We've been to the Ninh Binh area three times, most recently June 2022. It's an exceptionally beautiful area and highly recommended. We've taken boat rides, been up Hang Mua, and explored the enormous Bai Dinh pagoda complex where there are stunning views all around - yes, Bai Dinh is an eerie place because it's so new but we were fascinated by it. This film has great aerial shots. There are of course many other places to see. Vietnam is a simply wonderful place to explore and I hope very much the local businesses who have invested so much in offering homestays and other services see more people coming back, though of course it is very popular with Vietnamese people and rightly so. It was almost empty on our most recent visit. Our son and his family have lived in Hanoi for several years but are now returning to the UK so it may be some time before we go back again, which is a shame. This film makes me hope that we return.
Oh totally agree with you here. It was my second trip to Ninh Binh and I’m sure I’m gonna go there again. It’s so easy to access and then it has so much to do and so much to see. Plus all those Homestays with pools are just ideal for a weekend retreat. I’ll be in Vietnam for quite some time so I’ll defo go there a few times more😅😊
Thanks!🤩 This component actually is the most challenging for me😅 Like filming, editing - I’m kinda used to it, and can do it relatively fast, but oh writing a good script - this takes ages! Normally it would take about 2-3 weeks to come up with a nice cohesive story and then 2 more weeks to put everything together😋 Quite a bit of work but then the result is so satisfying🤩
FYI , the man who plays traditional music is not a monk , he is only the guardian of the temple ( Ong Tu Giu Dên in Vietnamese ) . BTW Bai Dinh pagoda existed since the 13th century . You only visited the new part of that pagoda ( built recently ) . The old part is situated at about one km from there , and was built inside a cave . You were lucky to be at Bai Dinh pagoda on a quiet day . If you went there on week-ends , on the first and 15th days of the lunar calendar month and especially during Buddhist festivals , that place would be full of Buddhist pilgrims coming to pray . It`s so crowded that you have to wait hours to get in the trolley car to visit the place .
Hey Hung, thanks for noticing that! Yeah with the man in the temple it was my pure assumption😅 I tried to talk to him, but he would talk to me in French or Vietnamese and that was kinda useless to me😅 . While about the crowds in Bai Dinh pagoda that's quite interesting to know. I visited it two years ago with my friends and it was really empty too, it just kept giving me that eerie, empty vibe. But you're right, luckily I wasn't there during a weekend, I probably that would've given me a totally different image of it!
@@alrightanton Ya ! that old man at the temple is apparently one of the rare old timers who are still able to speak French in Vietnam . Nowadays the Vietnamese young generations prefer to learn English , Japanese and Korean . BTW which country are you from
@@hungcuongnguyen293 Haha yeah, French is not so practical anymore I guess. Even if I learn it French will still hate me for my accent and "Oh for butchering glorious Français!"😂 And I'm from Ukraine 😌

@@sherbetthin I saw a temple (pagoda?) that really awed me this week. It was from the youtubers "Shot in the Dark Travel" and they were in Da Lat. They took a train to this temple that is "busy" in design but super cool. I prefer more serene/tranquil settings, but the one they showed was quite impressive. If you get a chance, check it out...or maybe Anton will film it whenever he makes it to Da Lat. :)
Ah thanks Lena! So glad you enjoyed it! You definitely should come here one day. Some time in mid/late autumn the weather will be around 20-25 degrees, just ideal for some mountain strolling😊
Check out Paddy Doyle (his Ninh Binh one was rather disappointing compared to this video, but episode 10 and 6 are AMAZING!) and Kinging-It videos on northern Vietnam. Flora and Note did two great videos in Ninh Binh that's worth watching.
Of all the videos I've seen recently on Ninh Binh, yours is by far the BEST!! I like how you showed Ninh Binh from afar and also up close and from different angles. You showcased many other stuff around Ninh Binh that other travelers missed or skipped since they just wanted to get there and check off their bucket list, which is unfortunate. You should check out Paddy Doyle and Kinging-It videos on their northern Vietnam motorbike trip. Based upon this video alone, I bet you can do a much better job with more detail and better drone shots. :)
Oh thanks a lot🤩 I still feel that my task was not entirely complete because I just couldn’t make it to those caves and boat tours - damn too hot! I’ll probably go there again in late autumn to check out the rest of the stuff.
Thanks! It’s mavic mini 2, it’s small enough so that it doesn’t need a permit for flying. I flew it in Vietnam, currently you are not obliged to have a license to fly a drone here unless this is some commercial thing.
I googled what Vietnamese laws say about flying the drone, all that I could find was that it is legal to fly the drone, restricted on some zone (you can normally see them on the app, it’s like airports and others) and also restricted altitude. Some places would have a restriction, like Cham Hindu temples would normally ask not to fly drones there. But with Ninh Binh I haven’t encountered with any prohibitions.
As far as Ha Long Bay, a lot of the videos shows how it's ruined by too many tourists. They've made it too common, which is unfortunate when you aim for quantity instead of quality for such a beautiful place like that. I think many people say to got to Cat Ba instead and approach Ha Long from there as it's less touristy.
Yeah I was thinking about Cat Ba too. Just get there and then from it go for Ha Long bay exploration. It’s just I’m a little bit afraid that Ha Long may feel like I’m of those Thailand islands - really beautiful, but because of the crowds of tourists you just don’t really feel the vibe, it gets ruined😕
@@alrightanton I just finished a video from Steph and Pete. They did a 3-day cruise on Ha Long, where most people do only the 1 day cruise and it looks like their cruise takes them away from the crowded places and they were able to go onto Cat Ba. Might want to consider that instead.
