If you are used to Caribbean water, you’re not gonna be impressed. There were days when the water was warm, but for most days compared to the Caribbean, it’s gonna be cold.
Yes, rentals are the way to go. You just have to do a lot of research. Read all the reviews. if you find a good rental property at a good price definitely try to reserve it again the next year. A lot of folks reserve the same house over and over again because they knew exactly what you’re getting themselves into. If you decide to go please let me know how it goes.
Ocean City is a lot busier. It has a much longer boardwalk and a lot more people. In my opinion, Bethany Beach is more upscale. You’re gonna find more families here. Ocean City, you may find more of a young party crowd. Ocean City also has many families that go there for vacation. Overall, this place is smaller and quieter.

From what I can see and based on my vacation experience, Bethany Beach caters to a more seasoned crowd. I do think that young people and people of all ages can have a great vacation experience there. I am not sure why or where I said Sandollar Island. However, I recall going to Sand Dollar Island when I was at Emerald Isle and not Bethany Beach.

Yes, there are lots of fine dining restaurants at Bethany Beach. More than you would expect for a beach town.
