    i have a 2001 4dr 4x4 chevy "trailblazer" and it has the factory 4.3 and 4l60e shit box. both need rebuilt. all original with over 204k miles total. my transfer case actuator is electric and needs replaced and the problem with my 4l60e is the slipping between 3 and 4 while at hwy speeds say b/w 55-60+ mph. It also has serious hesitation to go into 2 gear or out of two and into 3. so it has several issues. I need new struts because they are squeaking and my front end upper steering arms are rusted af and need replaced. with all that said, I really have been considering before i found this video about swapping for a 5.3 and putting a cam, long tube headers, cold air intake, dual straights coming out the sides, and also a turbo. So that way with the engine bay empty, I can adjust the engine mounts to fit the 5.3, and install with ease some fresh new or used upper control arms for the new shocks and coils on each side. this video is extremely inspiring and empowering because i wanted to see it done before i go under a massive project. I shouldnt have to put a spacer on the 4l80e to match up with the 5.3 but i will need and adapter for the transfer case because the bolt holes will not line up as an example on another video i watched that was similar. I am probably just going to find an ls 5.3 from the yard and rebuild it myself before i am ready to swap my daily driver 4.3 out. reason I am swapping my 4l60e rather than rebuilding it is because they are not strong enough to handle the high output the 5.3 will be putting out with all the gear on it and i want it to last longer with no slippage issues which i know has more to do with clutch plate quality than the belt or gears and the old design of the valve body. I could just rebuild my 4l603 with a corvette kit but it still wouldnt be able to tolerate the extreme torque and hp on a daily basis and due to the fact im also going to give the blazer a 5in lift from rough country. remove the old stock front and rear bumpers and fab my own bolt on heavy steel bumpers and add a winch. i will install a bigger cargo rack on top to replace the wimpy stock cargo bars. if theres any ideas or advice or concerns before i get all these parts please let me know what your thoughts are.

    I’m LS swapping my blazer 4x4 also. On the header issue, mine has a 5” lift and I’m going to solid axle swap the front. Do you think that would make long tubes possible?

    Good job. I'm doing an LS into a '96 S10 pickup, 4x4, 5 spd manual trans and manual shift transfer case. Was looking for anyone doing the manual trans but haven't seen anyone yet.

      @@xdarkxzero This is the 3500. I bought the truck 3 years ago for $600 missing 5th and reverse because of a broken shift fork. Put a $52 shift fork in it myself, been my daily driver. Done many upgrade. manual transfer case, too. I removed the front bumper, which also held turn lights. replaced with '99 lights, just mounted them to the bottom of the outside corners of '96 grill. Winch I mounted underneath where the outer plate is flush withe grill guard/bumper I made. 31" tires and 2" body lift. air gun sprayed smoke grey Rustoleum paint. Really sweet needs ls

      @Sanium  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah. The gen one small blocks fit way better and that rear axle should hold that power unless you're hardcore launching it with super sticky tires.

    Do you have a part number on the transmission adapter to transfer case?

    • @Sanium
      @Sanium  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a stock adapter for like a late 90's s10. I think these are the Casting Numbers 15963696 15028096 15028097. Just make sure before you buy one that it has the correct 5 bolt transfer case patterns because it seems like there are 2 different ones. The one you need for a NP231 isn't a symmetrical bolt pattern.

      I believe it was the GCA758-2. I'm not positive since it's been some time but I think that's right. It went right in the stock location. It was pretty sweet.

    Hello i have a 86 with 2.8 I want swap out . Mine trans is a standard tho. Any idea what trans bell housing I can swap to or trans would bolt to transfer case ??? Any help will be appreciated

    • @Sanium
      @Sanium  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you wanted to keep it a standard transmission you could try an NV3500. If you got one out of a four-wheel drive S10 the transfer case should bolt up. If you get one out of a full size half ton the adapter might be different but I'm sure you could swap it out for one that would bolt up to that new process 207 that you probably have.

    Looks good, the trans mods are good to know. Mating a new 4l60 to the transfer case was one of my concerns but it looks like stock location and stock driveshafts are doable with a little work to the trans.
    You might wanna keep an eye on the fuel lines when you start it up. You might be fine but the worm screw and tbi type hose clams aren't usually rated for 60 psi. Personally I just use 6an adaptors for ls swaps then run inexpensive 3/8" line rated for the pressure. The cost of the fittings do add up though, but its a worry free way to plumb a ls fuel system.

    • @Sanium
      @Sanium  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll keep that in mind. The fuel line has been upgraded to high pressure FI line but you might have a point on the clamps. On the tank side I used FI rated clamps. I'll probably at least upgrade these to those. 👍🏻
