the first two commercials...i'm going to a job interview at starbucks tomorrow, and it being my first job interview it's beyond nerve racking. especially as a trans person, my anxiety's been through the roof. you couldn't have posted this video at a better time, thank you samantha
the first one is just great because if i were to hear that from an interviewer i'd just be put at ease so much to know that i can be myself there. the second one hits me closer since i am in the process of trialling a different name and it's so difficult having to still go through everyone calling me by my current name is just a bit painful because im afraid of being honest with them and being myself
I'm Agender and I use it/it's pronouns and I'm deadnamed and misgendered by my parents a lot and I've learned to deal with it and it doesn't hurt that much because I'm use to them doing that and then I'm out to my friends and whenever they use 'she/her' for me, it hurts. Some don't bother to correct themself. And then there's one friend who isn't comfortable with use it/it's for people so they use they/them for me and I don't like using they/them for myself so it hurts.
The starbucks one hit me SO HARD because before I was out, the most validating thing at the time was to have my name of choice called out by the Starbucks barista and written on the cup :)
I'm a Non-Binary Lesbian. My parents know im lesbian, but im afraid to tell them that im Non-bianry, so its really hard to hear them say "she" a lot. Ive told some ppl im non-binary and they purposely say she and her.
I’m non-binary and lesbian as well. I’m sorry that that happened to you. If your parents are accepting of you being lesbian I would come out to them too. After that i would correct them when they use the wrong pronouns. That’s what I did, I wish you the best of luck!
Dang it Samantha! I just had to pause at 3:16 to blot my eyes. I'm about start my junior year of university for engineering and I haven't even started HRT yet. That job interview commercial is exactly what I'm afraid of. Thank you for this video.
I love seeing ads being inclusive of trans people. I think the indeed one was my favorite because it was just a small act on a cis person's part that made a world of difference to a trans person. And it was so professional. Though Starbucks is a close second by being like "yeah, tell us whatever name you wanna hear and we'll say it."
4:49 god this hurts so much i'm a non binary (gender fluid) but still i don't feel comfortable with my name so i choose a gender neutral name for me and yes i did try it in starbucks and let me tell you it felt great!! The Starbucks one is precious, but I can’t help but be amused by Starbucks pretending they’re not notorious for getting names wrong.

Alot yes....I mean A lot. 😅
Im not trans or lgbt but shit did that starbucks commercial bring a tear to my eye. It was the most simple commercial but i felt that pain
I have a college teacher that introduced herself with her pronouns and when we introduced ourselves, she also asked us to share ours if we felt comfortable. She also said that if anyone has a preferred name to just let her know (we could talk to her in person or send a mail) so she could adjust the attendance list.
Since then, I really started always mention my pronouns when I introduce myself somewhere. Will also do that at the school once I'm a teacher
That Starbucks ad really worked, now I want to go there and try all the names I'm curious about
im not trans, but i did change my name and my legal name is what i call me "dead name" because its really not my name, ya know? its completely not who i am anymore, im not that person anymore and hate it when someone uses my dead name. im trying to get my preferred name in as many places as i can

Kodak one was a great commercial. The Levi's one, like you said it seemed like they toke separate parts of an interview and put them together. The imagery was beautiful though. I enjoyed the Laverne Cox commercial because I'm a cartoon nerd and as an artist myself I know the time it takes to do anything animated.
I know right the Laverne Cox commercial gave me goose bumps cause........ Idk I was at awe, the fact that such a simple thing (the commercial) could give such a emotional response and mean so much to someone including myself....... it gives me hope for the future, and I'm all here for it✌️
@@azulBjort_1406 the Kodak one was right on the money. Because any kid in LGBTQ community has that fear of a parent not being open and excepting. That was my biggest fear for soo long. oh me too
I'm Agender and I use it/it's pronouns and I'm deadnamed and misgendered by my parents a lot and I've learned to deal with it and it doesn't hurt that much because I'm use to them doing that and then I'm out to my friends and whenever they use 'she/her' for me, it hurts. Some don't bother to correct themself. And then there's one friend who isn't comfortable with use it/it's for people so they use they/them for me and I don't like using they/them for myself so it hurts.
I saw that second commercial all the time last year and I never fully knew what it meant until now and its so heartwarming

I’m non-binary and lesbian as well. I’m sorry that that happened to you. If your parents are accepting of you being lesbian I would come out to them too. After that i would correct them when they use the wrong pronouns. That’s what I did, I wish you the best of luck!
