    In 2021, Guitar World magazine confidently named Joe Bonamassa the greatest living Blues guitarist on earth. Over 60,000 of their readers voted the top 30 best Blues players, and Joe won by a landslide. The rest of the Top Five are Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks, Buddy Guy and John Mayer. Joe was a Child Prodigy who grew up to be a Virtuoso! Great reaction.

    DUDE
    This was originally an Albert King song, and after Albert died Joe bought his guitar so it could still play the blues. Now THAT is dedication to the Blues!

    • @scottauer6326

      The song was written by Jerry Beach of Shreveport, LA. Albert King recorded it. Jerry was a local blues guitarist that hosted a blues jam on Monday nights at a local establishment before he passed away.

      I only discovered Beth and Joe just over 2 years ago. I came across a reaction to them doing "I'd Rather Go Blind" and "I'll Take Care of You" was in the suggestion off to the right. I watched it, and until that point I never knew I was a Blues fan, but I was hooked. I now own 25 vinyl albums between them. They are amazing!!

  • @alleneh
    @alleneh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    You've only scratched the surface. Joe has the distinction of having more #1 Blues hits and Gold albums than anyone in history. I have 24 of his albums... solo, with Beth Hart, with Black Country Communion (Hard Rock Band) and Rock Candy Funk Party. This song is an Albert King song. Joe's playing Alberts guitar, but Albert was left handed (note the controls on on the top instead of the bottom) If you notice, Alberts name is on the guitar, but upside down. Joe reversed the strings for this one song, making it right handed. You have a a butt load of songs to choose from. I suggest "Mountain Time" live at the Royal Albert Hall and "Angel of Mercy" live at the Greek Theater... plus a hundred more.

    • @richardwhite801
      @richardwhite801 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually, Joe didn't have to reverse the strings. Albert King learned to play by taking a right-handed guitar and flipping it over and not changing the strings at all. That's what made his playing so hard for right handed players to imitate. If you look at some of the publicity photos of Albert holding his guitar, you can see that the high E string (the thinnest string) is on top instead of on the normal bottom position.

Was quite young, 5 or 6 yo. He’s an independent artist. You should react to his work with Beth Hart-“I’d Rather Be Blind” and “I’ll Take Care of You” are AMAZING! Joe is playing one of Albert King's guitars, "Lucy"... you can see Albert's name on the neck. The knobs are on the top because Albert played left-handed. This show was the conclusion of Joe's "3 Kings" tour, where he featured the songs of B.B. King, Albert King, and Freddie King. Two of my favorites from this show are "Angel of Mercy" and "Hummingbird".

    Yes, Joe is one of the best Blues and Musician and guitar around today. He started his career at age twelve, when he opened for B.B. King. But let's move forward 20 albums later and special projects. I could not tell which of the100 songs I like best but for a real deep blue's try " Midnight Blues" Joe Bonamassa Beacon Theatre: Live From New York . For a little different side " Different Shades of Blue" from the album with the same name. For a contrast of his driving sound maybe "How Deep This River Runs" from Blues Of Desperation. Besides his work with Beth Heart, he did a special project work with a group called Black Country Communion and try a song titled "Afterglow" and " Song of Yesterday". Research this bad and find out who some of members are, very interesting story.

    This performance of "I'll Play the Blues for You" is a really really special one. The V he's playing actually belonged to the late great Albert King. The whole suit, slicked back hair, and sunglasses thing is "the other guy". Joe says its his alter ego for performances. He had to more or less create that version of himself since he's a naturally introverted person. You should check out "Story of a Quarryman", specifically the live version he did at the Royal Albert Hall.

    Joe isn't just a brilliant technician, he's been that since he hit the scene at age thirteen - he's now a grown man who can feel and OWN the blues. And he's a serious student of the genre, a true musicologist, with a range of styles and abilities that would make Taj Mahal proud. 🙏

    The wife and I just saw him in concert a few months ago here in Indy. Icing? Then we saw Beth Hart in concert.😎👍
    Oh and the gentleman on the keys with Joe? He used to play with SRV. He’s now in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame!😎😎👍👍
    And yes, we know. Right now you’re asking yourself 🤔 just how big the (bleeping) rock was that you were under. Till now😉👍

    The smile says it all, phenominal player that switches from pick to finger as smooth as I've ever seen. Way back in the early 70's I went to Detroit with Marine buddy...a week in Motown seeing legends every night, never been the same since so I enjoy getting to see others explore and enjoy,

    Look up "Warren Haynes with Joe Bonamassa- Guitar Center's King of the Blues 2011"
    I guarantee it'll be one of the best things you've ever heard!!!
    They play "Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home"
    It has one of the best "call and response" guitar jams between Warren and Joe that you'll ever see I promise!

    Joe Bonamassa is one of my favorites. He is a child prodigy who was in a band with men 20 years older than him at age 9, at age 12 he was touring with BB King. 12 out of 15 albums he produced went to #1. Another song from this concert you will enjoy is "Breaking Up Somebody's Home" live at the Greek Theatre. Also check out a few form Joe Bonamassa live at Carnegie Hall "Woke Up Dreaming", "Drive" . Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart "Something's Got a Hold On Me", "I'd Rather Go Blind" (the best Etta James cover ever). There are a few just to start. It is a huge rabbit hole to go down.

    I would almost bet that flying V he's playing once rested in the hands of Albert King. I also think that's Jimmy Barnes daughter Mahalia singing in that back up crew.

    Joe Bonamassa, like many professional musicians, has extreme sensitivity to the very bright lights that most venues utilize to illuminate the stages where artists play. Even in interviews where the lighting is far less intense, he's almost always wearing some kind of glasses that have light-sensitive lenses in them. The funky suits are a part of his stage persona, and one never sees him wearing anything but casual wear jeans and t-shirts off of the stage in everday life.

    One commentator said he is one of the most underrated blues artist of all time. However, he is the biggest selling blues artist of all time. His guitar playing is unmatched, although he is humbly enough to give the black man and his band as being the best guitar player in the world. If you want another suggestion, try going down by Joe Bonamassa.
