clear, you’ll be able to see the glitter. It’s a lot of fun. Thanks so much for your video. It’s very informative. Looking forward to more of your videos

If you want to foil the Gina k texture paste I’d meant for that purpose. So your review was perfect as not every person will be doing it all.

    Hi Mary! A big thanks to you as always for taking the time for all these products! There are so many out there, what to buy, what colors, oh my goodness and you seem to have them all! Does your hubby know this? Hahahaaa. I am the frugal one so I have made my own texture paste and the recipe is a good one and I can take some out of the jar I made, and adjust it a little more to get it smoother and creamy and add color or glitter. I am really glad you showed these as I have been contemplating getting the mousses but dog gone it what color (s) do I want? I really liked the glimmer pastes too! I have to go out today and where I am going there is a Michael's, guess where I am going to stop in and browse? This was perfect timing!!! You have always led me down the right path when deciding on products, your honest reviews are fantastic and so much appreciated!! You should have had AJ in the video with you, I bet would have enjoyed testing if the products were dry with his little fingers !! Have a wonderful weekend!!! Loved that peppermint candy stencil!!!!

    Thanks so much for doing all this. From things that I've seen online even though it's very hard to tell it appears that the Gina k is the most sparkly of the various glitter glimmer type pastes. I also really like the shape of the jar. You can stack them up easy and you can get stuff in there to get all the product out of the nooks and crannies. But seeing them up close and in person would you say that that's accurate or inaccurate about the sparkle? I know you weren't really checking prices but at the end when you talked about the 32 ounce jar of Handy art paste versus you know a smaller jar if you're not going to use that much like the altenew, I decided to check prices. 8.4 Oz vs 32 oz I believe, exact same price LOL but first I plan to try making some texture paste from all the DIY recipes out there.

    • @marypolancodesigns
      @marypolancodesigns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Gina K is definitely more sparkly than most; that's for sure. And I do like the way it cleans up; however because there is more glitter, it's not as smooth an application; more grainy. I hope that helps!

    That was pretty cool... I have had a lot of trouble with Nuvo embossing mousse drying up. I have been much luckier with the expanding mousse. I also found that you do not need to heat emboss it and if you do not want the crackle then just skip the heat embossing, it dries beautifully and smoothly too.

    • @marypolancodesigns
      @marypolancodesigns  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to know, thank you so much! :) Not a huge fan of the mousse in either kind but I guess I got dried up jars because someone told me it was suppoed to be smoother and those 2 were brand new.

    • @janiesirak8377
      @janiesirak8377 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mary Polanco those 2 jars of exp mousse were just opened? As I recall they were both very chunky which I think is really strange for a brand new jar of either of those Nuvo mousses... You’re not my friend you can go however they cannot treat easy which in my book is a huge plus. Sometimes I don’t even pull these products out and use them because I know how much fun it would be trying to get them off of my stencil. I have had to throw stencils away in the past.

    • @janiesirak8377
      @janiesirak8377 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, one of the easiest to clean off the stencils is the Gina K Ł, both beautiful and easy to clean. The hardest has been the Nuvo paste. Fantastic comparison video! I have most of glimmer/glitter- gel/pastes. I found it odd that the Faber-Castell glass bead gel had the green hue. Is it possible the black cardstock has green dye in it? I've only used it on white cardstock and it does pick up any color from ink. It's not glittery, but it is VERY sparkly when dry (one of my favorite, but not environmentally friendly, so I don't buy it anymore).

I live in the boonies so I drive 30 miles for my nearest Wal-Mart and dollar tree, to go to michel's, hobby lobby, and joann's it's almost 120 miles, but I have been dying to play with some of these pastes! Just this morning I bought some wall spackle from dollar tree to experiment with! Good to know you didn't get great results with mixing in the glitter. I'm wondering if the Faber Castell glass bead glitter paste needs/is recommended to be heatset. . .
    Interesting texture pastes. Not sure your expanding mousse is fresh. It's supposed to be creamier when you open it, and supposed to puff more. Hmm . . .

    Any tips on how to clean Cosmic Shimmer Collection - Sparkle Texture Pastes? Do you use water or water based wipes or alcohol or what's the best way for clean ups basically? Any tips are appreciated. Also for the waxes too which I love to rub but often avoid using any of my foam applicators for fear I can't clean them in anyway. Great questions here! for any paste to include the texture pastes, straight into a water/soap bath or to the sink for washing right away. That has worked fine for me. The wax is a bit trickier.
