Awesome video! Good mix of riding and wrenching! I recently rebuilt an XT500 from the ground up and got it running! Love watching these videos, looking forward to your next ones! Its literally the only thing on TH-cam I look forward to!
I just picked up the twin to your bike last week. It has been years since it last ran. Mice have nested and attacked the wiring. A little work today and l got spark. A little carb cleaner and l got some pops. Looking forward to running on its own after rebuilding carb or getting new one, along with throttle and oil change. I don't mind putting a bit of money into it, as it was free to me. Free is always good.
I was wondering if you'd ever heard of this long lost classic movie. It may be of interest; Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann ...Lyle Swann is a well-known dirt bike motorcycle racer who is in the desert competing in the Baja 1000, a multiclass vehicle cross-country race. Swann has a reputation for being a great rider but is plagued by technical problems from the high-tech gadgetry he incorporates into his C and J framed XT500 Yamaha. When Swann accidentally goes far off course, he stumbles across a time travel experiment that utilizes "maser velocity acceleration" to send objects (in this case, a simian subject by the name of Esther G.) back in time. Swann rides through the field and gets sent back to November 5, 1877. The scientists in charge of the experiment soon realize what has happened, but Swann rides off, unaware of what has happened to him, before he can be returned to the present. While taking a swim break in a local pond, he runs into a gang of outlaws led by Porter Reese, who becomes obsessed with stealing Swann's motorcycle, and the outlaws pursue Swann into the small village of San Marcos, but his red suit and dirtbike scare the local Mexicans, who think he is 'El Diablo' (Spanish for 'The Devil')...
I liked this video, I agree with your style of editing and production. Never have owned an XT or TT but have ridden them enough to know the feel of them. It's because one of my friends bought a 76 TT that I ditched the KE125 and went to big bore 4 stroke. However, I bought a TR5MX instead of the more modern (slightly) yamaha. And I did so because I already had a 72b50ss. It was like I had paid my dues on a saw horse when moving to the couch and a 82 xr500r. ($2,000 out the door with tax and license) But then, 10 years later the 92 xr600r. I'm good to go now for the rest of my dirt days. Still have a few friends that are running the yamaha 500... occasionally. We got tony one and took him to prarie city for his initial schooling of how to shift. (1995?) th-cam.com/video/hKGtWtA2vdU/w-d-xo.html Later, this bike was at signal peak on a day shrouded in cloud cover where it seemed we were isolated from the rest of the world down below. Got some photos of us at the hut as you call it. So your motor sounds good. Nice to hear it ticking along. Keep on riding! 2many
Are you near Waitsfield? You mentioned Camel hump theres a trail that runs up the south side of it theres an airplane crash on the back side of it that XT could make it! Nice rebuild, I just got my 75 BMW running been enjoying it in early morning way to hot after 10 haha.

@@XT500Adventures Good work. I've been out on my '76 this year....finally.
How fast can you go that beast
Hi! Did you delete your message for the kenda tire sizes? Can you post em again? Cheers!
Sorry about that, I did some youtube stuff and they deleted all my comments :(
Tire size is: 3.00x21 for the front and 4.00x18 for the rear
Thumpers rule
For a rebuilt engine, me thinks me hears some knocking at idle!
Hi! Can you share the tire sizes and kenda model? Thanks!
@@XT500Adventures cheers m8!
